Approximate Friction and Gravity Compensation in Haptic Laparoscopic Surgery Simulator (햅틱 복강경 수술 시뮬레이터의 마찰력 및 중력 보상)

  • Laparoscopic surgery is being used in various surgical fields because it minimizes scarring. Laparoscopic operations require practical hand skills, so surgeons train on animals and via surgery training tool sets. However, these tool sets do not give the surgeon the sensation of touching real organs. A recently developed laparoscope simulator has a high friction force along the translational axis and a high gravity force along the pitch axis, and therefore it does not permit the operator to control his or her hands delecately. In the paper, the friction force along the axes is auumed to depend on the veolcity, and the gravity force on the angle and distance. We develop a compensation model that combines the gravity and friction force models.

  • Since the nonlinear factors such as friction in a mechanical servo system can't be easily measured nor estimated accurately. Therefore, it is difficult to compensate friction correctly. Friction makes a significant error in a 2-axis stabilized gimbal system and finally fails to reach the ultimate control performance goals. To solve these problems, lots of studies on the control methods applying observer have been performed. However, these methods can be used in specific conditions and are limited to apply them to the accurate 2-axis stabilized gimbal system in military sector. This paper deals with the PI-LEAD algorithm which is modified with a general and robust PID algorithm, proves the effect of the algorithm through modeling and simulation, and verifies the performance by applying the algorithm to the real 2-axis stabilized system. It is verified through the performance test that the PI-LEAD algorithm minimizes the error caused by friction and meets requirements of the accurate servo system.

Position Control of Servo Systems Using Feed-Forward Friction Compensation (피드포워드 마찰 보상을 이용한 서보 시스템의 위치 제어)

  • Friction is an important factor for precise position tracking control of servo systems. Servo systems with highly nonlinear friction are sensitive to the variation of operating condition. To overcome this problem, we use the LuGre friction model which can consider dynamic characteristics of friction. The LuGre friction model is used as a feed-forward compensator to improve tracking performance of servo systems. The parameters of the LuGre friction model are identified through experiments. The experimental result shows that the tracking performance of servo systems with higherly nonlinear friction can be improved by using feed-forward friction compensation.

Nonlinear Friction Compensation using the Information of Integral Controller (적분 제어기 정보를 이용한 비선형 마찰보상)

  • This paper presents simple and effective nonlinear friction compensation methods. When the direction of position command reverses, the integrator output of the PID controller does not change the sign of its output instantaneously, due to friction at zero velocity, i.e. stiction resulting tracking errors, that results in continuous push even though the command direction has been changed. To overcome this problem, we attempt to reverse the sign of the integrator output as the sign of velocity changes. The effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated by experiments on a 3-PRPS (Prismatic-Revolute-Prismatic-Shperical joints) in-parallel 6-D.O.F manipulator. The control strategy has been analyzed for stability. Also discussed are disturbance observer and velocity observer approaches for friction compensation.

  • 기계의 정밀도 향상을 위하여는 기계에 대한 보다 정확한 해석을 요구한다. 그러나 실제 기계 시스템은 마찰, Backlash, Saturation등과 같은 비서형 특 성을 가지고 있어 시스템의 해석 및 제어가 어렵게 된다. 특히, 축, 링크, 기 어, 풀리, 베어링등의 기계요소에서는 마찰로 인해 정밀도가 크게 덜어지고 있어, 마찰에 의한 동특성 및 제어는 많은 연구자들에 의해 관심의 대상이 되어 왔다. 마찰력을 고려한 기계시스템의 운동은 정지상태 근처에서 마찰력 의 변화가 심한 비선형 동특성을 보이고 있어 그 해석에 어려움을 겪고 있 다. 실제 마찰이 저속에서 고급 비선형임에도 불구하고 가장 널리 사용되는 형태의 모델로서 쿨통 마찰을 고려한 운동방정식 조차 비선형성으로 인하여 해석에 어려움이 따르고 있다. 마찰은 오랜동안 연구되어 오면서 Fig.1, Fig2 와 같이 등가선형점성 감쇠, 쿨통마찰, 정적마찰로 모델화되거나 이들의 조 합으로 나타내었다[1-5]. 마찰력은 시간영역에서도 연구되어 Walrath[7]는 Fig.3-a의 속도가 역전되는 지점에서 마찰토오크가 .+-.Tf를 공유하는 문제 를 고려하기 위해, Fig.3-b와 같이 동적마찰모델을 사용하였다. 최근의 연구 로서 Armstrong[7]은 마찰의 위치의존성을 고려한 정확한 마찰모델을 설정 하여 개루프제어에 적용, 좋은 제어특성을 확인하였고, Canudas[8]는 저속영 역에서 overcompensation시 limit cycle과 gain의 관계를 해석하였다.

Performance Enhancement of Motion Control Systems Through Friction Identification and Compensation (마찰력 식별과 보상을 통한 운동제어 시스템의 성능 개선)

  • This paper proposes a method for measuring friction forces and creating a friction model for a rotary motion control system as well as an autonomous vehicle testbed. The friction forces versus the velocity were measured, and the viscous friction, Coulomb friction, and stiction were identified. With a nominal PID (proportional-integral-derivative) controller, we observed the adverse effects due to friction, such as excessive steady-state errors, oscillations, and limit-cycles. By adding an adequate friction model as part of the augmented nonlinear dynamics of a plant, we were able to conduct a simulation study of a motion control system that well matched experimental results. We have observed that the implementation of a model-based friction compensator improves the overall performance of both motion control systems, i.e., the rotary motion control system and the Altino testbed for autonomous vehicle development. By utilizing a better simulation tool with an embedded friction model, we expect that the overall development time and cost can be reduced.

  • 본 논문은 마찰력을 갖는 기계시스템에 대한 시간최적제어문제의 엄밀한 해를 제시한다. 특히 최적제어입력을 되먹임 형태로 구한다. 기존의 연구들에서 미리 보상되거나 무시되던 Coulomb 마찰력까지 완전히 고려하여 빠른 응답을 얻는데 제어입력을 최대한 활용할 수 있게 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 비선형 마찰이 존재하는 조준경 안정화 시스템에 대해서 마찰력 보상과 성능개선을 위한 신경망제어기의 설계방법을 제시한다. 제안한 신경망제어기는 비례, 적분, 진상(PI/LEAD) 제어기와 신경회로망과의 병렬로 구성되며, 제어 목적은 비선형 마찰과 외란이 존재하여도 안정거울의 각속도 추적성능과 안정화 성능의 향상에 있다. 신경회로망의 입력으로 안정거울의 각속도 추적오차와 추적오차의 적분, 제어입력이 필터를 통과한 신호가 사용되며, 신경호로망은 간접학습구조에 의해 학습된다. 조준경 시스템의 비선형 마찰력인 쿨롱마찰력의 크기가 외부환경에 따라 변하는 경우와 시스템으로 외란이 인가되는 경우에 대하여도 제안한 병렬제어기는 기존의 PI/LEAD 제어기보다 추적과 안정화 성능면에서 우수함을 컴퓨터 모의 실험으로 확인한다.

A Combination Study on the Elevation Motion Friction Compensation Parameters in Gas Spring (1) (가스 스프링 Elevation 동작 마찰력 보상 변수 조합 연구 (1))

  • In this study, factor analysis was performed to reduce the friction in the elevation motion of a stand for a 50-inchtelevision. Pipe type cross-section control was used for accurate positioning control of the piston rod. The pipe type was also compared with a labyrinth-type crosssection for the orifice. The frictional force was then reduced using gas seal lip technology. Specifications were chosen, and a volume compensation experiment was carried out using an apparatus for compensating the volume of the cylinder, which is compressed by the volume of the piston rod. Based on CAE and experimental considerations, the labyrinth-type orifice is preferred for reducing friction. For the gas seal lip technology, outer and inner diameters of ${\Phi}20$ and ${\Phi}8$ for the hollow rod were more appropriate when assuming the weight of a 50-inch television to be 30kgf. The third is that the result of total consideration in stability problem and performance of volume compensation for specification decision and volume compensation experiment is determined the final speculation of hollow rod ?8x?4 and riveting system. The last is that the labyrinth orifice is not founded that of the ${\O}0.4{\sim}0.6$ orifice both tests on 300 mm intervals.
