  • This study was conducted to investigated the plant community structure and to revaluate the part of plant ecosystem on statement of environmental impact assessment in Muju resort golf course, Solch'on area, Tokyusan National Park. The actual vegetation was comprised of Pinus densiflora-Quercus mongolica-Q. serrata community(33.21%), Q. spp. community(27.30%), P. densiflora community(20.68%) and high mountain marsh(4.93%) etc., which communities were the major vegetation and the forest vegetation was came to being a peculiar to environmental condition. The degree of green naturality 8, 9 was covered 93% in survey area, and so this result reflect the stability of ecosystem. There was all the difference between the statement of environmental impact assessment of development concerned and this study result in the estimation of degree of green naturality. The plant community were divided into six groups in fifty-four plots by DCA and the dividing groups were P. densiflora, P. densiflora-Q. mongolica, P. densiflora-Q. serrata-F. mandschurica-B. davurica, Q. mongolica-Q. serrata-P. densiflora, Q. mongolica-Q. variabilis, Salix koreansis- B. davurica community. Except P. densiflora forest in survey site, the ecological succession trend of the other communities was seemed to be from P. densiflora to Q. spp.

  • This study was carried out to estimate forest biomass and to produce forest biomass thematic map for Muju county by combining field data from the 5$^{th}$ National Forest Inventory (2006-2007) and satellite data. For estimating forest biomass, two methods were examined using a Landsat TM-5(taken on April 28th, 2005) and field data: multi-variant regression modeling and t-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN) technique. Estimates of forest biomass by the two methods were compared by a cross-validation technique. The results showed that the two methods provide comparatively accurate estimation with similar RMSE (63.75$\sim$67.26ton/ha) and mean bias ($\pm$1ton/ha). However, it is concluded that the k-NN method for estimating forest biomass is superior in terms of estimation efficiency to the regression model. The total forest biomass of the study site is estimated 8.4 million ton, or 149 ton/ha by the k-NN technique.

  • The goal of this study was to investigate the diversity of wild yeasts from the waters and soils of Haegeumgang in Gyungsangnam-do, and Namdaecheon and Geumsancheon in upstream of Geumgang, Korea and to characterize any previously unrecorded wild yeast strains. In total, 52 strains comprising 22 different species of wild yeasts were isolated from 35 samples obtained from Haegeumgang. Forty three and sevent nine wild yeast strains were isolated from 90 samples taken from Namdaecheon and Geumsancheon, respectively. Among the total 174 isolated wild yeast strains, 4 strains, i.e., Exobasidium rhododendri HGG10-5 (NNIBR2022633FG1), Udeniomyces pyricola NDC29-1 (NNIBR2022633FG2), Diddensiella caesifluorescens GSC2-2 (NNIBR2022633FG5) and Pichia scaptomyzae BAC2-3 (NNIBR2022633FG4) were previously unrecorded yeasts were oval or spherical in shape, only Pichia scaptomyzae BAC 2-3 formed ascospores. Three strains with the exception of Udeniomyces pyricola NDC 29-1 grew well in vitamin-free medium and Exobasidium rhododendri HGG 10-5 grew well in YPD medium containing 10% NaCl. All four novel strains assimilated fructose, lactose, raffinose, starch and xylose.

  • This study developed a geological virtual reality-based field trip (VFT) to find an alternative to replace the actual field trip, which is often considered lightly by students owing to difficulties in the school. For this purpose, we selected a total of five geological learning sites that focus on the Mt. Jeoksang Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do, Korea by evaluating the contents of the curriculum and the possibility of developing a VFT. The developed VFT provided middle-school students with an interactive space to observe and explore rocks and geological structures, including orbicular granite gneiss, tuff, conglomerate, sandstone, stratification, and joints. A semi-structured interview was conducted with the 1st-grade middle-school students to evaluate the educational value of the VFT. The responses of the students were analyzed using semantic network analysis to understand the significance of relationships between the reaction words. Results show that the students were able to sense reality through the VFT, which enabled them to understand and remember the characteristics of rocks. Therefore, students can indirectly have a sense of reality of an outdoor experience through the VFT program, which positively influences their learning. Our study shows that VFT can be effectively utilized as a meaningful learning resource in schools.

  • First, having noticed that the paper on which the Mugujongkyong from the Sokgat'ap was Broussonetia Kazinoki Siebold, produced under the Tochim process, it is confirmed that the paper used for printing the Mugujongkyong form the Sokgat'ap was Broussonetia Kazinoki Siebold produced in Shilla, by introducing the common fact that the papers on which : written in 755 A.D.) and in Soochung-sokt'ap Hwaomasa were written were the same paper fabricated by the Tochim process. Therefore it is proved that the printing place of the Mugujongkyong from the Sokgat'ap was also Kyongju region in Shilla. Furthermore it is proved that the year of storing Broussonetia kazinoki Siebold n which tarani of the Mugujongkyong was written was circa 705 A.D., provin12g that Broussonetia Kazinoki Siebold was in production in Shilla in 8th Century. Also by confirming the fact that very thin -- mere 0.019mm thick -- Broussonetia Kazinoki Siebold was in production in Shilla in 8th Century, it is proved that Shilla has ability to produce Broussonetia Kazinoki Siebold for Woodblock printing purpose. Second, concerning the Muju Characters written in the ugujongkyong from the Sokgat'ap, mixed use of the Muju Characters was noticeable in written in 755 A.D. from the Sooch'ungsokt'ap at the Hwaomsa written in the same era and the Tripitaka Koreana in Japan was printed in 690's A.D. because of appearance of the Muju Characters in the Saddhamapun-darika is erroneous.

  • This paper aims to explore the characteristics of Bogeumjari Housing Program and its significance to housing policy, and propose an appropriate direction of future housing policy for low-income households without home ownership based on actual data on housing careers and preferences of the policy target households. Supply of Bogeumjary Housing is characterized by consolidation of existing housing program, housing support by income level, differentiation of eligible households, and housing subscription on-line. Bogeumjari Housing Program is meaningful in that it is a policy that resumed the supply of permanent housing, provides multi-tier support system by income level, and adjusts the imbalances in housing demand and supply. Despite their strong preferences for Bogeumjari Housing, their affordability is very low due to their low income levels and gloomy outlook for household finances. In this light, the government should pursue housing policies that include not only new housing constructions, but also efficient use of housing stocks, expansion of loans for first-time home buyers, and introduction of home mortgage and housing voucher.
