Analysis of Radio Propagation Environment of Busan Area for Terrestrial D-TV Service (지상파 D-TV서비스를 위한 부산지역의 전파환경 분석)

  • Characteristics of digital broadcasting are multi-channel, high-definition and multi-function. especially, multi-function is enable us to do a variety of services except for an image and a voice. This paper, therefore, is analyzed propagation environment in Busan into ETRI model application about 지상파 DMB service. It takes to be simulated in Busan area around the mountains area and high building. So it measures the electric field strength in standards. Distribution pattern are similar with mutually in the 이론 and real measurement. Even areas are almost the same, but urban areas and mountains are different with mutually. Therefore, we conclude that ETRI propagation model and theoretical modeling in a free space in Busan area is not suitable.

  • As analog broadcast has replaced digital broadcast and HDTV broadcast has settled as a standard of broadcast system in Korea, most of broadcast in Korea send interlaced signal. For TV uses interlaced scan order, deinterlacing which converts interlaced signal into progressive signal has remain important. In this paper, efficient deinterlacing method considering continuity of edge direction is proposed. Deinterlacing along with the dege of an object is one of the main issue for better visual quality. Thus, an algorithm introduced in this paper consider not only the edge of object but continuity so that a better result is drawn forth. The result shows that the proposed algorithm excels comparing with conventional algorithms.

  • TV businesses that have brought a competitive structure in terms of price, definition, product design for a long time now are bringing User eXperience (UX) into relief as DTVs come to support broadcast information-related services such as various broadcast channels and Electronic Program Guide(EPG), etc., and playing of multimedia contents like music/videos, etc. This study worked on an evaluation by developing a UI to control easily the various and complex broadcast contents or multimedia contents provided by DTVs. The UI Design for new DTVs was developed based on Function, Flow and Form in the concept of Single ABC (Access, Browser and Control), and the usability test of the developed UI concept along with the UIs of the major DTV products, was done for Channel Managers and the multimedia browsers for 32 users of DTVs in the U.K./U.S., respectively. As a result of the usability test, the new concept of Channel Manager was evaluated high both in the U.K./U.S, while the multimedia browser was evaluated low in the U.S., relatively.

  • 홈 엔터테인먼트 서비스는 홈 네트워크 서비스의 하나로서 홈 네트워크를 통해 제공되는 TV, 영화, 게임과 같은 다양한 디지털 콘텐츠를 TV라는 매체를 통해 PC와 같은 TV와는 다른 디바이스에 존재하는 다양한 콘텐츠를 손쉽게 즐길 수 있는 콘텐츠 서비스의 형태라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 다양한 기기에 존재하는 콘텐츠를 손쉽게 이용할 수 있는 허브 장치로서 STB(Set-top Box)가 대두되고 있다. STB가 허브 장치로서의 기능을 하기 위해서는 서로 다른 기기들과의 연계시 발생하는 여러 문제점들(예 : 조작의 불편)을 해결하고 이를 통합 조정할 수 있는 어플리케이션이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 STB와 멀티미디어 기기 중의 하나인 HTPC(Home Theater PC)를 예를 들어 두 기기간의 연동 환경에서 STB 리모컨을 통해 HTPC를 제어할 수 있는 어플리케이션에 대해 연구한다. 이를 위해 이종 단말기 간의 연동을 위해 RMI(Remote Method Invocation)의 클라이언트/서버 통신 메커니즘을 응용하였다. 이를 통해 HTPC 뿐만이 아닌 다양한 디바이스를 STB에 연결하여 활용할 수 있는 좋은 예가 될 수 있을 것이다.

Design of Loop Antenna Using Coplanar Waveguide Feeding Method (동일면 도파관 급전방식을 이용한 루프안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, a wideband loop antenna is designed using a CPW feeding method for indoor digital TV applications. The proposed loop antenna consists of a square loop and two circular sectors which connect the loop with central feed points, and the CPW feed line is inserted in the lower circular sector. The CPW feed line is designed to match with the 75 ohm port impedance for DTV applications, and the ground slots are etched in order to improve the impedance matching in the middle frequency region. The optimized antenna is fabricated on FR4 substrate, and the experiment results show that it operates in the frequency band of 463-1,280 MHz for a VSWR < 2, which assures the operation in the DTV band.

  • 이 논문에서는 조립형 실시간 OS에서 운용되는 지능형 텔레비젼(Intelligent Television, ITV)을 개발한다. 인터넷에서의 웹기반 TV에 대하여 여러 연구가 있었지만, 실시간 운영체제가 아니어서 여러 문제를 가지고 있다. 이 논문은 실시간 OS에서의 ITV 개발에서 MPEG-4 프리젠터를 중심으로 설명한다. 즉, 미디어 서버에서 분배 관리기, MPEG-4 압축, 미디어 재생기까지의 일련의 미디어 전송 과정을 거쳐 프리젠테이션 과정을 기술한다. 이 논문의 ITV는 한국전자통신연구원에서 개발 중인 실시간 운영체제에서 운용되며, MPEG-1은 물론 MPEG-4 스트림을 지원함으로써 사용자 상호작용이 효율적이다. 또한, MPEG-7 스트림으로 확장될 수 있다. 이 연구의 결과는 QoS는 물론 전송과 재생 속도의 향상을 가져오므로 디지털 TV(DTV) 등에 활용될 수 있다.

  • With the recent spread of digital content, more people have been watching the digital content of TV programs on their PCs or mobile devices, rather than on TVs. With the change in such media use pattern, genres(types) of broadcast programs change in the flow of the times and viewers' trends. The programs that were broadcast on TVs have been released in digital content, and thereby people watching such content change their perception. For this reason, it is necessary to newly and differently classify genres(types) of broadcast programs on the basis of digital content, from the conventional classification of program genres(types) in broadcasting companies or relevant industries. Therefore, this study suggests a plan for newly classifying broadcast programs through using machine learning with the log data of people watching the programs in online media and for applying the new classification. This study is academically meaningful in the point that it analyzes and classifies program types on the basis of digital content. In addition, it is meaningful in the point that it makes use of the program classification algorithm developed in relevant industries, and especially suggests the strategy and plan for applying it.

  • This essay provides a critical introduction to some of the major issues relating to ITV Digital. The demise of ITV Digital has hit the economics of broadcasting industry in UK. ITV Digital's failure is seen as digital nightmare. This study approaches to three dimensions of the failed ITV Digital. There are the failure of policy, business strategy, technological debacle. As I have discussed, competitive environment of digital broadcasting squeezed ITV Digital into financial trouble. In order to examine current development of digital terrestrial television, three questions have been raised. First, What is the government of digital broadcasting? Second, What is the business strategy of ITV Digital? In particular, the failure of business model deserved careful watching. Third, What is the failure of digital technology?

  • Motion capture means the recording of movement of objects such as human beings, animals, creatures, machines, etc in a form applicable to computer. Since the motion capture system can be introduced to the fields where realistic movement of human beings and animals, which cannot be attained with an existing key frame method is required, large scale is necessary or economical burden exists, it has a merit and possibility of new expression. For these reasons, this method is increasingly used in the field of digital entertainment such as movie, TV, advertisement, documentary, music video, etc centering around the game. However, in spite of such an advantage, problems such as too much advance preparation work in digital image expressions using motion capture, marker attachment, compensation of motion data, motion retargeting and lack of professional human resources, etc. are becoming a prominent figure. Accordingly, this study intends to suggest the way of more effective production of motion capture digital image through finding the problems and their draft possible solutions in the production process based on the image production examples using motion capture.

  • OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)is a one of the nst promising digital modulation techniques adapted for Digital audio broadcasting or Digital TV since it is very robust against multipath fading channels. From 1997, since the OFDM technique was considered as the physical layer standard for the high data rate wireless LAN systems in the 5㎓ band, related studies have been studied actively. The key element to implement high data rate wireless LAN system using OFDM technique are IFFT and FFT modules. In this paper, new IFFT and FFT module are designed and implemented using current cut circuit based on the matrix-rounding process for the low-power consumptive operation and high-speed data processing. In addition to, we certify the available operation of the rounded IFFT/FFT module in the AWGN channel by using the BER performance simulation of IEEE 802.11TGa based OFDM modem with rounded IFFT/FFT module.
