  • Recent studies have investigated anger or anger-related problems in adolescents from various perspectives. However, understanding of anger expression types or the role of mediating variables in relation to anger and anger expressions have been disregarded. The purpose of this research was to understand the relationships between adolescents' anger, problem solving ability, and three types of anger expressions (anger-in, anger-out, anger-control) and to focus on the mediator function of problem-solving ability. Participants comprised 596 adolescents (283 males and 313 females). Anger was significantly related to all three types of anger expressions. Adolescents who showed high anger levels tended to indicate high anger-in and anger-out expressions but low anger-control expression, while controlling for age and gender. The findings also provided evidence for the mediator role of problem-solving ability on the relationship between anger and anger-control expression. From the results of this study suggestions and limitations were also discussed.

For this purpose, 7 students who experienced anger were interviewed in-depth and the data was analysed by phenomenological method of Giorgi. As a result, 19 sub-components and 5 core components were derived. The five core components were the difficult situation to accept, the expression of unbearable emotions, tiredness of mind and body, efforts to overcome, and growth after overcoming. 'The difficult situation to accept' referred to a situation in which anger was felt, and 'expression of unbearable emotion' referred to an expression of anger. The effect of anger showed the result of 'exhausted of mind and body'. 'Efforts to overcome' and 'growth after overcoming' has been to grow through efforts to resolve anger and have been adapted to school life. For the study, 3,050 4th to 6th grade children from Kyunggi-do were sampled. The collected data were analyzed using simple regression, multi regression and a path analysis. This study showed that child abuse experience influenced the method of resolving the interpersonal conflicts via the expression of anger. In other words, anger expression could function as a pathway between child abuse experience and the method of resolving interpersonal conflicts.

Second, anger-out had significant mediating effect within the relationship of covert narcissism and SNS addiction proneness. Third, anger-out had significant mediating effect within the relationship of covert narcissism and disturbance of adaptive life and control failure, preoccupation and tolerance, avoidance of negative emotions. • The present study investigated gender differences of dating violence among adolescents and related variables, and examined the difference in trait anger and anger expression between those who have inflicted dating violence and those who have not. Results indicated that female adolescents(41.9%) reported experience of inflicting dating violence more frequently than male adolescents(29.1%) did. The girls were more positive toward violence than the boys, while the boys were more expressing aggression at school than the girls were. Adolescents who had inflicted violence toward their dating partners had singificantly higher frait anger and anger-out than adolescents who had not. Logistic regression analysis indicated that father to mother violence, community violence, trait anger, and recipient of dating violence are predictors of dating violence for male, while father to mother violence, community violence, history of violence, and recipient of dating violence are predictors for female.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze responses as bystanders of middle school girls in a simulated cyberbullying situation. This study also aimed to examine effects of bullying, victimization, anger-out, and state-anger on responses from girls as bystanders. The participants were composed of 2nd or 3rd grade middle school girls(N=59). Responses were classified into 7 categories(using explicit language, attacking, pass, changing topic, comforting victims, others, and conformity). Of these, attackings were classified according to the target(bully, victim, both, and ambiguous object). It was again classified as 'attacking response' and 'helping response' and was scored and summed according to the strength of the response and used as a dependent variable. Collected data were analyzed by correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are as follows: First, the most frequent response was 'the others'(41.69%) followed by 'using explicit language'(20.34%), 'passing'(13.56%), 'attacking bully'(8.81%), 'conformity'(8.64%), 'changing topic'(6.61%), and 'comforting victim'(0.34%). Second, responses of attacking victim were positively influenced by the previous bullying experiences and acting anger-out, and were negatively influenced by the previous victimization experience. State-anger has a positively influenced on responses of the attacking bully and the helping victim. None of the variables were significant influenced on responses of the attacking both and ambiguous object. These results will be useful data to help middle school girls as bystanders properly intervene in cyberbullying situation. Finally, the limitations of this study were discussed along with suggestions for further research.

The study participants were 209 nursing students recruited from two colleges. The data were collected from questionnaires gathered between December 1st and December 20th, 2016. Data were analyzed by applying descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis, using the SPSS/WIN 19.0 program. Significant correlations were observed for anger expression, interpersonal relationship, and depression in the nursing students. The total explanation of depression was determined to be 39.0%. The anger-in explaining (β=0.506, p=0.000), anger-control explaining (β= -0.342, p=0.000), and interpersonal relationship (β= -0.286, p=0.000) were significant factors of depression. The results of this study indicate a requirement for strategies to decrease trait anger-in, and promote anger-control and interpersonal relationship among nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between fear and anger emotions in the discourse produced by the media during the period of major emerging infectious diseases (SARS, Swine Flu, MERS, and COVID-19) that occurred since 2000 in Korea. The researcher collected editorial articles of the major daily newspaper after a significant epidemic of new infectious diseases and analyzed them using the Extended Parallel Processing Model (EPPM) and text mining techniques. In all epidemic times, fear appears stronger than anger, but the smaller the fear, the greater the risk control message is produced. In detail, fear emerges strongly in the discourse of the risk of infectious diseases or the economic crisis. Anger appears strong when the government's quarantine failures, groups where group infections occurred, and concealing information about infectious diseases. In this process, anger is strongly expressed against the factors that threaten the safety of society. Anger is also an emotion that can justify strong quarantine, but it can be the basis for discourse on minority hate. In this respect, anger is a two-sided emotion, so it must be handled carefully in the media.
