Trends of the Industrial Design Influenced by Post Modernism (포스트모더니즘의 영향에 따라 나타난 현대 산업디자인의 제 경향)

  • Modern Society is tuning to the wide organized social structure with highly varieties. To the cultural aspects in these days of the late-indusoial society, due to the post-modernism. This kind of trend was found in overall fields of studies. Therefore, the post-modernism is to be a kind of a modern spirit ruling over the late 20th century. Post-modernism is a vague expression, that was begun to appear in various artistic intellectual, ideologic trends with a repulsion of modern design after the World War II. The present age as a modern society slews a distinguished mark of undifferentiation disorganization and relaxation, disassembling of social structure. With the study on the background of occurrence, character and philosophy for the post-modernism, the theoretical background of post-modernism could be seen. According to the influence of post-modernism, the minimalism, retro-design, kitsch-design, deconstructionism-design deconstructionism-design, new materia1-design and cyber-design shown on each trend of modern industrial design were studied.

  • Social recognition conversion of the jewelry-related industries must be preceded by changes of responsibility of both the staff in charge and educators in education objections. Based on the debate of whether or not increasing (public) interest in jewelry design will subsequently lead to bringing about vision and possibility in the form of cultural management, this paper examined the influences that logical systematization of jewelry design and educational process of jewelry designers' ethics have on the next generation of the cultural industry of jewelry. Through the education and the industry of Italy, this paper analyzed existent method of design, current trend, and new content sand cases of design management that are based on types of consumption. In addition, it also provided the developmental possibility of future culture industry, and the foundation of ethical philosophy of jewelry education that lies beyond national economic power. I intend to imply significance of how designer's perception and conduct provides the whole new conventional foundation of sympathy and sensitivity and the existent method of design.

  • This study adopts 'intersectionality' as a key concept of Sheila Levrant de Bretteville's design works. As a method of research, this research suggests the definition of intersectionality, from the idea of black feminism. Analysis of the features are such as 1) Typography of speech, 2) Collection of narrative, and 3) site specific installation. The inclusion of the various situations of the individuals reflected in the design throughout de Bretteville's works has made it possible to guarantee the intersectionality. De Bretteville overthrows the context of the power in which the design is placed, embracing forgotten or less illuminated positions. As a result, this research could derive three implications such as 1) visualization of invisibility, 2) subjectification of object, and 3) demarginalization of marginality. The perspective of the intersectionality are in line with the values of contemporary Korean society and might be an insight for researchers who want to establish a design philosophy.

  • 크로우 아일랜드 초등학교는 미국 근대교육 및 학교 건축사에서 기념비적 위치를 차지하고 있다. 1940년 건립된 이래 현재까지도 초등학교로서 그 기능을 유지하고 있으며 진보적인 교육철학이 학교 건축으로 구체화된 사례로 학교건축의 원론적 가치들은 시대의 흐름에도 불구하고 유효함을 웅변해 주고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 크로우 아일랜드 초등학교의 계획 특성을 자기 수용형 단위교실의 구성, 아동중심공간의 실천, 통합디자인의 적용이라는 측면에서 살펴보고 그 의미를 고찰하였다.

  • Vision is the most important sense of the five senses in our body. This represents that an eye is for the mysterious organ playing the essential role in our body. Alain Mikli known as a famous spectacle designer in France said that glasses exists for seeing and for being seen. This saying is one of the philosophically well-organized definition of the most fundamental function of eye-glasses described in and out of itself. Today, in the world, there are a number of works of glasses design and lots of glasses designers are designing hard in order to convey the goods with the best value and philosophy to customers. They work for the goal that glasses is used as seeing and try to give customers satisfaction and enjoyment of it. And they think that glasses should play the role of the interface. At this point, we need to catch hold of the interface of glasses. That means that glasses has to have the communication between eyes and objects and be the mediation of the connection between the image of oneself and that of one by others. For the character of the interface of glasses, glasses designers should plan and investigate this character at the being of design. This study of optical art has been researched for the necessary and sufficient condition between consumers and products.

  • In early 20th century a tendency of composite art -the aesthetical historian's struggle to unify various genres including paintings with architecture -appered which was created on the basis of spacial thoughts. On aesthetic interpretation of arts the object of aesthetic cognition is formed not just by itself but by aesthetic consciousness systems and this means the object can be classified with basic type that has various figures within its aesthetic categories. Here this study is purposed to prescribe space as an object of aesthetic cognition and define its conceptional characteristics stylistic expressions then to play a role as basic study of aesthetics of architectural space forming aesthetic cognition and analysis of architecture.

  • Simulacre is one of the major topics in the Western philosophy since Plato. Since the 20th century, the Western philosophy is based on rationalism toward 'absolute truth' founded on Platonic Ideas. The concept of Simulacre is ignored and rejected until the modern days. However, Simulacre is gaining its attention at this time of image. and the time of Simulacre. The concept of postmodern Simulacre started from Walter Benjamin is developed by Gnther Anders, Jacques Derrida, Gilles Deleuze, and Jean Baudrillard. This study, based on the Jean Baudrillard's concept of Simulacre, examines today's Simulacre phenomena and analyzes the cinematic works of Oshii Mamoru who displays the concept of Simulacre in his films. Analyzing and evaluating his recent visual works based on Simulacre theory with such superficial methods as advanced special visual effects is a mistake that demeans Simulation? (Matrix). Today, Simulacre phenomena are scattered all over our life. The search of its substance and the analysis of his artworks will be a foundation that makes a new alternative suggestion.

A Study on the Expression of Musical Vitality at the Chapel at Ronchamp - Focusing on the Bergsonian Philosophy of Life - (롱샹 성당에서 음악의 생명성 표현에 관한 연구 - 베르그송의 생명철학을 중심으로 -)

  • This study aims to show the possibility of approaching artistic design through the Bergsonian concept of musical vitality by grasping the expression of his musical vitality at the Chapel at Ronchamp. For the purpose of this study, the aesthetic significance of Bergson's philosophy of life was first contemplated, and a case study analysis was conducted on the vitality of music as temporality at the Chapel at Ronchamp. On this basis, the examples of his musical vitality as metaphysical reality at the Chapel were analyzed. The results of analysis are as follows: First, the Bergsonian vitality of music as temporality at the Chapel is expressed as a sense of movement-through the acoustic form, the modulor corresponding to the scale of the music, the opposite composition of musical changes, the fluid space of the music, and the light and shadow of counterpoint-as having been intended by Le Corbusier in the very process of design. Second, the vitality of music as Bergson's metaphysical reality at the Chapel at Ronchamp is expressed in the image and rhythm of music created by intuitive reminiscences. The acoustic form, the form created by the modulor, the opposite form of composition, the fluid space and the light and shadow as the melody and image of music present continuous diversity as vital flow in a uniform direction. The vitality of music as aesthetical reality is imitated by the rhythm of the music deriving from repetitive movements sensed here. Consequentry, the Chapel at Ronchamp can be seen as a vital design that expresses Bergson's notion of musical vitality, indicating that an approach toward artistic design can be realized through his musical vitality. This study holds significance as basic research on artistic design with philosophy and music as its origin.

Fusion Factor Analysis of Seal Wandangyego Engraved by Oh Gyuil (오규일이 새긴 인장 완당예고의 융합 요소 분석)

  • This study attempted to publicize the excellence of art of seal engraving in the Joseon Dynasty by analyzing the fusion factors of seal 'Wandangyego' which Oh Gyuil engraved. The appearance of Wandangyego was compared with other seals. The calligraphy philosophy in Wandangyego, the composition of inmun Wan-Dang-Ye-Go, and Oh Gyuil's method of holding graver were analyzed. As a result, Wandangyego was the world's largest rectangular seal and contained the writing philosophy of his teacher Kim Junghee. Oh Gyuil was a seal engraving artist and expert in the manufacture of seal handles. He used 'chungdo' and 'jeoldo' appropriately, and stimulated the deliberate emotion of oriental art with layout applied with exquisite oriental golden ratio. The importance of the real seal was suggested, and it was proved that the seal Wandangyego was a prominent work worldwide. The results of this study are expected to be a new research methodology for analyzing the fusion factors in painting, sculpture and design.
