T2 Relaxation Times of the Cingulate Cortex, Amygdaloid Body, Hippocampal Body, and Insular Cortex: Comparison of 1.5 T and 3.0 T (대상회 피질, 편도체, 해마체, 도피질의 T2 이완시간: 1.5테슬러와 3.0테슬러 자기공명영상장치의 비교)

  • Purpose : To compare T2 relaxation times (T2) in the cingulate cortex, amygdaloid body, hippocampal body, and insular cortex between 1.5T and 3.0T MR imagers. Materials and Methods : Twelve healthy volunteers underwent FLAIR and CPMG imaging perpendicular to the hippocampal body at both 3.0T and 1.5T. T2 was measured in the cingulate cortex, amygdaloid body, hippocampal body, and insular cortex. The T2 relaxation time ratios of the cingulate cortex, insular cortex, and amygdaloid body to the hippocampal body were compared between 1.5T and 3.0T. Results : The mean T2 of the cingulate cortex, amygdaloid body, hippocampal body, and insular cortex at 1.5T were $109.5{\pm}3.1$, $117.0{\pm}7.1$, $114.7{\pm}2.4$, and $111.3{\pm}2.4$, respectively; $99.7{\pm}3.8$, $100.7{\pm}4.3$, $97.9{\pm}3.4$, and $96.2{\pm}2.0$, respectively, at 3.0T. Percentage changes of T2 in the cingulate cortex, insular cortex, amygdaloid body, and hippocampal body at 3.0T with respect to those at 1.5T were -8.9%, -13.5%, -14.6%, and -13.5%, respectively. The mean T2 ratios of the cingulate gyrus, insular cortex, and amygdaloid body to the hippocampal body at 1.5T and 3.0T were 0.96 and 1.02 (p = 0.003); 1.02 and 1.03 (p>0.05); 0.97 and 0.98 (p>0.05), respectively. Conclusion : T2 decrease in the cingulate cortex was less than the amygdaloid body, insular cortex, and hippocampal body at 3.0T. The mean T2 ratio of the cingulate gyrus to the hippocampal body was significantly different between 1.5T and 3.0T.

The Behaviour of Shrimp , Palaeman Pacificus , to the Model Trap and the Odour of Baits (함정어구와 미끼에 대한 태평줄 새우)

  • The behaviour of shrimp in response to the trap was much influenced by the type, size and the dimensions of entrance as well as physiological and ecological conditions. The entry and the escape behaviour of shrimp to the model trap were observed in accordance with netting materials, baits, type and slope of entrance, and gathering response were also investigated on the odour of bait extracts in the aquarium from June to August, 1983. Entering shrimp to the circular entrance was significantly more than to the triangular or the square; however, no differences were found in the entry behacior among netting materials i e., P. A, P. E. and cotton. According as the slope of entrance was increased its angle from 0$^{\circ}$ to 90$^{\circ}$, number of entering shrimp was decreased; however, number of escaping shrimp at 30$^{\circ}$or 60$^{\circ}$ with time was fewer than at 0$^{\circ}$ or 90$^{\circ}$. Gathering responses of shrimp on the odours were more sensitive to the flesh of mackerel or the shrimp than to the pickled anchovy, or the pettitioes, while no differences were found between another bait extracts, i e., the shrimp and the flesh of mackerel, the short-necked clam and the horse mackerel, the flesh and the viscera of mackerel.

Present Distribution of Cryophilous Plants and Palaeoenvironment in the Korean Peninsula (한반도 한지선호식물의 분포와 고환경)

  • The distribution of cryophilous arctic-alpine and alpine plants in Korea is reviewed in connection with palaeoenvironment, along with a discussion to their origins, patterns of migration, and their refugia. At present, the estimated number of Korean arctic-alpine and alpine species is 419, and this includes 75 arctic-alpine species, 239 alpine species and 105 Korean endemic alpine species. The disjunctive distribution of cryophilous arctic-alpine and alpine plants is likely to be due to first, the downslope and southward expansion of those species towards the Korean peninsula as a primary refugia from the arctic region as the Pleistocene glacial phases approached, and then their subsequent isolation upslope in mountain areas toward a secondary refugia as the interglacial and post-glacial climatic ameliorations followed; secondly, the expansion of forest tree communities on lowland and montane areas subsequent to the end of the Pleistocene has had the effect of dividing formerly high mountains as a result of the increased competition; and thirdly, the general disapperance or restriction of available habitats for arctic-alpine and alpine species because of post-glacial climatic amelioration. The existence of 139 alpine species exclusively in the north of Korea may be due to the following reasons; first, frequent exchanges of alpine floras with other neighbouring East Asian regions would have been facilitated; secondly, there are numerous high mountains available for the alpine plants to survive and prosper during the post-glacial period; thirdly, the existence of easy accesses between mountains within the north, which has enabled alpine floras to migrate when necessary; and finally, the availability of diverse environments and habitats for the alpine flora of the north. However, the continued survival of those species in Korea at the world's or East Asia's southernmost limits of their distribution for many species is in danger if global warming associated with the greenhouse effect takes place.

Analysis on the Viewing Intention of Mobile Personal Broadcasting by using Hedonic-Motivation System Adoption Model (모바일 개인방송 시청 요인 분석: HMSAM 모델을 중심으로)

  • The latest movement in live video streaming service is mobile personal broadcasting (MPB), which refers to consumers accessing the service through social media with mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablet PCs. This service is possible through the advancements in mobile video technology and platforms. Features such as enhanced user interaction, personalization, and real-time broadcasting, combined with a greater variety of content, have led to the development of MPB. The increase in MPB users calls for research, including that on the hedonic motivational angle. This study aims to assess MPB users' intrinsic motives through the hedonic-motivation system adoption model (HMSAM) using seven factors: joy, temporal dissociation, escapism, focused immersion, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and intention to watch. Survey data collected from 154 samples were analyzed with statistical techniques, such as structural equation modeling. Results showed that time dissociation, escapism, and perceived ease of use have a positive relationship with heightened enjoyment. Joy significantly affects focused immersion and intention to watch. Escapism also had a statistically significant influence on focused immersion. This study contributes to the advancement of the MPB study under the HMSAM theoretical framework and offers practical suggestions to managers to enhance MPB content viewership.

  • 본 연구는 청소년소설을 중심으로 소녀들의 자살 심리를 연구하였다. 청소년소설에 나타난 소녀들의 자살 심리는 십대들이 자살하는 다양한 심리와 크게 다르지 않다. 예컨대 도피 심리, 논의된 결과는 다음과 같다. 자기처벌심리, 보상심리, 보복심리 등이 나타난다. 때론 청소년들은 자신이 원하는 것을 얻기 위해 자살소동을 벌이기도 한다.

Explore to Use of Pod cast Through Theory of Planned Behavior: The Case of Korean Pod casting Users (계획행동이론을 통해서 본 팟캐스트 이용행태: 국내 팟캐스트 이용자를 대상으로)

  • The purpose of this current study is to explore use of pod casting. First, the study investigated types of motivation for using pod casting. Secondly, based on theory of planned behavior, we analyzed how social norm, attitude, and self-efficacy regarding using of pod casting influence people's using behavior of pod casting. We found the four different types of motivation for using pod casting: Everyday life information, entertainment, flee from reality, and professional information. Regarding theory of planned behavior, the theory was significant model to explain use of pod casting, and self-efficacy was the most significant variable to predict use of pod casting.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of romanticism which is expressed in the latest trend and to explain them focused on anti-realistic yearning. As the method of the study, a literature review was conducted. Romanticism started from a complaint against reality and denied the previous era's philosophy and aesthetics. Romanticism placed much value on emotions and imagination. Also, the characteristics of romanticism art contains the yearning for nature, far culture, far past and supernatural world, by escaping from the complex reality which gives disillusionment. Such the characteristic can be easily found in the modern trend. Modern people, who live in the situation that the society is changed into the information society from the industrial society, have clung to the past things because they feel that the known and guaranteed world is finished. And they want to experience the new and various culture and nature escaping from insecurity on complicated reality. Also, the desire of modern people who want to escape from a daily routine world and the reality's limitations is expressed as the yearning for the supernatural world.

Development of the Anger Response Scale and its Application in Clinical Practice (분노반응척도의 개발과 임상적 적용)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to develop the Anger Response Scale(ARS), and then to use the scale in clinical practice. Methods First, a preliminary survey was conducted for 123 healthy adults to obtain 16 response items. Second, a preliminary questionnaire was completed by 258 healthy subjects. Third, a comparison was made regarding anger responses among 189 patients(59 with anxiety disorder, 72 with depressive disorder and 58 with somatoform disorder) and 258 healthy subjects. Results : Factor analysis yielded 4 subscales : aggression, irritability, avoidance and anger suppression. Reliability was computed by administering the ARS to 53 healthy subjects during a 2-week interval. Test-retest reliability for 4 subscales and the total score was significantly high, ranging between .53-.71. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ for 4 subscales ranged between .62-.72, and .76 for the total score. Convergent validity was computed by correlating the 4 subscales and the total score with the total score of Aggression Questionnaire, State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory, anger and aggression subscale of Stress Response Inventory and hostility subscale of Symptom Checklist-90-Revised. The disorder group was significantly higher than normal group in scores of the avoidance and anger suppression subacale. The depressive disorder and somatoform disorder groups scored significantly higher on the avoidance subscale than the normal group. Conclusion : These results indicate that the ARS is highly reliable and valid. In addition, avoidance response is likely to be a characteristic anger response of the depressive disorder and somatoform disorder groups.

The Behaviour of Fishes to the Traps and Their Catch Ability (통발에 대한 어류의 행동과 어획성능에 관한 연구)

  • Difference of the entering and the escaping behaviour of shrimp(Palaemon pacificus) to the model traps were observed in accordance with netting materials, baits, type of traps and slope of flapper, and gathering responses were also investigated on the odour of bait extracts in the aquarium as the preliminary test. In order to investigate the difference in catch according to type and structure of traps those designated from A to E were made of iron frames and nettings. The type A was a conical shape with two entrances at its both sides and the others were square piller shape with one entrance at their upper surface(type B) or two entrance at their both ends(type C, D and E). However th type D and E were connected with flapper and the thye E was made by attaching iron frames of same height under the type D. The traps were prepared 10 each and so a total of 50 traps were used in the experiment at sea. The main species caught was Charybdis japonica, but Astroconger myriaster was also caught fairly. The catches of these species were significant in difference between the types of traps. That is, Charybdis japonica was caught more in type A, C and D than others and less in type B and E, and Astroconger myriaster was caught more in type A and D and less in type B and E. However the catch of Astroconger myriaster in type C, even if less than that in type A showed no significant difference with the other traps. The total catch of Charybdis japonica and Astroconger myriaster was almost same in order with the catch of Charybdis japonica. The type B and E seemed to be difficult in entering of fishes into them. However, the type A and C seemed to be easy not only in entering, but also in escaping. Especially, the type C showed more escaping. On the other hand, the type D seemed to be not so easy in entering of fishes as type A and C, but very difficult in escaping. Consequently, the escaping of fishes from the traps seemed to be more difficult in conical traps than any other traps. The catches might be influenced by the bait with bag compare to without bag and also the immersed time of traps into water for fishing.

Protective Effect of Kimchi against Aβ25-35-induced Impairment of Cognition and Memory (아밀로이드 베타에 의해 유도된 인지 및 기억능력 손상에 대한 김치의 보호 효과)

  • Kimchi is a Korean traditional fermented food with various health functionalities. However, the protective effects of kimchi against Alzheimer's disease (AD) have not been studied yet. In this study, the protective activities of kimchi extract against oxidative stress and AD were investigated in an amyloid beta ($A{\beta}$)-induced AD model using ICR mice. Kimchi extract exerted strong scavenging activities against 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and hydroxyl radical. In addition, T-maze, object cognition, and water maze tests were carried out using the AD model. The $A{\beta}_{25-35}$-injected groups showed impairment of cognition and memory. However, the abilities of novel object recognition and new route awareness were improved by administration of kimchi extract (100 and 200 mg/kg/day) for 2 weeks. Furthermore, the results on water maze test indicated that kimchi extract exerted protective activity against cognitive impairment induced by $A{\beta}_{25-35}$. The present study suggested that kimchi protected against $A{\beta}$-induced impairment of memory and cognition as well as attenuated oxidative stress.
