  • The detector for digital radiography testing, which is currently mainly used, consists of a detector with a flat structure, making it impossible to fully adhere to the digital radiography testing of the test object with curvature. In this study, a curved panel detector capable of adhering to curvature was fabricated to improve the quality of the digital image during the digital radiography testing of piping welds at industrial sites, and digital radiography images using flat and curved panel detectors were obtained for 6in pipes with different nominal thickness. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the flat panel detector does not fully adhere to the pipe, resulting in a gap between the outer part of the pipe and the detector, resulting in a difference in the unsharpness and diffusion of the digital image. On the other hand, it was confirmed that the curved panel detector minimizes the gap between the pipe outer part and the detector, so that digital image diffusion is less than that of the flat panel detector. The higher the confidence of the image, the lower the quality and error in reading, so it is believed that higher quality images can be obtained than conventional flat panel detectors when using detectors that can be closely attached to the inspection object.

  • Most Hepatic hemangiomas are asymptomatic and small in size, making them difficult to find by pathological examination. Therefore, radiological diagnosis is essential for the early finding and diagnosis of Hepatic hemangioma. Three-phase method using contrast medium in computed tomography, T1, T2-weighted imaging in magnetic resonance imaging, dynamic magnetic resonance imaging using contrast medium, echo planar imaging method, diffusion-weighted imaging method, blood pool scan using 99mTc-labeled red blood cells in nuclear medicine, we looked at the color doppler method In ultrasound, and it is important to accurately understand the imaging findings of hepatic hemangioma and perform the examination in order to make an accurate diagnosis. most hepatic hemangioma are benign tumors, care should be taken not to confuse them with malignant tumors such as hepatocellular carcinoma to prevent unnecessary procedures. Therefore, in order to make an accurate diagnosis, it is important to accurately understand the imaging findings of hemangioma and perform the examination.

  • In order to minimize the radiation exposure dose of the thyroid site at dental cone-beam computer tomography, a protector using a Bolus was prepared, and the radiation shielding effect and the appropriateness of the image were evaluated. Using a dental cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), a glass dosimeter was attached to the left and right sides of the thyroid for a dental radiation phantom, and the radiation dose was measured. The absorbed dose for each shield was measured by another method to 10 mm, 20 mm, and 30 mm-thickness, respectively. Eight evaluators evaluated whether or not the medical image is appropriate. When using a 30 mm Bolus shield at the left thyroid site, the resulting value is reduced by an average of $342.67{\mu}Gy$ by 20.7% from the average value of $431.22{\mu}Gy$ measured without using a Bolus shield, the right thyroid site In the case of using 30 mm Bolus shield, it showed a dose reduction effect of 21.9% with an average of $424.56{\mu}Gy$. The adequacy of the medical image was judged to be usable by both evaluators. In conclusion, the dental cone-beam computerized tomography can be used as a useful shielding material because it has a radiation shielding effect and it is possible to treat the diagnosis of the bolus protector in the thyroid without any obstruction shade in order to minimize the radiation dose.

  • This study proposes a new skull lateral examination, and provides an improved examination environment for patients and radiologists. The study was divided into three groups. One group was divided into the SID (source to image receptor distance) 110 ㎝ and 180 ㎝ in the skull lateral posture, the other group The other group was divided into an position in contact with the detector and an position without contact with the detector, and the other group was divided into male and female groups, considering that the difference in shoulder width between adult males and females would affect the dose and image quality. For dose evaluation, the ESD (entrance surface dose) was measured at the EAM (external auditory meatus), and the conditions were applied equally at 70 ㎸p, 200 ㎃, and 10 ㎃s. For image quality evaluation, SNR (signal to noise ratio) and CNR (contrast to noise ratio) were measured in frontal sinus, EAM, and sella turcica. As a result of ESD comparison, when sid 110 ㎝ to sid 180 ㎝ was changed among the three groups, ESD values decreased the most to 729.18±4.62 μ㏉ and 224.18±0.74 μ㏉ at 180 ㎝ (p<0.01). The values of SNR and CNR were statistically significant (p<0.01), but there was no qualitative difference. This shows that when the SID is 180 ㎝, it is possible to reduce the dose without lowering the image quality. So, It is suggested that the SID 180 ㎝ is used without contacting the detector when examining the skull lateral.

  • This study was performed to quantify the pleural effusion in radiography, ultrasonography and computed tomography(CT) and to evaluate and compare the usefulness of these methods. Normal saline of 10 ml/kg was infused into the pleural space until a final loading volume of 60 ml/kg body weight was reached in six Beagle dogs. The radiographic examination was performed for the detection and quantification of pleural effusion. On the ultrasonographic study, the maximum perpendicular distance was measured between the surface of the lung and the thoracic wall to evaluate pleural effusion. On the CT image, pleural effusion was evaluated as the perpendicular distance to the thoracic surface in the maximum pleural effusion volume on any transverse images with soft tissue window. Statistical analysis was performed using linear regression test. The volume of pleural effusion and measurements of radiography and ultrasonography had no statistical relationship. However, a significant correlation was identified between the volume of pleural effusion and the depth at right ($r^2=0.715$), left ($r^2=0.745$), and mean right and left depth ($r^2=0.844$) on the CT images. All of the thoracic radiographs, ultrasonography, and CT are useful in recognition of pleural effusion. In quantification of pleural effusion, the CT measurement method is superior to radiographic and ultrasonographic measurements.

  • In projection radiography, two types of digital imaging systems are currently available, computed radiography (CR) and digital radiography (DR): a difference between them can be stated in terms of dose and image quality. In the Department of Radiology our hospital, a flat-panel DR equipment (Digital diagnost, Philips) and two CR systems (ADC Compact plus digitizer, AGFA) are employed. Eight standard radiographic examinations (Skull AP, Skull LAT, Chest PA, Chest LAT, Abdomen AP, L-spine AP, L-spine LAT, Pelvis AP) were considered: doses delivered to patients in terms of both entrance skin dose (ESD) were calculated and compared in order to study the dosimetric discrepancies between CR and DR. Assessment of image quality is undertaken by Consultant Radiologists to ensure that the quality criteria for diagnostic radiographic images of the European guidelines were met. Results showed that both ESD in DR are lower than that in CR; all images met the criteria in the European Guidelines for both modalities and were used for reporting by the radiologists. Since the operators are the same and the image quality is comparable in both modalities, this study shows that in the considered examinations, DR can perform better than CR from a dosimetric point of view.

  • In whole spine radiography using the stitching technique, overlapping parts occur in the process of synthesizing the three segmented images, so some anatomical structures may be repeatedly exposed, and it has been thought that the dose increases as the scan range increases. However, in the whole spine radiography using the stitching technique in this study, under the condition that the stitching range is taken in the same three splits, the overlapping area decreases as the stitching range increases, so in the case of breasts included in the overlapping range, the dose value decreased by almost half as the stitching range increased from 90 cm to 105 cm. During spinal full-length radiological examination using the stitching method, an appropriately long stitching range could be set to reduce the exposure dose of the breast.
