  • The purpose of this research is to systemize the fashion digital storytelling by analyzing the communication method and its elements, and extracting the characteristics and processes of digital storytelling. Based on the previous study on the characteristics and types of storytelling the following things have been researched: 1) the process of digital storytelling in the communication process, 2) the concept and the feature of the academia of digital storytelling 3) storytelling in the document research. On the groundwork of the document research, we were able to sort out the various types, and formed a system of the features in the fashion digital storytelling cases, mainly in the four collections (Milan, Paris, London, New York) from 2000's to recent years of 2010. The types of fashion digital storytelling are episode type, narrative type, and creative type. The characteristics of each of the types are as follows. Firstly, the episode type communicates through the digital media based on the information or fact of the fashion designer brand. Secondly, narrative type communicates with the consumers using previous literature or an existing idea of the original cultural form that is rearranged in digital story expressed by the digital media. Lastly, creative type makes the designer's and consumer's susceptibility and creativity communicate through the newly made story, which expresses the unique originality of the designer. It seems that the cases and studies of using the fashion digital storytelling will increase because of its short history and lack of the case study. Fashion designer brands will show their brand image using the digital storytelling because they are able to better express originality, creativity and imagination of the fashion designer, which were factors that could not be conveyed through fashion alone.

  • With the increased importance of design creativity in global fashion marketplaces, there have arisen numerous promotional strategies for new fashion designers in Korea, yet little research has been done on this subject. This study examines the new fashion design promotion policies in Korea and their effects from the designer's perspective. First, we analyzed the contents of twenty-one strategies from thirteen organizations regarding the types of support from the strategies. As a result, four distinct types are identified: new designer recognition; information and consulting support; brand incubating; and marketing support. Next, we performed in-depth one-on-one interviews with eleven designers who had been awarded from one or more of the fashion design incubation policies. The results reveal that the incubating policies' cash rewards and space support are found to be most effective. In terms of the revised fashion and brand consulting policy, "brand operation" had an influence. In addition, fashion the new brand advertisement and marketing policy had positively influenced the "brand development." However, throughout the interview, designers note that the quality of education and information provisions need some improvement. Furthermore, the designers indicate the lack of supervision and professionalism from the marketing departments. Based on this content, this study emphasizes the necessity of an effective fashion design promotion policy, and strategic and consistent support for the whole fashion promotion team. At the minimum, an integrated and united supervision by the organization is necessary and should be taken into consideration.

Interviews were conducted with owners of 15 designer brands to explore fashion technologies needed in the field based on the business operation stage (study 1), and an online survey of owners of 61 designer brands was conducted to verify their priorities (study 2). A total of 12 fashion technologies were derived from study 1, including 2 market analysis stages, 6 season planning stages, and 4 product operation stages. In study 2, importance and satisfaction were measured with 12 fashion techniques derived from study 1, and importance-performance analysis (IPA) was performed. The technologies of product management with image tagging and sales channel matching were considered to be the fashion technologies that should be developed first. Second, in the case of maintenance, demand prediction and price determination were applicable. Third, over-effort avoidance was revealed through market analysis and design generation. Finally, in automatic product detail page creation and digital marketing, development was the lowest priority. The results of this study are expected to provide insight into priority areas for fashion technology developers and policy departments providing emerging brand support.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to upgrade brand logo's equity by objective and professional evaluating tool. A brand logo is the main factor in making brand equity, but many times a brand logo is decided without objective judgment because making a logo is considered an intuitive process. To minimize the poor judgment by non-experts, a brand logo needs objective numerical grading tool. Thus, a brand logo is a factor in making a brand identity, not only brand image. That is why brand logo must be chosen by an expert's object judgment. The concrete method to obtain a objective, and at the same time professional grading tool which can De used for the developing and verifying process for a brand logo is as below-first, considering brand judgment from various angles through existing literature, I found various logo grading factors and then extracted them with professional identity designer's subjective consideration. second, applying extracted factors to actual logo grading, verify as a efficient design management tool

  • This article examined how the amount of information presented in ad design affect consumer's evaluation on the ad Existing researches have mainly considered external information presented in the ad from the resource principle perspective. This study investigated how internal information processing such as imagery information processing caused by brand names moderates persuasion effects according to the amount of external information through two experiments. The experiments leave us the conclusion that brand names presented in the ads stimulate imagery information processing when surplus cognitive resources do exist and they lead ad recipients' evaluation to positive direction in prestige brand condition and to the contrary to negative direction in non-prestige brand condition. The results contribute to the direction of ad design in that ad needs not contain as muck product-related information as needed in order to increase persuasion effects in prestige brand condition. Rather, it's necessary to leave the room for internal information processing such as imagery information processing by well structured brand equity. On the contrary, non-prestige brand needs to contain explicit product-relevant information to exert a potent influence on a4 persuasion. We hope this study result is helpful for design direction of advertisement in order to heighten persuasion effects toward ad recipients.
