Suggested reading lists in South Korea have been developing in various aspects thanks to the general understanding of importance of reading education and an increases in the number of school libraries and children libraries. A majority of previous researches consider the suggested reading lists as selection tools. However, this paper selects 17 well-known suggested reading lists and indicates their values as important information source. In this process, the research analyses the recent trends in the 17 suggested reading lists in 10 aspects: history, retrieval methods, developing institution, type of reading lists distribution methods, subject specification, participation of librarian, bibliographic information, subject classification and grouping target reader. From analysing these aspects, the paper suggests a need of unified information from authorized and children-information-related institutions.

선형대수 교육과정 연구 단체(LACSG, The Linear Algebra Curriculum Study Group)는 1990년 그의 결성과 함께 선형대수 교육과정에서 중점적으로 고려해야할 다섯 가지 추천 목록을 발표하였다. 그 중 가장 두드러진 특징은 기존의 형식적이고 엄밀한 벡터공간 중심의 선형대수 교육과정을 보다 실용적인 행렬중심으로 바꿀 것을 주장하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 벡터 공간 중심의 교육과정과 행렬 중심에 기반한 교육과정의 역사적 흐름에서 행렬 중심의 교육과정이 우위를 차지하게 된 배경을 살핀다. 또한 이러한 교육과정과 맥을 같이한 선형대수 교과서의 변천과, 행렬의 곱의 전개를 중심으로 두 중심사이의 차이를 논한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine how corporate names are treated in the OPACs in Korea, and to find out how well the authority control is implemented. A corporate body often has different names and different forms of names which should be properly linked in the OPACs. Without the help of either references or internal links among such names and forms of names in the OPACs, users are likely to fail in getting the right results, In this study, the OPACs from the five major libraries, the National Assembly Library, KISTI, Yonsei University, the National Central Library, and the KERIS were examined. Major common findings include (1) the lack of consistency in applying cataloging rules, (2) the lack of proper authority control in treating corporate names, and (3) the lack of references or links among names and variant forms of names. Because of the small scale of this study, more comprehensive and thorough study seems to be needed. However, the overall improvement of cataloging practices and application of authority control is strongly suggested, based upon the findings.

Language skills in science education seem to have a great impact on student achievement. Most of the language skills affecting students' science learning can be accounted for an understanding of scientific terms. The ultimate goal of this study is selecting and grading the scientific terms for science education. As a basic research, we investigated scientific terms contained in science textbooks, because they are the most basic and selected terminologies. As a result of investigation of scientific terms in physics units of middle school science textbooks, we made a list of 556 scientific terms by grade level. This includes 249 words for grade 7, 170 words for grade 8, and 137 words for grade 9.

서울출판인포럼은 지난 10일 서울 조선호텔에서 가진 조찬모임에 이해찬 교육부 장관을 초청, '교육과 출판' 을 둘러싼 광범위한 의견을 나눴다. 이장관은 교육부가 초.중.고 권장도서목록을 올해 안에 선정할 수 있도록 30명으로 이뤄진 '새로운공동체추진위원회'(가칭)를 이달 25일까지 발족시키고, 이를 강력히 실천할 수 있도록 지역단위의 '새교육공동체 시민모임'의 정착에 간접지원하겠으며, 독서가 학교 교과과정의 한 형태로 자리잡을 수 있도록 제도화하겠다고 밝혔다. 교육의 입장에서 바라본 이장관의 독서와 출판에 대한 시각과 함께 출판인과 나눈 대화 내용을 정리해 싣는다.

The Korean Library Association has developed the Korean Cataloging Rules, fourth edition(KCR4) in 2003 and the National Library of Korea developed integrated version of KORMARC formats in 2006 on the basis of KCR4. Many educational institutions and libraries are currently cataloging based on KORMARC. Nevertheless, we have encountered many problems on KCR4 and KORMARC formats which needed to be modified. This study is aimed at pointing out the problems of KCR4 in describing 245 field which has a crucial and important role. Therefore, this study proposes the improvement methods of the use of parenthesis and subfield code in 245 field, and presents a description format of volume number, statement of responsibility and joint works including more than four persons.

In South Korea nowadays, Among the married immigrant women in Korea, the proportion of long-term residents living in Korea for more than 10 years is increasing continuously(48%), while the proportion of short-term residents who are under 5 years is decreasing(16%). However, Korean language education and related research in the Marriage and Immigration Women's Center are still focused on the initial immigrants. Therefore, we should classify married immigrant women according to their stay time in Korea, so that Korean language education and teaching materials need to be more diversified. This study focuses on married immigrant women with intermediate and advanced Korean proficiency and chooses a catalogue of Chinese characters idioms to explore the possibility and educational value of using Chinese characters Idioms in Korean education. According to the research results, Chinese characters idiom education can help married immigrant women in Korean language learning and information acquisition, interpersonal relationships and life attitudes, cultural understanding and social adaptation, child rearing and learning guidance. This is the important part of Korean language education that needs to be guided by married immigrant women. Based on this, 130 Chinese characters idioms in Korean language education and textbook development centered on married immigrant women were selected and catalogue edited in four stages. It is hoped that the results of this study will serve as a reference for Korean language education research and textbook development for married immigrant women in the future.
