A Study on the Application of Topic Modeling for the Book Report Text (독후감 텍스트의 토픽모델링 적용에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore application of topic modeling for topic analysis of book report. Topic modeling can be understood as one method of topic analysis. This analysis was conducted with texts in 23 book reports using LDA function of the "topicmodels" package provided by R. According to the result of topic modeling, 16 topics were extracted. The topic network was constructed by the relation between the topics and keywords, and the book report network was constructed by the relation between book report cases and topics. Next, Centrality analysis was conducted targeting the topic network and book report network. The result of this study is following these. First, 16 topics are shown as network which has one component. In other words, 16 topics are interrelated. Second, book report was divided into 2 groups, book reports with high centrality and book reports with low centrality. The former group has similarities with others, the latter group has differences with others in aspect of the topics of book reports. The result of topic modeling is useful to identify book reports' topics combining with network analysis.

A Preliminary Study on the Semantic Network Analysis of Book Report Text (독후감 텍스트의 언어 네트워크 분석에 관한 기초연구)

  • The purpose of this preliminary study is to collect specific examples of book reports and understand semantic characteristics of them through semantic network. The analysis was conducted with 23 book reports which classified by three groups. The keywords were selected from the of book reports. Five types of keyword network were composed based on co-occurrence relations with keywords. The result of this study is following these. First, each keyword network of book reports of groups and individuals is shown to have different structural characteristics. Second, each network has different high centrality keywords according to the result analysis of 3 types of centrality(degree centrality, closeness centrality, betweenness centrality). These characteristic means that keyword network analysis is useful in recognizing the characteristics of not only groups' and but also individual's book reports.

  • 현장에서 학생을 지도하는 교사들은 독서의 중요성과 독서지도의 필요성을 인식하면서도 독서지도에 많은 부담을 느끼고 있다. 또한 획일적인 독후감 쓰기를 강요함으로써 많은 초등학교 학생들 또한 독서를 감동이나 즐거움이 아닌 교과목의 한 과제로 여기고 있다. 본 연구는 초등학생들의 독서 흥미를 유발하기 위하여 독후 감상활동을 자유롭게 할 수 있는 홈페이지의 장을 마련하고 웹상의 독서지도를 통해 일선 학교 교사들의 독서지도 일반화 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

  • Reading ability has been widely considered as one of the basic skills that every student should be conversant with because higher level of thinking power can be acquired through reading. Reading education allows students to build correct way of thinking as well as foster critical thinking ability. However, it can be observed that reading education has not been well addressed accordingly in schools mainly because teachers have only limited amount of time and ability to cope with. In this paper, we developed a Web-based peer evaluation system for improving reading and writing ability so that students are allowed to exchange ideas freely on the Web after reading books as well as evaluate other students' writings, which would facilitate reflective thinking through the computer-mediated communication activities. Students become graders of other students' writings so that they are exposed to different opinions and ideas through which deeper thoughts can be obtained. The learner-centered learning activity instead of teacher-centered may benefit students as well as teachers and the system implementing this idea shows that both students' attitudes and preferences were improved as the result of applying the system to a local elementary school.

  • 본 시스템은 도서관 이용을 목적으로 만들었다. 초.중.고등학교에서 사용 가능하며 학생의 경우 대출, 반납, 도서연장, 희망도서 등록 등을 바코드를 이용하여 안전하고 편리하게 사용 할 수 있다. 앱을 통해 대출한 도서의 대출기간 확인과 대출 기간 연장 기능을 추가하여 연체로 인한 문제를 감소하도록 하였다. 학교 측에서 도서 후기 작성으로 독후감 대회를 주최할 수 있고 학생들이 어떠한 도서를 희망하는지 알 수 있다. 이런 다양한 활동을 컴퓨터뿐만 아니라 앱을 통해 스마트폰에서도 사용가능하도록 하였다.

A Study of the Effects of Reading Activity with Information Guide on the Analytical Reading Material (독서자료 분석제공이 독서활동에 미치는 영향 - 독서캠프 프로그램의 독서후 독서활동을 중심으로 -)

  • Reading activities and after-reading-programs were appled to students of 4 school years from 2 to 5 school year who read subject books separately, in order to activate reading activities after reading. After-reading-programs make, supply and utilize analytical reading materials of subject books for 5 days of reading camp and that consist of composition of impressions of the book, presentation of that reading discussion and a picture of impressions of the book. The results show that most of all composition describing their impressions of the book contributes to activation of reading activities after reading very much among four types of after-readings. The next reading discussion is effective and presentation Is also good. But a picture of their impressions of the book does not vet promote activation of after reading activities.

Curriculum Relevance Analysis of Physics Book Report Text Using Topic Modeling (토픽모델링을 활용한 물리학 독서감상문 텍스트의 교육과정 연계성 분석)

  • This study analyzed the relevance of the curriculum by applying topic modeling to book reports written as content area reading activities in the 'physics' class. In order to carry out the research, 332 physics book reports were collected to analyze the relevance among keywords and topics were extracted using STM. The result of the analysis showed that the main keywords of the physics book reports were 'thought', 'content', 'explain', 'theory', 'person', 'understanding'. To examine the influence and connection relationship of the derived keywords, the study presented degree centrality, between centrality, and eigenvetor centrality. As a result of the topic modeling analysis, eleven topics related to the physics curriculum were extracted, and the curriculum linkage could be drawn in three subjects (Physics I, Physics II, Science History), and six areas (force and motion, modern physics, wave, heat and energy, Western science history, and What is science). The analyzed results can be used as evidence for a more systematic implementation of content area reading activities which reflect the subject characteristics in the future.
