Although experts have called for increased collaboration between families and school systems, the actual programs for such efforts were not introduced. Thus, this study attemps to develop school-based parent education program for home-school collabration. PEP was developed through the circular process, which consist of planning, design, enactment, and evaluation. The group process of PEP was analyzed qualitatively and the effectiveness of outcomes was examined by nonparametric statistical analysis. Two factors contributed to success of PEP were as follows: 1) Increased homogenities, such as children's developmental stage, same school enrollment, and sense of community belongingness. 2) Consistency and continuity between PEP and Mental Health Prevention Program for students. Through the PEP based on these factors, parents' strong commitment was established and tangible results such as increased knowlege and fluent coping skills regarding children's problematic behaviors were found. Implications for home-school collaboration were explored, as are recommendations for how PEP can be prepared to link between families and schools.

We developed an education program for parents of adolescents titled Parents from Mars getting through to children from Venus. The program consists of five two-hour sessions each with a different theme; (1) parent-child communication, (2) study activities, (3) computer use, (4) children's daily expenses, and (5) children's daily-life plan. The program was test-run with seventeen participants, which included mothers of 4th grade(elementary school) to 9th grade (middle school) children. Based on data analysis, we found that average satisfaction level was 3.80 out of 5.00 and average goal accomplishment level was 3.91 out of 5.00. Most of the participants agreed that the program helped them to understand their children's problems, to look back on themselves as parents, to plan ahead, and eventually to improve their relationship with their children. However, it was also pointed out that the program needed to put more emphasis on practical lessons rather than theoretical lectures. For example, the need for more audiovisual materials, and more practical training during each session was highlighted by participants.
Recently increasing young adults have experienced serious economic difficulties in their transition to adulthood and so a great deal of parents have to help their children financially even well after children finish their schools. Utilizing the 2008 Social Survey, a nationwide representative survey collected by the Statistics Korea, this paper examines how children, mothers, and fathers think about parental support to adult children. Respondents of the 2008 Social Survey answer how much parents support economically to their children about the following four items: college education, graduation school education, spending money while searching for jobs, and marital preparation. Analyzing a sample of 1,727 high school students and their parents, I find that the three family members generally accept economic support to the above items as part of parental duties. Also comparisons of the three family members' attitudes indicate that they usually reach the consensus about the dutiful scope of parental support to adult children. Logistic regressions reveal that male teens and children with conservatism are more likely to believe in wider scope of parental economic duties. And parents who are on good terms with children and are high in educational and occupational levels are more willing to support adult children. I conclude with implications of the findings for intergenerational relationships.

The purpose of this study is to analyze and verify the effect of multicultural adolescents parental support and parenting attitudes on school life and social competency by using the primary data of the second period of the MAPS(Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study). The subject of this study in 2019 was 2,246 multicultural adolescents who were in the fourth grade of elementary school at the time. As a result of the study, it was found that the more positive and positive parental support and parenting attitude were, the higher the degree of school life and social competence of multicultural adolescents. On the other hand, the degree of school life and social competence varies according to gender, and it was found that female students were higher than male students. There was a significant difference in the degree of school life according to the mother's educational background, but there was no significant difference in the degree of social competence. These results suggest that parental support and parenting attitudes are major environmental variables in the educational ecosystem that affect the school life and social competence of multicultural adolescents.
The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of parent's support on the school adaptation of immigrant adolescents to school life, the mediating effect of self-esteem, and the moderating effect of cultural adaptation stress. The data used for the analysis were the second panel data (2020) among the multicultural youth panel survey data. As for the data analysis method, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, PROCESS MACRO Model Number 4 and PROCESS MACRO Model Number 1 analysis were performed. As a result of the analysis, first, parental support showed a positive (+) effect on school life adaptation. Second, in the relationship between parent's support and school adaptation, self-esteem had a statistically significant indirect effect. Third, it was found that cultural adaptation stress had no moderating effect in the relationship between parent's support and school adaptation. Based on these results, policy and practical suggestions for improving the school adaptation of immigrant adolescents to school life were presented.
The purpose of this study was to examine: (1) whether the level of parental monitoring changes during adolescence; (2) if it changes, what is the pattern of the change; and (3) whether the effects of adolescents' attachment to their parents on parental monitoring are dependent on time. Six waves of data from the Korea Youth Panel Study (KYPS) were used to address the research questions. The participants of the KYPS were 3,449 (1,725 boys and 1,724 girls) adolescents who participated in the study once a year for 6 years (from the 2nd grade in middle school until their high school graduation). Latent growth modeling (LGM) was used to analyze the data. The findings are as follows: the level of parental monitoring significantly increased over the six waves of the study, and the adolescents' attachment to their parents was a time-dependent predictor of parental monitoring. The results indicate that the quality of adolescents' attachment to their parents is an important factor that makes a difference in the level of parental monitoring by, possibly, affecting the level of adolescents' disclosure to their parents.
The purposes of this study are to investigate the relationship between university students' romantic and parent attachment in attachment security and to examine the relationship among romantic attachment, parent attachment and filial obligation for generational transition. Major results of this study are as follows: first, the level of attachment anxiety in female students is higher than male students. 25.1% of the subjects is classified into a secure type and 74.9% is classified as an insecure type. Second, female subjects feel strong attachment to their mothers than male subjects. Third, romantic attachment of female students is related to attachment to their fathers. Fourth, male subjects feel more filial obligation than female subjects. Finally, their romantic and parent attachment are positively related to their filial obligation. Variables that explain male students' filial obligation are ones of 'giving economic aid to parent' and 'the extent of attachment to their fathers'. A variable accounting for female students' filial obligation is 'the extent of attachment to their mothers'.
Purpose: This study compared stress, self-esteem and perception of parents' nurturing attitudes perceived by school-age children between Korea and China in order to supply information for health promotion of the children. Methods: The subjects of the study consisted of 287 elementary students in Korea, and 185 elementary students in China. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, $x^2$ test, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and correlation analysis. Results: The comparisons showed that Chinese children reported higher stress than that of Korean children. The Korean children perceived more receptive, more self regulative, and less accomplishment pressure about their parents' nurturing attitudes compared to the Chinese children. Correlation analysis showed significant relationships among total stress, self-esteem and the perception of parents' nurturing attitude in Korean and Chinese children. Conclusion: From the results of this study in order to promote the health of school-age children, it is necessary to develop a program which helps School-age Children reduce stress and increase self-esteem.
The purpose of this study win to examine the relation between level of income, perceived parental behaviors, and ego-identity of school-aged children. The subjects were 356 children in the 6th grade selected from six elementary schools in Seoul and Keunggi-Do. The subjects were asked to complete the questionnaire on ego-identity and perceived parental behaviors. The data was analyzed by Mean, SD, Cronbach's α, Pearson's correlation and Multiple Regression. The major findings were as follows : 1. The level of income(antecedent variable) was significantly related with perceived parental behavior(mediator) and ego-identity of school-aged children(dependent variable). 2. The effects of level of income on ego-identity of school-aged children became lower after control of the effects of perceived parental behaviors. In other words, perceived parental behaviors partially mediated the effects of level of income on ego-identity of school-aged children.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of the spread of a new type of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) on the mental state in school-age children and parents focusing on the aspects of sleep disorders and depression. A questionnaire survey was conducted for 123 parents and 108 school-age children who visited Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital at Gangdong from April 2, 2020 through April 25, 2020, via the direct writing method. Participants were assessed with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)-7, Center for Epidemiology Scale for Depression. Logistic regressions were used with a level of significance of 5%. The prevalence of GAD, depression, and poor sleep in parents were 34.1%, 17.1% and 44.7%, respectively. The prevalence of GAD in children was 20.4%. Logistic regression showed that stress from Emergency Alert Messages about COVID-19 was associated with GAD and depression in parents. In children, the degree of emotional change after COVID-19 was associated with GAD. This study confirmed that there was a change in the psychological status of children and guardians due to the epidemic of coronavirus disease-2019, and it would be necessary to consider their psychological status during dental treatment.
