Designing and Evaluating Digital Video Storyboard Surrogates (디지털 영상 초록의 설계와 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study examines the design and utilization of video storyboard surrogates in the digital video libraries. To do this, first we constructed the arrangement model of key-frames for storyboard based on the FRBR model, image communication and PRECIS Indexing theories and evaluated the model using 6 sample videos and 26 participants. The study results show that the video storyboard surrogates based on the arrangement model has a higher accuracy value in terms of summary extraction than that of the sequential video storyboard. Moreover, watching both types of video storyboard one after another, especially browsing the sequential video storyboard first and then the arrangement model-based one, produces a remarkable increase in accuracy value of summary extraction. The study proposes two methods of utilizing the video storyboard surrogates in the digital video libraries: Designing a video browsing interface where users can use the sequential storyboard as a default and then the arrangement model-based one for re-watching; and utilizing the arrangement model-based storyboard as structured match sources of image-based queries.

  • Interactive broadcasting service using wired/wireless Internet return channel has strong ripple effect. It allows the audiences to participate actively to the program they are watching, and communicating. This paper develops an authoring tool that makes an object-formed interactive advertisement from extracted areas of the advertising object the user specified in TV programs. In the authoring tool, the advertisement producer specifies the target object subjectively and the selected object keeps moving here and there repeatedly. Therefore, it is hard to make an object-formed interactive advertisement with existing tools. This paper suggests sketch-based interface technique for extracting advertising objects, and also provide evaluation functions to correct any sketch error. This paper also converts the area of object into MPEG-4 BIFS codes for authoring the object-formed interactive advertisement.

  • In this paper, we describe about interactive electronic book utilizing tabletop display interface and digi-pet. Because of this system can define a lot of gestures using touch point of finger, help that user experiences electronic book effectively more than existent input device. Also, support 1 users in 1 input device in existent mode, but this system can expect various effect because support Multi-user. The digi-pet(digital pet) is physical tools that convey emotion between tabletop display platform and user. And this shows various results acting as assistance because becomes master of story of imagination and participate directly on talk and makes change of story. In this paper, we described about oriented electronic book system the future that combines tabletop display and Digi-pet. This system is expected that the usefulness is increased by leaps and bounds along with technology development forward.

  • In this paper, we implemented a user - oriented adaptive English typing program using class and function structure provided by Python to get English learning effect while effectively typing English on PC. The user of the implemented English typing program creates a text file of required English example sentences and links them to use it for direct English typing exercise. In addition, based on the English sentence used in the English typing exercise, it is possible to obtain the English learning effect by providing the ability to perform the memorization test. The interface of the program is structured in the form of a game so that it can be accessed interestingly, and the ranking among the users is disclosed to provide a positive function. We expect that the implemented program will improve the user's English typing speed and improve the English learning effect.

  • In this paper, a new fully digital control method for UPS inverter, which is based on the double control loop such as the outer voltage control loop and inner current control loop, is proposed. In the proposed control system, overshoots and oscillations due to the computation time-delay are compensated by explicit incorporation of the time-delay in the current control loop transfer function. The inner current control loop is adopted by an internal model controller. The internal model controller is designed to a second order deadbeat reference-to-output response which means that its response reaches the reference in two sampling time including computational time-delays. The outer voltage control loop employing P-Resonance controller is proposed. The resonance controller has an infinite gain at resonant frequency, and the resonant frequency is set to the fundamental frequency of the reference voltage in this paper. Thus the outer voltage control loop causes no steady state error as regard to both magnitude and phase. The effectiveness of the proposed control system has been verified by the simulation and experimental results respectively.

  • This is a user experience study of factors that should be considered in designing home appliances experience service. Untact services are emerging, but the development of home appliances sector is in early stage. Based on the six factors of Stephen P. Anderson's Creating Pleasurable Interface Model, this study conducted surveys, 1:1 in-depth interviews, and participation observations to measure and analyze user experience. In this study, I compared 4060s and 2030s's user experience in that the untact services raise the digital alienation among middle-senior-aged. As a result, there were significant differences between the two, including the opposite satisfaction in terms of reliable, usable and pleasurable factors. I hope that this study will be of strategic help in designing future home appliance experience services.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop a design model of a smart jacket incorporating MP3 functionality for commercial use, as one of the digital lines of textile to apply If technology. In order to conduct this study, the previous studies were analyzed and usability and wearability tests were conducted using five prototype design models of smart wear with MP3 functionality. Accordingly, the smart jacket incorporating MP3 functionality for commercial use, for which user-centered interface, usability and wearability were completed, was developed by optimizing the design and location of the input interface, control module, the path of wires and earphone etc., based on textile wire and keypad. The smart jacket targets the female dress market from late-teens to early twenties. It will be a high value commodity considers all aspects of recent fashion trends, consumers' emotional satisfaction and the value of digital wear.

  • Distribution, duplication and manipulation of the digital contents are very easy due to the characteristics of the digital contents. Thus, damages of invasion of property right rapidly increase due to infringement of copyright for the digital contents. To prevent illegal use and to settle conflict about ownership of the digital contents, continuous efforts with enormous expense are devoted. In this paper, we design and implement real-time audio watermarking system to protect ownership and copyright for the digital contents. The proposed system also clarifies where the responsibility about the illegal distribution lies. The system has convenient user interface so that general administrator without an expert knowledge of the protection of copyright can use easily. In addition, unlike the traditional watermarking system, our system has merit to offer information about the illegal distribution for clear post-management.

  • 최근 인터넷에서 많은 관심을 보이고 있는 개인 미디어(UCC;User Created, Contents, VC2;Viewer Created Contents, 이하 UCC-사용자가 직접 제작한 미디어 콘텐츠를 불특정 다수에게 제공하는 서비스) 중에 비디오/오디오 콘텐츠를 영상 콘텐츠의 기본적인 매체라 할 수 있는 TV상에서 직접 즐길 수 있다면 미디어의 대상과 그 미디어의 Entertainment적인 효과는 배가될 것이다. 디지털 케이블 방송에서 UCC와 같은 다양하고 많은 미디어 콘텐츠를 디지털 TV상에서 서비스를 하고자 한다면 현재의 OCAP(OpenCable Application Plat form)기반에서는 RVOD(Real Video on Demand)와 동일한 서비스 모델을 가져야 하는 부담과 UCC 제공을 위한 방송 플랫폼별 인터페이스가 필요할 것이다. 이러한 문제점을 Return Path를 통한 RTP(Real-time Transport Protocol;RFC1889)을 이용해서 기존의 VoD(Video on Demand)스트림의 대역에서 분리하고 별도의 VOD프로토콜을 구현함으로써 라이브 방송환경과 동일한 인프라의 지속적인 확장보다는 일반적인 네트워크 프로토콜을 이용하여 VoD서비스를 위한 인프라에 많은 영향을 받지 않는 서비스가 가능할 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 RTP를 위한 Set-Top-Box상의 다운로드 가능한 구조의 클래스 분석과 클라이언트 대응의 UCC Transcoding 및 전송을 위한 스트리밍 서버의 설계에 중점을 두고 경량화 된 VOD서비스 및 시스템을 설계함으로써 방송환경 하에 On-Demand서비스의 효율적인 확장성과 보다 많은 콘텐츠 등록 및 활용의 기회를 가져올 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

A Study on the Characteristics of Children's Experience Exhibition Based on Tangible User Interface (TUI(Tangible User Interface)기반의 어린이 체험전시 특성 분석 연구)

  • This study is a basic research towards diffusion of discourse regarding TUI-based experience exhibition. In that purpose this study tries to find out the development type of children's experience exhibition using TUI by analyzing children's experience exhibition phenomena that are changing in digital environment. For the sake of this research, cases of experience exhibitions were analyzed and characteristics were derived based on TUI(Tangible User Interface) and on the types of tangibles. As results of this study, TUI elements were found in the order of interactive planes, connection of bits and atoms, and environmental media and Tangibles were ranked in the order of stuff, planes, devices, and space types. This fact shows that TUI is actively used in experience exhibitions where children's active participation and extended experience is necessary.
