  • This work is to extend the elliptic operator, which has been already adopted in turbulent stress model, to fully developed turbulent buoyant channel flows with changing the orientation of the buoyancy vector to be perpendicular to the channel walls. The turbulent heat flux models based on the elliptic concept are employed and closely linked to the elliptic blending second moment closure which is used for the prediction of Reynolds stresses. In order to reflect the stable or unstable stratification conditions, the present model introduces the gradient Richardson number into the thermal to mechanical time scale ratio and model coefficients. The present model has been applied for the computation of stably and unstably stratified turbulent channel flows and the prediction results are directly compared to the DNS data.

  • The dynamic characteristics of a system can be critically influenced by system uncertainty, so the dynamic system must be analyzed stochastically in consideration of system uncertainty. This study presents a generalized stochastic model of dynamic system subjected to bot external and parametric nonstationary stochastic input. And this stochastic system is analyzed by a new stochastic process closure method and moment equation method. The first moment equation is numerically evaluated by Runge-Kutta method. But the second moment equation is founded to constitute an infinite coupled set of differential equations, so this equations are numerically evaluated by cumulant neglect closure method and Runge-Kutta method. Finally the accuracy of the present method is verified by Monte Carlo simulation.

  • Considering an integral equation governing the motion of unfolding fin, an algebraic equation was acquired to get estimated minimum deployment energy required for the successful fin unfolding under the given wind condition. To complete the integration of moment, some approximations had to be introduced particularly to frictional moment and aerodynamic damping for which deployment angular speed of the unfolding fin was modelled as a function of deployment angle only with assumed profile using expected maximum angular speed. Technique for the estimation of the minimum required deployment energy was finalized by introducing the ideal deployment angular speed representing work done by the fin unfolding device alone during fin unfolding and was confirmed by comparing results from simulation with various aerodynamic conditions and profiles of the hinge torque.

  • This paper uses loop-star basis functions to overcome the low frequency breakdown problem in method of moments (MoM) based on electric field integral equation(EFIE). In addition, p-Type Multiplicative Schwarz preconditioner (p-MUS) technique is employed to reduce the number of iterations required for the conjugate gradient method(CGM). Low frequency instability with Rao Wilton Glisson(RWG) basis functions in EFIE can be resolved using loop-start basis functions and frequency normalized techniques. However, loop-star basis functions, consisting of irrotational and solenoidal components of RWG basis functions, require a large number of iterations to calculate a solution through iterative methods, such as conjugate gradient method(CGM), due to high condition number. To circumvent this problem, in this paper, the pMUS preconditioner technique is proposed to reduce the number of iterations in CGM. Simulation results show that pMUS preconditioner is much faster than block diagonal preconditioner(BDP) when the sparsity of pMUS is the same as that of BDP.

  • Newly developed control methodology applied to dynamic system under random disturbance is investigated and its performance is verified experimentall. Flexible cantilever beam sticked with piezofilm sensor and piezoceramic actuator is modelled in physical domain. Dynamic moment equation for the system is derived via Ito's stochastic differential equation and F-P-K equation. Also system's characteristics in stochastic domain is analyzed simultaneously. LQG controller is designed and used in physical and stochastic domain as wall. It is shown experimentally that randomly excited beam on the base is controlled effectively by designed LQG controller in physical domain. By comparing the result with that of LQG controller designed in stochastic domain, it is shown that new control method, what we called $\ulcorner$Heo-stochastic controller design technique$\lrcorner$, has better performance than conventional ones as a controller.

  • The integral equations used in electromagnetic fields theory can be used for scattering problems. We can obtain various characteristics of scatterer. Ie, power pattern, scattered field, by finding current distribution on the scatterer. In this paper, current distribution on polygonal cylinder is obtained using integral equations in 2 dimension. For numerical aualysis, the moment method is used with pulse function as a basis function and integral equation is used with extrapolation method, which saves cpu time.

  • In this paper, the relation between displacement of piezoelectric disk and electric field was proposed. From Navier-Stokes equation and Reynold's equation, the relation between flow and gap of plate was determined. This models were further verified by experiments. Based on theoretical study and experimental verification, the proposed model between flow rate and voltage can be used in the design of mass flow controller in gas supplying system.

  • An interaction of turbulent boundary layer and local roughness effects was evaluated to investigate the shear frictional coefficient in diffuser. Clauser roughness function was applied to Karman's integral equation for governing equation. The roughness of overall and local diffuser surfaces were calculated using Cole's wall and wake law and Clauser's roughness function for turbulent boundary layer characteristics. The calculating results were compared with the experimental results of other paper. It shows some significant improyements for shear frictional coefficient. Computer code was then used to confirm the behavior of local frictional coefficient along with diffuser roughness surface for some reduction of shear flow stress.

  • An alternative technique (or the numerical solution of Fredholm integral equations of second kind is presented. The approximate solution is obtained by fitting the data in mixed form at knots in the region of the problem. To decrease the error in the numerical solution, cubic B-spline functions which are twice continuously differentiable at knots are employed as basis function. For a given example, the results of this technique are compared with those of Moment method employing pulse functions for basis function and delta functions for test function and found to br in good agreement.
