The waste etching solution for chip on film (COF) contained about 3.5% copper, and it was recovered through cementation using iron samples. The effect of cementation with plate, chip, and powder iron samples was investigated. The molar ratio (m/r) of iron to copper was used as a variable in order to increase the recovery rate of copper. As the molar ratio increased, the copper content in the solution rapidly decreased at the beginning of the cementation reaction. Before and after the reaction, the copper content of the solution was determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) using copper concentration according to time. After cementation at room temperature for 1 hour, the recovery rate of copper had increased the most in the iron powder sample, having the largest specific surface area of the samples, followed by the chip and plate samples. The recovered copper powder was characterized for its crystalline phase, morphology, and elemental composition by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), respectively. Copper and unreacted iron were present together in the iron powder samples. The optimum condition for recovering copper was obtained using iron chips with a molar ratio of iron to copper of 4 giving a recovery rate of about 98.4%.
$Er^{3+}$ and $Yb^{3+}$ co-doped $Y_3Ga_5O_{12}$ polycrystalline powders were prepared by using a solid-state reaction method, and their crystallinities were measured using X-ray diffraction. According to the results of X-ray diffraction, the powders showed a polycrystalline tetragonal structure. The photoluminescence and the upconversion luminescence properties of the $(Y_{0.85-x}Yb_{0.15})_3Ga_5O_{12}:Er^{3+}_x$ (x = 0.03, 0.06, 0.09, 0.12 and 0.15) phosphors were investigated in detail. Green and red upconversion emissions were observed for the phosphors excited by 980 nm radiation from a semiconductor laser. The powders exhibited strong green and weak red upconversion emission peaks at 553 and 660 nm, respectively. Also, their upconversion processes were explained using an energy-diagram analysis and the strongest upconversion intensity was emitted by the powder with a 0.12 mol $Er^{3+}$ ion concentration.

Aggregate occupies about 70-85% of the concrete volume and is an important factor in reducing the drying shrinkage of concrete. However, when constructing high-rise buildings, it acts as a problem due to the high load of natural aggregates. If the load becomes large during the construction of a high-rise building, creep may occur and the ground may be eroded. Material costs increase and there are financial problems. In order to reduce the load on concrete, we are working to reduce the weight of aggregates. However, artificial lightweight aggregates affect the interface between the aggregate and the paste due to its higher absorption rate and lower adhesion strength than natural aggregates, affecting the overall strength of concrete. Therefore, in this study, in order to grasp the interface between natural aggregate and lightweight aggregate by type, we adopted a method of measuring electrical resistance using an EIS measuring device, which is a non-destructive test, and lightweight bone. The change in the state of the interface was tested on the outside of the material through a blast furnace slag coating. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the electric resistance was about 90% lower than that in the air-dried state through the electrolyte immersion, and the electric resistance differs depending on the type of aggregate and the presence or absence of coating. As a result of the experiment, the difference in compressive strength depending on the type of aggregate and the presence or absence of coating was shown, and the difference in impedance value and phase angle for each type of lightweight aggregate was shown.
This study investigates the metabolomic changes in breast and thigh meat from Cobb and Ross 308 chickens regarding the rearing environment. One-day-old Cobb and Ross broilers were raised for 35 days in conventional and animal welfare farms with, amongst others, different floor sizes, stock densities, and ammonia concentrations. One-dimensional 1H nuclear magnetic resonance, orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA), and pathway analyses were performed to analyze the metabolomic properties of broiler meat. For breast meat, only those from the Ross strain could be separated according to the environment in the OPLS-DA plot. Ross breast meat from animal welfare farms showed significantly higher acetate, anserine, creatine, and inosine monophosphate content than those from conventional farms (P<0.05). In contrast, for thigh meat, the Cobb strain was differentiated using OPLS-DA. The contents of five metabolites, such as glucose and lactate, were higher in thigh meat from animal welfare farms; however, nine metabolites, including seven free amino acids, were lower compared to those from conventional farms (P<0.05). Pathway analysis was performed to interpret the biological changes in chicken meat based on environmental factors. The results indicated that the animal welfare environment led to significant changes in four metabolic pathways in Ross breast meat and in 20 metabolic pathways in Cobb thigh meat (P<0.05). In conclusion, the animal welfare environment could influence the metabolomic properties of Ross breast meat and Cobb thigh meat, which may affect the sensory quality of meat.
This paper presents the research results of analyzing the high-temperature corrosion characteristics of three currently commercialized heat exchanger tube materials under actual operating conditions of a biomass power plant. In order to precisely analyze the high-temperature corrosion characteristics of these materials, a high-temperature corrosion evaluation device was installed in the power plant equipment, which allows for adjusting the surface temperature of the heat exchanger tubes. Experiments were conducted for approximately 300 hours under various temperature and operating conditions. In this study, the commercialized heat exchanger tube materials used were SA213T12, SA213T22, and SA213T91 alloys. In order to objectively analyze the high-temperature corrosion characteristics of each material, an international standard-based process to remove corrosion products was applied to obtain the weight change of the specimens, and the average thickness loss and corrosion rate were derived. Thus, the high-temperature corrosion results for each condition were quantitatively compared and analyzed. In addition, in order to increase the reliability of the high-temperature corrosion evaluation method introduced in this study, the surface and cross-sectional corrosion of the specimens were confirmed by using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis. Based on these analysis results, it was found that the corrosion resistance of the commercial heat exchanger materials increases as the content of chrome and nickel in the composition increases. Additionally, it was found that the corrosion phenomenon is rapidly accelerated as the surface temperature increases. Finally, the replacement period (lifetime) of the heat exchanger tubes under each condition could be inferred through this study.
Carbon-coated $TiO_2$ was prepared by $CCl_4$ solvent mixing method with different heat treatment temperature (HTT). Since the carbon layers derived from pitch on the $TiO_2$ particles were porous, the carbon-coated $TiO_2$ sample series showed a good adsorptivity and photo decomposition activity. The BET surface area was decreased by the increasing of the heat treatment temperature. The SEM results present to the characterization of surface texture on the carbon-coated $TiO_2$ sample and carbon distributions on the surfaces for all the materials used. The main elements of C, O and Ti were shown from EDX spectra. And the quantity of these elements is very rich in the samples. From XRD data, the pristine anatase peaks were observed in the X-ray diffraction patterns for the carbon-coated $TiO_2$ at the different HTTs. However, the rutile peaks were observed for the carbon-coated $TiO_2$ at HTT of 1073 K and 1123 K. Finally, the excellent photocatalytic activity of carbon-coated $TiO_2$ with UV-vis spectra between absorbance and time could be attributed to the homogeneous coated carbon on the external surface and structural phase transform, and the photocatalytic activity was decreased by the increasing of the HTT.
Dose rate conversion factor was calculated to estimate the absorbed effective annual doses for soils for the beta-rays and gamma-rays, which were emitted from $^{238,235}U$, $^{232}Th$, and $^{40}K$ isotopes. The most recent data of the emitted energies per decay, half-lifes, and branching ratios, which were obtained from National Nuclear Data Center, were used. When this factor and the effective annual doses for the beta-rays and the gamma-rays of natural radioisotopes were compared with those of Aitken, these of $^{238}U$, $^{232}Th$ and $^{40}K$ are estimated to have good agreements but a large difference is shown in this for $^{235}U$. Through the calculations of effective annual doses by using these factor and the measurements of gamma-ray spectra for soils, which were extracted from prehistoric remains (Mansuri) on Osong, Chungchengbuk-do, The annual effective doses were obtained to be 3.8~5.9 mGy/yr. Also, when these doses including decay elements upper Rn were compared with those on all isotopes, the differences within 9~30 % were obtained. The analysis method of the annual effective doses for the beta-rays and the gamma-rays of the natural isotopes of soils was established by this dose rate conversion factor.
Methods to separate 14 rare earth elements (REEs) and yttrium by the $AG^{(R)}$ 50W-X8 cation exchange resin, and to determine REEs by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrophotometry (ICP-AES) were described. Ion exchange capacities of REEs on the resin were so high that the REEs were quantitatively ion exchanged under the flow rate of 0.3~1.0 mL/min at pH 1~6. The breakthrough capacity curve of the REEs showed that ion exchange capacities of light REEs (Cerium group) were greater than that of the heavy REEs (Yttrium group). When $200{\mu}g$ of each REEs was ion exchanged on 100 mg of resin, most of the heavy REEs were quantitatively desorbed with 10 mL of 2.0 M of $HNO_3$, while most of the light REEs with 30 mL. The method was applied to the monazite sample. The REEs could be separated from matrix, since ion exchange capacities of matrix ions of Ca, Ti, Mg, Mn were much lower than that of the REEs. However the relative standard deviations of the analytical results by the present method were not improved, as high as 1~5%.

Recently, environmental and ecological approaches is in progress in urban stream, especially the guarantee of instream flow becomes very important. In this paper, it is suggested that water volume estimation method utilizing the topographical shape data obtained by field investigation and satellite image to manage the urban stream efficiently. The data obtained at Gap River is the study area are analysed and those results are as belows. First, surveying to investigate topographic shape characteristics of urban stream is carried out. In details, the gradient characteristics from water surface to bottom in case of sand area and in case of grass area are 0.013 and 0.065 respectively. In conclusion, the gradient characteristic of grass area is five times bigger than that of sand area. Besides, IKONOS image is classified by spectrum analysis and Minimum Distance Method and the sand area extraction method by the generalization method as Median filter is suggested to calculate water volume. Finally, mapping process on the sand area extracted from the topographical shape field data in river and satellite images is carried out by the GIS spatial analysis. And on the assumption that the water level was 1m at that time when satellite image was taken, the water volume was $225,258m^3$. It is clarified that the effect of water volume improvement was about 10.5% in comparison with water volume that had no consideration on the gradient characteristics of sand-bar.
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), a noninvasive optical method, utilizes the characteristic absorption spectra of hemoglobin in the near-infrared range to provide information on cerebral hemodynamic changes in various clinical situations. NIRS monitoring have been used mainly to detect reduced perfusion of the brain during orthostatic stress for three common forms of orthostatic intolerance (OI); orthostatic hypotension, neurally mediated syncope, and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. Autonomic function testing is an important diagnostic test to assess their autonomic nervous systems for patients with symptom of OI. However, these techniques cannot measure dynamic changes in cerebral blood flow. There are many experimentations about study of NIRS to reveal the pathophysiology of patients with OI. Research using NIRS in other neurologic diseases (stroke, epilepsy and migraine) are ongoing. NIRS have been experimentally used in all stages of stroke and may complement the established diagnostic and monitoring tools. NIRS also provide pathophysiological approach during rehabilitation and secondary prevention of stroke. The hemodynamic response to seizure has long been a topic for discussion in association with the neuronal damage resulting from convulsion. One critical issue when unpredictable events are to be detected is how continuous NIRS data are analyzed. Besides, NIRS studies targeting pathophysiological aspects of migraine may contribute to a deeper understanding of mechanisms relating to aura of migraine. NIRS monitoring may play an important role to trend regional hemodynamic distribution of flow in real time and also highlights the pathophysiology and management of not only patients with OI symptoms but also those with various neurologic diseases.
