  • This study examines the mediating effects of self-efficacy between self-differentiation and depression by analyzing 105 parents who have at least one child with a disability. Regression analysis confirmed all hypothesis between self-differentiation, self-efficacy, and depression. There exists partially or complete mediation. That is the indirect effect on depression, self-efficacy explains the relationships between self-differentiation and depression to be as minimum as 24 percent to as maximum as 100 percent. This demonstrates that the self-efficacy significantly affects the relationship between self-differentiation and depression. Findings of this study recommend that self-efficacy should be enhanced through improving the level of self-differentiation. The results also imply that rehabilitation counselors need to understand the way of improving self-efficacy as well as the fact that the influencing factors of self-differentiation on self-efficacy is important. The findings of this study are informative for researchers, educators, and clinicians for mental health and psychological rehabilitation who assist the parents of children with disabilities.

In a nutshell, the findings in this study are as follows: First, the stress-coping styles of children from multi-cultural families and depression were found to be negatively related, while social support and depression were negatively correlated. Second, as for the effects of stress-coping styles in children from multi-cultural families on depression, the more passive and active stress-coping styles of children from multi-cultural families, the less their depression, behavior disorder, loss of interest, self-abasement and physical symptoms. Third, high levels of teachers' support partially mediated the relation between stress-coping styles and depression in children from multi-cultural families. This finding implies that children from multi-cultural families, who perceive high levels of peer support, cope with stress better and thus reduce depression.

  • We aimed to verify the mediating effect of depression on the relationship between burnout and flourishing, and the moderated mediating effect of psychological detachment on the mediating relationship. An online survey was conducted with 300 workers, and the results are as follows. First, significant correlations are found among burnout, depression, flourishing, and psychological detachment. Second, the mediating effect of depression on the relationship between burnout and flourishing was verified. Third, the moderated mediating effect of psychological detachment on the mediating relationship verified. Considering the successive effects of burnout on depression and the loss of flourishing, the necessity of efficient management of burnout became evident. Moreover, the moderating role of psychological detachment implies that the effect of burnout can be reduced to some extent through individual and/or organizational efforts for psychological detachment. It seems necessary to verify the moderating effect in more detail through experimental research in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate of mental health professionals regarding job burnout, emotional labor and mental health by verifying the moderating effect of resilience. Results from analyzing 1,020 mental health professionals(certified people with 1st, 2nd grade licence in nursing, social welfare, and psychology) collected in the academic service studies by the National Mental Health Education Research Center in 2014 showed that job burnouts and emotional labor both had negative correlation with mental health, but in cases of analyzing moderating effects in resilience, only job burnout presented significant results. Accordingly, the results indicated that resilience could buffer the danger of mental health of mental health workers from job burnouts and emotional laboring. This study shows that it is important to care about the mental health of not only the people who receive mental health care services, but also the mental health care professionals who provide services. It also shows that the research has to be conducted with convergence considering both sides. Measures regarding the mental health care of mental health professionals were further discussed based on the results of this study.

  • This study consists of two sections to figure out the relationship between autistic features and empathizing-systemizing traits. For the first section, the research involved 355 university students to measure their EQ, SQ-R and AQ. As a result, it is found that AQ was negatively correlated to EQ, and D score(relative difference between EQ and SQ-R of the individuals), but it was not significantly related to SQ-R. It means that the subject has high AQ if he has relatively lower EQ than SQ-R. For the second section, the subjects were divided into two groups based on their AQ score; the subjects who had a tendency of autism and the subjects who did not. The test measured how these two groups were different in terms of facial expressions' recognition according to the tendency of autism, facial expression presenting areas(whole face, eyes-alone, mouth-alone) and different types of emotions(basic and complex emotions). As a result, the subjects who had a tendency of autism were lower at judging facial expressions than the subjects who did not. Also, the results showed that the subjects judged better on the condition of basic emotions more than complex emotions, the whole face more than eyes-alone and mouth-alone. Especially, for the eyes-alone condition, the subjects who had a tendency of autism were lower at judging facial expressions than the subjects who did not. This study suggests that empathizing traits and facial expressions' recognition are related to the tendency of autism.
