Design and Implementation of a Motivation Model Using Edutainment Strategy on Mobile Learning Environments (에듀테인먼트 전략을 활용한 모바일 학습 환경에서의 동기 모형의 설계 및 구현)

  • Over online education based on wired Internet technologies, due to recent development of various mobile technologies, education based on mobile environment becomes popular. In the meanwhile, the young students are more interested in game-based education that provides more interaction and instant feedback than one-way cramming education. The purpose of this thesis is to develop a new motivation model for mobile environment and apply the model to the elementary school students. The proposed model, based on Keller's motivation model, is designed to increase study effects through motivating students with various game strategies. The proposed motivation model has the following characteristics. First of all, the best game genre can be provided for each study theme in early planning stage. Second, the model can allow students to have more interests in their study activity by providing various edutainment elements. Third, a stage of producing game synopsis and concrete scenario is included in motivation model. The stage enables more complete combination of game and mobile motivation strategies. Finally, the proposed model allows contents developed to be appled in teaching plan without any refinement. That is, the model allows a teaching plan to be extracted from study contents instantly.

Analysis for SEM of ARCS Factor and Persistent Learning-Intension in Educational Mobile App (교육용 모바일 앱의 ARCS 요인과 학습지속의도에 관한 구조모형 분석)

  • This study is aimed to perform the qualitative evaluation based on the ARCS Model of educational mobile applications for smart phones. The evaluation has been performed targeting 60 students who attending the subject of informational education in 3 different universities in 2012 by allowing them to select the available educational mobile App installed in their smart phone. After, the level of persistent learning-intension from each student and the efficacy of ARCS motivational strategy was measured at learner's perspective. The structural equation model(SEM) was established and analyzed with PLS method to understand the relationship between the ARCS motivational strategy and the persistent learning-intension. The results of the study could be summarized as followings. First, the educational mobile App in various the motivational strategies showed different results that is the highest attention as well as the lowest satisfactory level. Second, the relevance in motivation strategies had the statistically significant effect in attention, confidence, and satisfaction. On the other hand, the other factors of attention, relevance, and confidence showed statistically significant effect in satisfaction. Finally, result demonstrate that the relevance is the critical factor inducing the significant effect in persistent learning-intension among the motivational strategies.

Improving Computational Thinking Abilities Through the Teaching of Mathematics with Sage ('컴퓨팅 사고력(Computational thinking)' 향상과 Sage 도구를 이용한 수학교육)

  • Recently in major industrial areas, there has been a rapidly increasing demand for 'Computational Thinking', which is integrated with a computer's ability to think as a human world. Developed countries in the last 20 years naturally have been improving students' computational thinking as a way to solve math problems with CAS in the areas of mathematical reasoning, problem solving and communication. Also, textbooks reflected in the 2009 curriculum contain the applications of various CAS tools and focus on the improvement of 'Computational Thinking'. In this paper, we analyze the cases of mathematics education based on 'Computational Thinking' and discuss the mathematical content that uses the CAS tools including Sage for improving 'Computational Thinking'. Also, we show examples of programs based on 'Computational Thinking' for teaching Calculus in university.

Spatial Indexing Method of Moving Objects for Efficient Mobile Map Services (효율적인 모바일 지도 서비스를 위한 이동 객체의 공간 색인 기법)

  • In order to index exactly moving objects(vehicle, mobile phone, PDA, etc.) in a mobile database, continuous updates of their locations arc inevitable as well as time-consuming. In this paper, we propose a spatial indexing method of moving objects for the efficient mobile map services. In detail, we analyze the characteristics of both the method to re-index all the objects after each time period and the method to update immediately the locations on reporting their locations. We also newly propose a bucket split method using the properties of moving objects in order to minimize the number of database updates. The experiments conducted on the environments of moving object show that the proposed indexing method is appropriate to map services for mobile devices.

  • 스마트폰의 확산에 따라 스마트폰의 교육적 용도에 대한 조사를 실시하였다. 본 연구에서는 스마트폰의 용도에 대한 양적인 조사를 연구 범위로 하고 조사방법론으로는 T-스토아의 분야별 어플리케이션 숫자를 파악하는 방법을 취하였다. 조사 결과는 어학/교육 어플리케이션의 숫자가 게임보다는 많았으나 FUN 어플리케이션에 비해서는 1/4도 되지 않는 실정이었다. 어학/교육 어플리케이션의 경우 유아와 초중고생을 위한 어플리케이션이 주류를 이루고 다음으로는 생활영어 어플리케이션이 뒤를 이었다. e-book의 경우에도 소설이 60%에 달하는 등 아직 교육적 용도로 개발된 어플리케이션의 비중이 미약하다는 사실이 조사되었다.

  • 모바일 컴퓨팅 기능은 휴대의 편리성과 장소와 시간에 구애 없이 인터넷을 사용할 수 있다는 측면에서 많은 사람들의 관심과 수요자가 계속 증가하고 있다. 이러한 시대적인 요구에 따라 학교 학습 교육도 기존의 유선에 의한 학습 시스템 외에 무선 상태에서 언제 어디서나 학습이 가능한 무선 학습시스템 개발에 많은 관심을 가지고 있다. 본 연구는 시대적 환경을 고려하여 모바일 환경에서 학습능력이 가능한 평가시스템을 설계한다 학습시스템의 기본 설계 내용은 최근 모바일 환경에서 활용 가능한 지문을 이용한 문제풀이 기능, 반복문제 풀이, 연속 다운로드 그리고 사용자 편리성 등이 고려되고 있다. 그리고 이를 디스플레이 할 수 있는 시스템을 설계한다.

Development of mobile counseling program for the promotion of voluntary problem solving of disabled persons and families (장애인과 가족의 자발적 문제해결증진을 위한 모바일 상담 프로그램 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to design and develop the Mobile Disabilities Family Counseling (MDFC) application as a tool to voluntarily solve problems that disabilities family faces in every day life and investigate the effects of the application. To do so, counseling contents were designed and the MDFC application was developed based on ADDIE, an educational program model. Contents consisted of the results of need analysis of people with disabilities and their family and extracted literature review. The MDFC developed has following distinctive characteristics: 1) people with disabilities and their family can voluntarily participate in the MDFC and solve real problems and intrinsic ones; 2) chatting counseling of the MDFC allows client to choose his/her time and chatting program; 3) the MDFC and confirms client's objective data in mobile counseling by connecting and recommending online psychological tests of counselor. The effectiveness of the MDFC contained high satisfaction rate in contents, counseling procedure, problem solving, manual, recommendation, information gathering and showed high level of counseling access. These results of the study also suggest useful development ideas for future mobile counseling programs.

Convergence Effect of Mobile-Based Military WithYou Program (모바일 기반 군 위드유(WithYou) 프로그램의 융복합적 효과)

  • This study was attempted to examine the effectiveness of mobile-based military WithYou programs. The research design was a quasi-experimental study with one group pretest-posttest design. Data were collected from 17 December to 23 December 2020. 42 and 37 members of the Air base in City C participated in the pretest and posttest, respectively. A video education program developed to inspire bystander intervention efficacy and the intention of helping peers and strangers was provided on mobile. The data collected before and after attending the program were analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-test. The results showed that mobile-based military WithYou program was effective in increasing the intention to help friends and others. Attempts to develop and apply educational content using mobile devices for military personnel will be meaningful.

  • In introducing memory methods in various educational fields, programs in a mobile environment can be used for the purpose of increasing accessibility and enhancing the effectiveness of education. It is much easier to remember words with meaning than to remember numerical information such as years. From the standpoint of increasing the educational effect, the part that needs to be supplemented with the help of the application can be said to be numerical information. Most studies related to conventional numerical memory have focused on the form that helps memory by imaging numbers. In the paper on memory-based meta-record algorithms in the mobile environment, the application developed in the previous study attempts to supplement this by discovering and simply modifying the user's mistakes in the entered numerical information. In this study, we aim to increase the memory rate by constructing metadata based on personalized log information and correcting mistakes. To do this, applications suitable for the mobile environment are developed, a structure of meta-record data is proposed, and meta-record application algorithms are implemented and evaluated.
