In general, an error budget of monopulse radar is proposed by manufacturer who assuming that all of external enviromental error resources such as multipath, glint, dynamic lag variation are removed. So until now, a measurement uncertainty of monopulse radar can be discussed including external enviromental error resources. In this paper, it is described that which kinds of error resource can effect on monopulse radar measurement uncertainty for different target property. To prove it experimentally, at first a simulation result is described assuming that all of external enviromental error resources are removed. It only includes receiver thermal noise. And then, monopulse radar measurement uncertainty estimation results tracking on calibration target which is fixed on specific position, calibration sphere which is moving slowly, weapon systems firing test which is moving fast are described quantitativly. All of these targets have different dynamic property.
This paper presents the realization schemes for a multipurpose coherent mono-pulse radar Simulator with extendable features. We developed and installed the TSG(Timing Signal Generator) board which can simulate a mechanically rotate signal of antenna, an operation timing signal of pulse radar and target signal, to operate the simulator without real target in the indoor environment. Also, with the insertion of the radar signal processor, it came to be easy to achieve the addition of radar function algorithms, to rebuild or extend the multi-DSP Architecture into the simulator. Throughout the simulation results, we verified that the designed coherent mono-pulse radar simulator can exactly display a moving target on the realistic monitor(RD 9800).
In this paper, estimation angle performance analysis of amplitude-comparison monopulse radar under additive noise effect is dealt with. When uncorrelated white noises are added to the squinted beams, the angle estimation performance is analyzed through the mean square error(MSE). The numerical integration-based mean square error result completely overlaps the Monte Carlo-based mean square error result, which corresponds to 99.8% of the Monte Carlo-based mean square error result. In addition, the mean square error analysis method based on numerical integration has a much faster operation time than the mean square error method based on Monte Carlo. the angle estimation performance of the amplitude comparison monopulse radar can be efficiently analyzed in various noise environments through the proposed numerical integration-based mean square error method.

Monopulse RADAR is the radar which detects the range of the target using a single transmitted signal. In this paper, using 9.41GHz X-band radar, the research for the phase comparison monopulse algorithm used in the marine environment is conducted. In addition, by applying the phase comparison monopulse algorithm, we calculate the RMSE for the various antenna spacings and the positions of the target. Based on that result, we compare the performance of the phase comparison monopulse algorithm in the uniform linear array with that in the non-uniform linear array. Finally, the differences in performance among the MUSIC algorithm, Bartlett method and the proposed phase comparison monopulse algorithm are analyzed.

A monopulse feeder gives the most important impact upon the radiation pattern characteristics of a multi-function radar or a tracking radar which uses the space feed. It is described that the triple-mode type monopulse feeder which possesses the optimum aperture illumination for three monopulse channels is designed and measured in this paper. The measured results show that the designed feeder has not only the characteristics of the optimum aperture illimination in each channel and also very low return loss over the 10 % of fractional bandwidth at X-band. This means that the feeder provides the antenna system with low sidelobe level and high monopulse slope characteristics.

In this paper, we proposed an enhanced monopulse MIMO radar system for the tactical scenario where the ground receivers are connected wireless backhaul and closely spaced. By applying the ${\alpha}{\beta}$ filter to the conventional monopulse MIMO radar, we show that the localization performance can be improved significantly. We also propose an efficient localization algorithm for a system with lower rate feedback. Using numerical simulations, we demonstrate that the proposed scheme can improve the localization performance while reducing the feedback over conventional scheme.

Sidelobe canceller(SLC) requires main beam pattern(SUM beam) and auxiliary beam patterns for rejection of sidelobe noise jammer. For best performance of sidelobe noise jamming cancellation of adaptive SLC, gain dominant region of each auxiliary beam pattern shall not be overlapped one another in elevation/azimuth regions of sidelobe of main beam, and beam patterns of auxiliary channels should have low gains in regions of mainlobe of main beam. In the monopulse radar, the difference beam patterns for monopulse processing have these properties. This paper proposes the method using data from the difference channel for monopulse processing as data from auxiliary channel for sidelobe cancellation. For the proposed SLC, the results of simulation and performance analysis was presented. If the proposed method is used in the monopulse radar, SLC can be constructed by using basic SUM and difference channels without extra channel composition.

This paper describes the subarray channel configuration and calibration method for airborne AESA radar antenna. AESA radar demonstrator was designed and implemented for the digital beam-forming performance test of the 12 channel subarray structure. Magnitude and phase difference can be exist between the manufactured subarray channel. In this paper, calibration method for the subarray difference error was suggested. We measured digital monopulse slope in the subarray channel and verified the channel calibration effect. To verify the subarray channel operation, digital monopulse channel was compared with analog monopulse channel performance. AESA radar demonstrator was tested in the ground far field test range. Emulated single target was generated to test the detection and tracking performance of the demonstrator with the same waveform and search pattern. We verified that the detection and tracking performance of the 12 subarray digital monopulse channel was similar with the conventional analog monopulse channel. Also, ABF(Adaptive Beam-Forming) function for the sidelobe jammer was tested and effective operation was verified.
In this paper, it is shown how the performance of the monopulse algorithm in the presence of an additive noise can be obtained analytically. In the previous study, analytic performance analysis based on the first-order Taylor series and the second-order Taylor series has been conducted. By adopting the third-order Taylor series, it is shown that the analytic performance based on the third-order Taylor series can be made closer to the performance of the original monopulse algorithm than the analytic performance based on the first-order Taylor series and the second-order Taylor series. The analytic MSE based on the third-order Taylor approximation reduces the analytic MSE error based on the second-order Taylor approximation by 89.5%. It also shows faster results in all cases than the Monte Carlo-based MSE. Through this study, it is possible to explicitly analyze the angle estimation ability of monopulse radar in an environment where noise jamming is applied.
In this paper, it is shown how the performance of the monopulse algorithm in additive noise is evaluated. In the previous study, the performance analysis of the amplitude-comparison monopulse algorithm was conducted via the first-order and second-order Taylor expansion of four variables. By defining two new random variables from the four variables, it is shown that computational complexity associated with two random variables is much smaller than that associated with four random variables. Performance in terms of mean square error is analyzed from Monte-Carlo simulation. The scheme proposed in this paper is more efficient than that suggested in the previous study in terms of computational complexity. The expressions derived in this study can be utilized in getting analytic expressions of the mean square errors.
