Information Use Behaviors of Professors in Design Field (디자인분야 교수들의 정보이용행태 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to effectively provide professors in the design field with information services by identifying their information use behaviors. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires after dividing the specialties of 110 professors in the design field into 4 areas. The results were made in terms of purposes of use and the acquisition channels, types of information sources, difficulties of information acquisition and the library use of the institution. Some suggestions were shown as follows: collection of gray literatures such as exhibition data, seminar data, reports and pamphlets, purchase of web databases in design field, information literacy education including the use of domestic and foreign design databases for the professors and the construction of web directories on the library web sites.

Information Sources and Use of the UN Specialized Agencies (국제연합 전문기구의 정보원과 이용에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to enhance the access and the use of international information sources by analyzing the types and the characteristics of information services and resources of the UN specialized agencies. A brief review of the goals and activities of the 16 specialized agencies involving every aspects of international affairs, such as agriculture, food standards, alleviating poverty, financial stability, labor conditions and health care, are presented with the discussions of the useful documents and publications available at the each agency's WWW page as well as access tools for the resources and information services of the agencies. Finally, some suggestions for more effective international information services are made.

A Study on the Credential System of Librarian in Korea (사서자격제도 개선안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest alternative credential system of librarian in Korea. For this purpose, the study analyzes various aspects of credential system in order to find out characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses. The data used in this study are drawn from current situations and problems analysis, critical literature review case study of six countries, and questionnaire survey analysis. Four different kinds of model are suggested. Those are 'Internal Competency Model', 'Minimum Credits Model', ‘Licence Examination Model', 'Graduate School Model'. This study also suggests further research to develop more adequate credential system of librarian in Korea.

The Effect of Self-Regulated Learning Components on Attitude and Related Skills of Information Literacy among High School Students (자기조절학습 요소가 고등학생의 정보문해에 대한 태도와 정보문해능력에 미치는 영향)

  • This study determined the effect of self-regulated learning on the attitude and related skills of information literacy in school library project learning. In addition, in-depth interview was administered in order to investigate fundamental reasons for such effects. The results are cognitive regulation ability, motivational regulation ability, behavioral regulation ability proved to have statistically significant effect on the attitude and related skills of information literacy. In-depth interview analysis yielded the following components: cooperative learning, experience in information environment, time pressure, exposure to information literacy education, motivation, relationship with school teachers, delayed gratification, and prior knowledge.

A study on library users' loyalty with users' satisfaction as a moderating variable: K university case (도서관 이용자 만족도를 매개변수로 하는 이용자 충성도에 관한 연구 : K대학 사례)

  • Universities are places where the knowledge and information of various areas is created and shared, and the libraries of the universities are main places for providing education services. In this study, we survey the students of K university on the satisfactions on offering contents, environment/facilities and library service, users' satisfaction, and users' loyalty. Structural equation models are used in order to verify whether the users' satisfactions on offering contents, environment/facilities and library service are both directly and indirectly effective on users' loyalty with users' satisfaction as a moderating variable. The results show that the satisfaction on offering contents is both directly and indirectly effective on the loyalty and that the satisfactions on environment/facilities and library service are not indirectly effective but directly effective on the loyalty.

  • The purpose of this study is to know the trends of research of reference service in Korea before 21th century from beginning. After analyzing of representative subject bibliographies , domestic research of this field can be devided into four chronical stages; the beginning stage in 1950’s, the changing stage in 1970’s, the developing stage in 1980’s and professional stage in 1990’s. And found out both domestic and internaional research seemed to have focused on the service theory, however there have been some differences in their lower subjects.

  • 본 논문에서는 사람들이 이용하고 있는 스마트폰에서 사용되는 대학홍보 응용프로그램을 개발하여, 기존에 개인 PC에 접속하여 얻을 수 있었던 정보를 휴대가 간편한 스마트폰을 통해 손쉽게 얻을 수 있도록 하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 스마트폰 응용프로그램을 이용하면 손쉬운 조작으로 교내정보 및 학과정보를 얻을 수 있고, 도서관에 있는 도서를 검색하고 도서관 열람실 현황 등을 알 수 있으며, 대학내 종합정보시스템 접속을 통해 학생들의 수강신청 및 학점관리 등을 할 수 있다. 또한 본 응용프로그램에서는 재학생 및 교직원들 간의 실시간 대화기능을 제공하여 동기, 선 후배, 교직원들 간에도 대화를 나눌 수 있도록 하여, 이용자 간의 정보교류 및 유대관계를 형성토록 함과 동시에 유비쿼터스 시대에 부합하는 교육환경에 한 발 더 다가 갈 수 있도록 하였다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제안하는 응용프로그램은 스마트폰을 휴대하고 있는 재학생 및 교직원의 편리한 정보접근은 물론, 신입생, 학부모, 그리고 해당 대학에 관심 갖는 모든 사람들에게 시간 및 공간의 제약 없이 대학 내에서 발생하는 모든 정보를 제공하기 위함이다.

An Experimental Study on Reading Effect of E-book (전자책의 독서효자에 관한 실험적 연구 - 종이책과의 비교를 통하여 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify reading effect of e-book versus printed book. For this purpose, 8 elementary school students participated in the reading project. The participants of this project read 'A'(printed book) and 'B'(e-book) literary works and were tested reading comprehension. According to conclusion of the study, there is no difference between printed book and e-book on reading effect. It is expected that this result can be used for e-library management and reading education.

A Study on the Trends of Developing Children' Suggested Reading Lists in Korea (국내 어린이 권장도서목록 개발 경향에 관한 연구)

  • Suggested reading lists in South Korea have been developing in various aspects thanks to the general understanding of importance of reading education and an increases in the number of school libraries and children libraries. A majority of previous researches consider the suggested reading lists as selection tools. However, this paper selects 17 well-known suggested reading lists and indicates their values as important information source. In this process, the research analyses the recent trends in the 17 suggested reading lists in 10 aspects: history, retrieval methods, developing institution, type of reading lists distribution methods, subject specification, participation of librarian, bibliographic information, subject classification and grouping target reader. From analysing these aspects, the paper suggests a need of unified information from authorized and children-information-related institutions.

An Object-Oriented Modeling of HyTime Documents (HyTime 문서의 객체지향 모델링)

  • Hypermedia documents include structural information for their documents There have been researches on storing and searching hypermedia documents using the structural information of the documents. For the purpose of presenting hypermedia documents, however, only a few models have been proposed. In this paper, we propose a new object-oriented model based on the structural information of HyTime documents for storing and also presenting efficiently the documents. For this modeling, we consider an application of HyTime, a system for a news-on-demand service that provides news customized by user requests. Our modeling can be applied to several Hypermedia application areas, like as customized web-based instructions and digital libraries as well as news-on-demand services.
