Impacts of Collaborative Problem Solving for Character Competency (CoProC) Strategy on the Practical Character Competency and Collaborative Problem Solving Competency in Middle School Science (협력적 문제해결(CoProC) 전략을 통한 중학생의 실천적 인성 역량 및 협력적 문제해결력의 함양)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the impacts of Collaborative Problem solving for Character competency (CoProC) strategy on the practical character competency and collaborative problem solving competency in middle school. For this study, 49 seventh grade students (two classes) were selected for use applying the CoProC strategy (CoProC group) while 46 students (two classes) were used for traditional lecture and experimental class (comparative group). In the result, CoProC group showed a statistically significant result in practical character competency than the comparative group. In the sub items of the competency, the CoProC group showed result statistically significant in cooperation, communication, responsibility, and positive self-understanding than the comparative group. Analysis of the effect size of students' practical character competency showed that the CoProC group results showed more effective than the comparative group in terms of care, cooperation, communication, honesty, responsibility, positive self-understanding, and self-regulation. In addition, we investigated the effect of the CoProC strategy on collaborative problem solving competency. As a result, it showed a large effect in the total score of collaborative problem solving competency. Among the sub items of the competency, 'exploration and understanding of members' showed a small size of effect and 'Establishing and maintaining team organization' showed a medium size of effect. 'Communication' and 'self-reflection' showed a large effect. CoProC strategy embedded in Science subject could improve students' collaborative problem solving competency through the process of scientific communication in the scientific inquiry process.

The Effect of Peer Discussion about Classroom Practices on Science Teachers' Teaching (수업에 대한 동료교사의 협의가 과학교사의 수업에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the content and the effect of peer discussion about classroom practices on their science teaching. Participants included three science teachers with chemistry backgrounds in middle and high schools. Each of them had their classes videotaped and observed the footage as well as discussed the lessons together. The teachers had six meetings on 15 recorded lessons including one meeting beforehand. Teachers' discussions were also audio-taped and the data was transcribed. Teachers extensively discussed their lessons not only in terms of instructional strategies and scientific concepts but also the curriculum organization and teaching goals. Analysis of video-recorded lessons showed that instructional strategies were changed partially, but the aspects of curriculum organization in relation to teaching goals were not changed. Analysis of the recorded data revealed that teachers recognized the problems in their science teaching and considered the practical alternative ideas suggested by peers, but teachers proposed the necessity of experience to practice in their class. The study shows that observing and discussing each other's classes is one possible way to improve the class. Implications about teaching improvement for other teachers were discussed.

  • The purposes of this study were to develop Korean version of the Kolb learning Style Inventory (version 3.1) by systematic translation process and to test learning style of 596 K University-students. First, Korean version of LSI was successfully developed and tested for ensuring internal consistency reliability and internal validity. Second, K University students' average scores of learning modes were as follows: 27.75 of Concrete Experience(CE), 27.93 of Reflective Observation(RO), Abstract 31,95 of Conceptualization (AC), and 32.37 of Active Experimentation(AE). In addition, the study reported KUT students learning style distribution: 32% of accommodating style, 27.2% of Diverging one, 26.5% of Assimilating one, and 14.3% of Converging one.

  • The purpose of this research is the investigation of mathematics pre service teachers' disposition. Their disposition will be used for preposition of preservice Leacher program for making pre service teachers' participate any program willingly and extend their thinking. For this research, the researcher collected various data from investigation-presentation, report for practice and beauty of mathematics, micro teaching, and peer-evaluation. Preservice teachers had positive attitude for mathematics. They described their feeling, thinking and reflection about various methods of instruction and prefer to have micro teaching. They described that the investigation-presentation was needed to change some. From the results, the teacher preparation program is needed to integrate theory and practice to make preservice teachers gain profound knowledge on pedagogical content knowledge by making them high their interest and sensitivity on mathematics.

心なおしによる平和 -現代日本の新宗教の平和主義-

  • 일본의 종교계는 2001년에 일어난 미국에서의 동시다발적 테러사건 이후, 적극적으로 평화를 위한 활동에 뛰어 들었다. 가령 뉴욕에 본부를 두고 있는 세계종교자 평화회의(WCRP)는 일본 종교교단들이 상당히 깊숙이 관여하고 있는 세계적 규모의 종교협력단체로서, 미국에 의한 보복공격의 억제를 꾸준히 그리고 강력하게 호소해 왔다. 1970년에 설립된 이 세계종교자 평화회의의 설립자 가운데 한 사람이자, 30여년에 걸쳐 지도적인 역할을 수행해 온 인물로서 입정교성회(立正佼成會)의 개조인 니와노 닛쿄(庭野日敬)를 들 수 있다. 니와노는 1930년에 법화경에 의한 선조 공양의 가르침을 깨달은 후, 불교의 핵심이 이타행 실천에 있다고 가르치면서 열심히 포교활동을 계속해 왔다. 1950년대 이후에는 종교협력과 사회참여에 적극적으로 전념했으며, 그 결과 입정교성회의 종교활동 전체 속에 평화운동이 큰 부분을 차지하게 되었다. 니와노는 불교의 가르침이야말로 평화를 실현하기 위한 핵심적인 사상을 담고 있다고 설한다. 즉 자연과 타자 사이에 조화로운 관계가 유지되도록 평화의 마음을 실현해야 한다는 가르침이 그것이다. 특히 분노와 질투와 공격적인 마음을 가지지 말며, 자비의 마음으로 타자를 대면하는 것이 중요하다는 것이다. 그는 이것이 우주 본래의 실재와 합치함으로써 가능하다고 주장한다. 이처럼 모든 것이 일치할 수 있다고 굳게 믿는 니와노는 종교협력이 평화실현에 있어 중요한 방법이라고 간주한다. 그런데 니와노가 '평화주의국가 일본'이라는 이념에 많은 부분을 의거하고 있기는 하지만, 이런 이념이 과거의 전쟁에 대한 일본의 충분한 반성에 입각한 것인지는 의문의 여지가 있다. 나아가 그는 상이한 종교간의 일치 가능성에 대해 다소 낙관적이며, 또한 불교와 동양사상이 평화를 지향한다는 이해에 대한 비판적인 성찰이 미약하다는 한계를 안고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 일본의 민속적 종교토양에서 생겨난 종교적 평화주의의 이상 및 실천으로서, 니와노 닛쿄와 입정교성회에 대해서는 충분히 검토해 볼 만한 가치가 있다고 여겨진다.

  • The model of family decision-making in child protection has been widely discussed and adopted in many countries. The purpose of this study was to introduce the model and, then, investigate whether this process is applicable in child care and protection services in Korea. The main goal in the study has been to explore the philosophical and practical foundations of the family involvement approach in decision-making and describe the international applications of the model. Family group conferencing, originally developed and enacted in New Zealand, has been critically examined. The potential contributions of the study may include seeking a more effective intervention for child protection through determining whether the model is appropriate or desirable in issues of philosophy, practice and policy within the Korean culture.

A Study on the Mathematics Teachers' Gender Difference in Teachers' Perceptions of the Affective Domain in Teaching Practice (교사의 성별에 따른 수학 수업의 각 단계에서 정의적 특성에 대한 인식 및 실태 차이에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of the study was to examine teachers' gender difference in teachers' perceptions of the affective domain in teaching practice. This study was conducted with 327 secondary mathematics teachers in Gyeonggi-do by survey method. According to the results, female teachers showed more positive responses in perceptions of the affective domain and teaching practices in the aspect of affective domain at the stage of planning lessons, assessing students, and reflecting lessons. Especially, female group showed higher mean scores than male group in the perception of the value of mathematics at the all stages of teaching.

A Moral Approach of Yulgok Philosophy on Environmental Issue (환경문제에 대한 율곡철학의 도덕론적 접근)

  • It's the situation that modern technological civilization shakes the life environment fundamentally without a serious reflection on the dangers. The sense of crisis' brought the rise of modern Ecology in awareness of survivability of the humanity. Because the serious reflection is not just a campaign for environmental protection, but is to establish the values which is possible to coexist and to make harmony between the nature and man, man and man, and to form a healthy relationship through philosophical thought and practice has intrinsic value for human and nature. Under these circumstances, if Yulgok lives now and he is questioned by the ecological theorists of the 21st century that "What do you think about the serious environmental problem of present times?", what really would be his explanation? In the presentation methods of the explanation, will question first what contents western ecologists who study Theory of the environment in technology, Deep Ecology, and Social Ecology propose, then will compare and introduce what similarities and differences from theirs. As a result, we'll be found that Yulgok's thought, moral consciousness, about the nature and humanity as a confucian scholar.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the formation and development of science teachers' practical knowledge by life history. In the sociocultural perspective, a science teacher is a producer and consumer of knowledge. There were two secondary science teachers who participated in this study. Each of them had three to six years experience in teaching. They were familiar with the researchers because they had been to the same university or were colleagues with them in graduate school for several years. The two science teachers had formed their practical knowledge for their professional development based on their biographical backgrounds. Model of Life history and structure of personal practical knowledge were used as analytical tools. As a result, the science teachers' practical knowledge has shown a significant difference in the main concern and weight according to their life contexts. The science teachers' formation of their practical knowledge played a role as an important motive to improve their professionalism based on the teacher's life path. In addition to that, the science teachers' practical knowledge showed a tendency to be solidified with continuous reflection.

A Study on Aleatorism of Frontal-Flat Camera Angle (정평면적 카메라 앵글이 갖는 우연성에 관한 연구)

  • This research is about effects which frontal-flat cameras have on narrative films. This kind of confined camera angles make the audience have a sense of tension which is barely defined logically. I think the tension comes from aleatorism. The paper is a research on how aleatorism is working on what kind of value, and what kind of effects it has on narrative films. Russian Formalism had argued they had to meet aesthetic values by totally excluding narratives. It can be said that this was a practice for Brecht's estrangement that a sensitive arousal prohibits the audience immersing into excessive empathy and then make them have a reflective thought. But occasionally, optical arousals in narrative films induce deeper immersion into contemplation rather than reflective thought. I intend to find cases regarding this textualising Front-flat camera angles in narrative films and analysing their contents. To do this, I suggest a more specified definition of 'aleatorism'. Because the concept of the aleatorism is different between an aspect of static image like paintings or photographs and narrative contents like cinema. It is divided into approach through form and approach through content. And I also suggest an operative definition about 'Frontal-flat camera angle' with a several confinements because its formal definition is very flexible depending on audience. The case analysis will be done with a form of discourse discerning two aspects of form and content. Conclusively, Frontal-flat camera angle in narrative film is basically have an effect of attention by optical stimuli. But it cannot be said that this always means deterioration of narrative value. Depending on causality of episodes in the whole story, aleatorism which Frontal-flat camera angle has can support immersed contemplation regarding following narrative rather than reflective thought regarding amusing aesthetics.
