  • Because the concepts and components of computational thinking included in the Information Education Curriculum and the Software Education Guidelines are different, it has been difficult to establish computational thinking-based software education in schools. Therefore, this study, which is based on the Delphi survey results from 39 experts, we defined computational thinking as 'computing thinking' and separated the components of computational thinking into five main categories: (1) problem definition, (2) data analysis, (3) abstraction, (4) automation, and (5) generalization. In addition, we selected software areas that are strongly related to computational thinking in the KAIE's information Curriculum Standard Model and surveyed experts to decide which computing thinking components are related to the achievement criteria of the software areas.

  • The goal of this study is to suggest evaluation tools to assess computational thinking(CT) skills in primary robot-based programs. In addition, the researcher has expanded its evaluation approaches to include interpersonal competencies from the socio-cultural perspectives, not just focusing on intrapersonal competencies. In order to pursue the research goal, one-semester robots programs for the fifth graders were designed, and evaluation tools including a learners' CT competencies survey and a learning process monitoring rubric were developed. The results of this study are meaningful because it has expanded the evaluation approaches to connect to the concepts of CT and to include interpersonal aspects from the socio-cultural perspectives.

  • Through the fourth industrial revolution and coronavirus pandemic situation, the necessity and importance of SW education are being emphasized more. However, it is difficult to achieve the effect of improving students' computational thinking skills by just 17th hour, which is organized in the 2015 revised curriculum. Moreover, due to the coronavirus pandemic situation that has continued since last year, there are environmental restrictions on the equal SW education for students at the educational site. In this study, the unplugged class using a completion robot was designed to reflect the current situation at the educational site and experience of SW education was provided to the 6th graders of J elementary school. Through the application of a class, we checked whether the unplugged class using robots affect students' perception of SW education and the use of computational thinking skills. As a result, the unplugged class using a completion robot showed that students used computational thinking to solve given problems and had a positive impact on changes in perception of SW education.
