  • Surplus resources including workforce and space have occurred by the implementation of electronic government. In order to utilize these resources for welfare, culture, employment, and sports for all, the plan for merging closed dong offices is going on. Meanwhile, the demand for childcare facilities is increasing due to the growing number of working couples and small-scale families, but the government has underwent many budget problems in processes such as new construction and purchase of the land. In response, this study purposes to present measures to simultaneously solve the problems of expanding childcare facilities due to the current increase in demand for them and of closed dong offices due to their reduced role from the implementation of the e-government. As a method of research, a survey was conducted on the current status and actual condition of childcare facilities using closed dong offices, and the spatial compositions of the facilities were compared through J-graph based on spatial syntax. Through this method, the types of space generated by the use of the existing dong offices were derived, and the problems and directions for improvement were described.

First, the problem of the disaster safety training course of the school is not connected with the lack of law and system and the school disaster safety job. Second, improvement of law and system and variety of training should be made to acquire professional knowledge. Third, it is necessary to divide curriculum into the following four categories, according to educational needs of public officials ; Educational administration officers course focused on facility safety, maintenance and disaster countermeasure. Educational officials in technical post course addressing approval and permission of school facility projects, seismic reinforcement of school building, etc. Educational supervisors course covering roles and responsibilities of the school safety supervisors in the event of disaster. Teaching staffs course focused on safety instructions for students. Fourth, it is found that lectures and experiential learning methods are the most desirable methods of teaching and learning, and the major ranks are earthquake disaster, fire, gas, typhoon, school road, and electrical safety.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the perception of the childcare teachers regarding accreditation procedures and feasibility of the second accreditation index according their past participation in the accreditation process. The objects were 193 childcare teachers working at child care centers that were accredited using the initial accreditation index. The collected data was analyzed using frequency, percentile, $X^2$, and t-test. The major findings are as follows: First, childcare teachers without accreditation experience perceived 'continuing education of child care center directors and teachers' to be the most important for quality maintenance after successful accreditation. In contrast, childcare teachers with accreditation experience placed the most importance on 'childcare teachers' motivation and continuing enrollment'. Second, childcare teachers with accreditation experience perceived higher feasibility in the subcategories of 'art activity materials' in the category of child care environment, 'providing operation policies and information of child care teachers', 'care for children', and 'employment contract' in the operation & management category, 'sanitary management of food, cooking and feeding', 'care of sick or injured child', 'health management of children and childcare teachers', 'snacks for children' in the category of health and nutrition and 'safe procedures for handing over children' in the category of safety. • The nursing space and sanitary space are main living spaces for children in the child care center. The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics in terms of planning by mainly focusing on the nursing space and sanitary space of the disabled child care center in Japan. Since Japan has cultural backgrounds similar to those of Korea while providing systematic child care centers according to the symptom and grade of disability, it is anticipated that this case study on the disabled child care center in Japan will help establish standards related to disabled child care centers in Korea. To conduct the study in a more efficient way, the case study was divided into the space planning of nursing spaces and sanitary spaces and the installation of sanitary tools and handrails in the disabled child care center. The findings of investigating into actual conditions were analyzed by comparing them with Japanese laws and literary and documentary records relevant to this study. Through this study, it is expected that Korean child care centers, having constantly expanded their quantitative growth, will also improve the qualitative level of their atmospheres so that they may provide more proper conditions even for disabled children to get better used to child care centers in Korea.

By referencing previous studies which were carried out based on literature research relating to the safety management standards in the accreditation system guidebook (2005), the study divided the matters relating to safety management practices into 6 sub-categories and prepared a questionnaire composed of questions for each sub-category. The study carried out a questionnaire survey of 102 people engaged in child-care centers in the Chonbuk, and the findings of the study are as follows: 1. According to the survey of actual conditions of safety management by heads of child-care centers, it was found that the level of safety management practice is lower than other items in the sub-category of indoor facility safety management and measures against emergencies. 2. In the comparison of the averages of the sub-categories relating to the safety management practice of child-care centers, the item of safety direction and education received the highest practice score of 1.82, while the item of indoor centers safety management the lowest practice score of 1.59. 3. In the comparison of the level of safety management practice according to variables related to child-care centers and heads of the centers, it was found that difference is made according to the type of child-care centers, the sex of heads of centers and the experiences of heads of centers.

  • This study is intended to look into parents' satisfaction of contracting-out system in employer-supported childcare centers. To achieve this, a survey was carried out to 400 parents who use national, public and private employer-supported childcare centers. The results were as follows. First, employer-supported childcare factors were the qualities of childcare environment, childcare program and early childhood teacher in both contracted-out and in-house services. The satisfaction with facility, program, operation and childcare training was improved in good employer-supported childcare factors And the satisfaction with the relationship between these factors could improve the expectation for the use of employer-supported childcare centers. Second, the difference in the operation of employer-supported childcare centers showed that the most preferred size was 50 to 74 children. The contracted-out services was more preferred than in-house services. And the location of on-the-job facility was more preferred than off-the-job facility. As stated above, the preference of employer-supported childcare centers was more raised than that of general kindergartens or childcare centers by an increase in the trend of working child parents' dual income. In other words, small and medium sized childcare centers of some 50 children were more preferred than large scaled childcare centers. Consequently, the retainment of childcare programs, facilities and quality teachers contracted out to professional childcare centers can improve the satisfaction with them.

  • Daycare centers are an important indoor environment for pre-school children and exposure area with potential harmful health effects for infants and children who spend most of their daily life. Sampling was undertaken at 29 daycare centers located Seoul in Korea from January, 2006 to December 2006. The target compounds were 7 individual volatile organic compounds (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, m,p-xylene, styrene, o-xylene, TVOC). The mean concentrations of TVOC, toluene, m ,p-xylene, ethylbenzene, benzene and styrene in daycare centers were $318.7{\mu}g/m^3$, $51.6{\mu}g/m^3$, $11.7{\mu}g/m^3$, $6.5{\mu}g/m^3$, $4.2{\mu}g/m^3$, $3.6{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. Toluene occupied 17.6 % of the concentration of individual VOCs. The ratio of indoor and outdoor (I/O) of TVOC and toluene were 2.0 and 1.6, respectively. The results of characteristics according to a season of a year, the concentration of TVOC were measured $433.9{\mu}g/m^3$, and these concentrations during third quarter of the year in summer were higher than the other season. In the other four seasons, TVOC were measured 280.5 in winter, 298.3 in spring and $264.6{\mu}g/m^3$ in fall, respectively.

Data were collected from 271 nursery teachers on WIS, MBI, TES and JSS, which then were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, workplace incivility was negatively related to total job satisfaction and four job facets except pay/promotion. Second, burnout was negatively related to total job satisfaction and four job facets except work condition. Third, teacher efficacy was positively related to total job satisfaction and four job facets except work condition. Fourth, workplace incivility had a stronger relationships with the job satisfaction than burnout and teacher efficacy. The above findings imply that workplace incivility is an important variable of human relationship and is a good predictor of job satisfaction in nursery teachers.
