Study on the Application of Airworthiness Standard for the e-VTOL (e-VTOL 항공기의 감항기술기준 적용 연구)

  • The demand for e-VTOL aircraft is expected to be increased rapidly in the future as a means of urban transportation due to operating cost reduction, eco-friendliness and convenience of vertical take-off and landing using pilot-aids automation system. However, there are many technical hurdles to be solved in securing safety and certification which are essential for commercialization and urban operation. So far, there is no e-VTOL aircraft that has received type certificate and standard airworthiness certificate due to the technical problems and safety requirement differences with conventional aircraft. The e-VTOL aircraft certification should also meet the equivalent level of safety required by the current airworthiness standards, but there are existing problems in securing safety and meeting current standards. In this study, the e-VTOL's certification problems and technical limitations in satisfying the current standards are presented.

Small UAV Failure Rate Analysis Based on Human Damage on the Ground Considering Flight Over Populated Area (도심 지역 비행을 위한 지상 인명 피해 기반 소형무인기 고장 빈도 분석)

  • In this paper, we quantitatively analyzed the required UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) failure rate of small UAV (≤25kg) based on the harm to human caused by UAV crash to fly over the populated area. We compute the number of harm to human when UAV falls to the ground at certain descent point by using population density, car traffic, building to land ratio, number of floors of building data of urban area and UAV descent trajectory modeling. Based on this, the maximum allowable UAV failure rate is calculated to satisfy the Target Level of Safety(TLS) for each UAV descent point. Then we can generate the failure rate requirement in the form of map. Finally, we divide UAV failure rate into few categories and analyze the possible flight area for each failure rate categories. Considering the Youngwol area, it is analyzed that the UAV failure rate of at least 10-4 (failure/flight hour) is required to access the residential area.

  • Demand for UAM (Urban Air Mobility) aircraft is rapidly increasing in countries around the world due to the problem of traffic congestion in urban areas. Through research and development, various e-VTOL aircraft concepts are being prepared for commercialization, for which airworthiness certification is required, since it is a manned transportation mode for people to board. Factors that pose a fatal threat to the safe operation of UAM aircraft include lightning strikes that can cause damage to structures and disturb the navigation system, as well as icing that impairs flight stability. Since the current UAM aircraft-related lightning and icing certification technology development is insufficient, there is need to develop appropriate airworthiness certification guidelines. In this study, after analyzing the laws and regulations related to aircraft by the FAA and the EASA, we tried to incorporate the lightning and icing certification guidelines for the UAM aircraft. We also analyzed the effects of lightning and icing on UAM aircraft using computational simulation, and presented the basis for establishing practical guidelines for the certification of UAM aircraft to be adopted in the future.

  • UAM(Urban Air Mobility) systems have evolved in the form of helicopters in the 1960~1970s, tiltrotors in the 1980s, small aircraft transportation systems in the 2000s, and electric-powered Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) in the 2010s; accordingly, the early heliport has evolved to its current form of a Vertiport. Vertical Takeoff and Landing Sites, Vertiports, are important factors for the successful introduction of UAM, along with the resolution of air traffic control (ATC), air security, and noise problems. However, there are no domestic or international installation standards and guidelines yet. Therefore, in this study, installation standards were prepared by referring to domestic and international case studies, ICAO standards, and MIT research papers. The study proposes to establish standards for Final Approach and Takeoff Area (FATO) as 1.5D, 1D for Touchdown and Lift-Off Area (TLOF), and 1.5D for Safety Area (SA). It also proposes to add "UAM Vertiport Installation Standards" to the 「Act on the Promotion and Foundation of Drone Utilization, Drone Act」.

  • Cities around the world are increasing their demand for Urban Air Mobility (UAM) aircraft due to traffic congestion with population concentration. Aircraft with various shapes depending on fixed-wing and propulsion systems, are being prepared for commercialization. Airworthiness certification is required as it is a manned transportation vehicle that flies in the city center and transports people on board. UAM aircraft are vulnerable to lightning and HIRF environments due to the increasing use of composite materials, the use of electric motors, and use of electronic equipment. Currently, the development of certification technology, guidelines, and requirements in lightning and HIRF environments for UAM aircraft is incomplete. In this study, the certification procedures for lightning and HIRF indirect impacts of rotorcraft shown in AC 20-136B and AC 20-158A issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), were verified and applied to the computerized simulation of UAM aircraft. The impact of lightning and HIRF on ducted fan UAM aircraft was analyzed through computerized simulation, and the basis for establishing practical guidelines for certification of UAM aircraft to be operated in the future is presented.

  • As urban traffic congestion and environmental pollution are becoming significant issues in major cities, Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is gaining attention as an efficient solution. In this study, we conducted a geographic information system (GIS)-based spatial analysis and clustering algorithm considering the actual data of the terrain and infrastructure in the Busan area, through which we were able to select the location of vertiports and corridors (flight routes) for the UAM operation. Based on the Gimhae International Airport, which is expected to be the center of the UAM infrastructure system in the Busan region, we judged that three vertiport locations in the target area were suitable. Subsequently, we used the A* (A-star) algorithm considering Ground Risk to select a flight path that minimized both risk and distance. Through this, we confirmed a risk reduction effect of 80.168% compared to the minimum distance route.

  • Urban Air Mobility is attracting attention as a future innovation industry around the world, and leading industries are considering the application of composite materials for structural robustness and lightening in the designing and manufacturing new concept eVTOL aircraft. To apply composite materials to the new concept of eVTO aircraft, this paper was analyzed about composite material qualification system of FAA & EASA and institutionalized by Korea Government, including the procedures and methods, the organization to carry out the material verification for domestic conditions. The domestic composite material qualification system will not only make it easier for manufacturers of eVTOL aircraft with a new concept to apply composite materials to domestic aircraft through pre-material qualification, but also reduce the burden of material qualification within the period of type certification. In addition, domestic manufacturers of composite materials with qualified material quality and performance will be easy to enter for domestic aircraft applications and composite material manufacturers with experience in applying to aircraft will have a positive impact on overseas exports. This system will be able to promote the development eVTOL aircraft industry of a new concept and enhance international credibility of made aircraft in Korea.

교통량에 따른 배기가스량 산정에 관한 연구 -교차로를 중심으로-

  • 현재 서울은 교통사고문제, 교통혼잡문제와 자동차로부터 배출되는 유해가스에 의한 대기환경오염문제를 갖고 있다. 본 논문의 목적은 대기환경오염을 악화시키는 자동차의 주된 배출오염가스인 일산화탄소, 탄화수소 및 질소화합물량을 교차로 교통량을 중심으로 어떻게 계산하는가에 있다. 연구의 대상지역은 서울시의 송파구 교차로들과 도심지역의 링크들을 선택하였다. 그리고 교통량, 지체시간, 링크길이, 정지회수, 운행속도, 주행속도 등을 고려하여, 제작차 배출가스 허용기준, 총량기준, 불량차 기준, 속도기준 등에 의한 계수산정 및 TRAF-NETSIM에 의한 시뮬레이션을 통하여 일정 도로상의 제한된 범위내의 배출량 산출을 시도하였다. 본 연구의 결과에 의하면 첫째, 어느 방법이든 실제배출량의 정확한 값을 표현 할 수는 없는 것이고, 단지 상대적인 비교에 의하면 배출가스량의 수준을 추정 할 수 있었다. 또한, 시뮬레이션 배출율표를 우리 현실에 맞는 자료에 의해 수정할 수 있다면, 그 결과는 실제량에 보다 근접할 수 있을 것이다. 둘째, 서울도로의 현재 혼잡상태에서 속도의 저감에 배출량이 민감한 반응을 보이고 있다는 사실이다. 셋째, 교통량변화에 따른 배출량의 변화가 일산화탄소에서 가장 심하게 나타남을 알 수 있었고, 신호운영상의 옵셋값이 잘못 설정되면 탄화수소는 35%, 일산화탄소는 40%, 질소산화물은 75%까지 초과발생할 수 있으며, 유해배출가스량을 최소화시키는 측면에서의 신호최적화를 위해서는 현재의 Stop Penalty는 상향 조정되어야 함이 밝혀졌다. 앞으로는 자동차로 인한 대기환경오염 농도의 저감을 위해서는 도로별 자동차 유해가스 배출 총량규제 방안도 고려해 볼 가치가 있으며, 이를 위해 환경공학과 교통공학의 다학제적 공동연구가 지속적으로 필요하며 교통정책에 반영되어야 할 것이다.분석, 리용수 학모형대이십일세기상해항공운량진행예측, 제출발전상해항공운수적전 략목표급발전중점. 예측2020년 상해항공항총객운탄토량4300만인/년, 화운량달120만돈; 2050년객운량장달18150만인차/년, 화운량518만돈. 사, 발전상해민항기출경제정책, 제출위료$\ll$진흥상해, 개발포동, 복무전국, 면향세계$\gg$ 화도이십일세기중기국민경제달도중등발달국가수 평굉관전략목표적실현, 제료필수재지도사상상파교통운수진정방도전략 산업지위, 환응재관리체제상채취과단유효적개혁조시, 재기출경제정책 상급여대력부지. 오, 전략목표, 위파상해건설성위태평양서안최대적경제, 김융, 무역적중심, 요구상해항공항성위화동지구통향세계각지항선망출발참, 구성대외개방선면축심, 실현국제항선적함접화국내항반적전항, 형성다축심복사식항선망; 가강기장건설, 개피포동제이국제기장건설, 괄응포동개발경제발전적수요. 부화개시일은 각 5월 26일과 5월 22일이었다. 11. 6월 중순에 애벌레를 대상으로 처리한 Phenthoate EC가 96.38%의 방제가로 약효가 가장 우수하였고 3월중순 및 4월중순 월동후 암컷을 대상으로 처리한 Machine oil, Phenthoate EC 및 Trichlorfon WP는 비교적 약효가 낮았다.>$^{\circ}$E/$\leq$30$^{\circ}$NW 단열군이 연구지역 내에서 지하수 유동성이 가장 높은 단열군으로 추정된다. 이러한 사실은 3개 시추공을 대상으로 실시한 시추공 내 물리검층과 정압주입시험에서도 확인된다..   • The development status was studied to predict the concept of how drone taxis would be presented in daily life. the results of the analysis on traffic effects of drone taxis showed that they would be an innovative transportation option that could reach a distance of 60km, which would typically take an hour by car, within twenty minutes. Moreover, the economic analysis of existing aircraft development was limited to production (development investment) of the input budget. However, since the drone taxi is a new transportation system, an overall traffic platform, such as its own terminals, would need to be established. So, the production inducement effect was analyzed by dividing input budget into three factors; production, infrastructure, and service. The results indicate this to be an innovative project expected to have an economic ripple effect and reach a total of 24 trillion won after an investment of 13 trillion won (production + infrastructure + service) in Korea from 2020 to 2040.

  • The operation and transportation environment for an unmanned aerial vehicle will be completely different from those for the conventional air and ground transportation. The requirement for a traffic management system for its safe operation has been emerging. Accordingly, investigation is being conducted to analyze the danger that unmanned aerial vehicle may encounter during the flight and to provide the countermeasure by the simulation. When the drones operate in an urban environment, they may be affected by the wind around the building. Thus it is essential to predict the influence of the gust and analyze the resulting risk. In this paper, a method for evaluating the safety for a flight mission under the gust is suggested. By using the precise 6-degree-of-freedom flight simulation that is capable of simulating the gust condition, possible deviation from the pre-planned flight path in terms of the attitude orientation will be predicted. A method of quantifying the probability of the flight mission failure will also be presented.
