Examination of Allowable Displacement by Structural Analysis of IPM Bridge (토압분리형 교량의 구조해석을 통한 허용 변위량 검토)

  • Because the pile-bent of IPM Bridge is projected from the soil surface, excessive displacement of abutment can be induced. According to design guide of IPM Bridge, the shape of the bridges used in this study was applied to the maximum applicable 120.0m span, 30-degree for skew angle, and 10.0m for the protruded pile-bent height. The maximum displacement by the maximum span application condition of the IPM Bridge was calculated using this bridge model, and the safety of a horizontal displacement of the IPM Bridge was investigated based on the allowable displacement presented by Bozozuk. The maximum horizontal displacement of the IPM Bridge was calculated to be larger in the winter shrinkage condition than in the summer expansion condition, the horizontal displacements were more affected by the length of a bridge than by the skew angle. And the vertical displacement was not affected by the skew angle and length. As the span increases, the horizontal displacement increases significantly, the horizontal displacement at 120.0m span length was found to exceed the allowable displacement proposed by Bozozuk. However, the moment generated in the pile-bent did not exceed the plastic moment.

Development of Evaluation Method for Jointed Concrete Pavement with FWD and Finite Element Analysis (FWD와 유한요소해석을 이용한 줄눈콘크리트포장 평가법 개발)

  • The joints in the jointed concrete pavement provide a control against transverse or longitudinal cracking at slab, which may be caused by temperature or moisture variation during or after hydration. Without control of cracking, random cracks cause more serious distresses and result in structural or functional failure of pavement system. However, joints nay cause distresses due to its inherent weakness in structural integrity. Thus, the evaluation at joint is very important. and the joint-related distresses should be evaluated reasonably for economic rehabilitation. The purpose of this paper was to develop an evaluation system at joints of jointed concrete pavement using finite element analysis program, ILLI-SLAB, and nondestructive testing device. FWD. To develop an evaluation system for JCP, a sensitivity analysis was performed using ILLI-SLAB program with a selected variables which might affect fairly to on the performance of transverse joints. The most significant variables were selected from precise analysis. An evaluation charts were made for jointed concrete pavement by adopting the field FWD data. It was concluded that the variables which most significantly affect to pavement deflections are the modulus of subgrade reaction(K) and the modulus of dowel/concrete interaction(G), and limiting criteria on the performance of joints at JCP are 300pci. 500,000 lb/in. respectively. Using these variables and FWD test, a charts of load transfer ratio versus surface deflection at joints were made in order to evaluate the performance of JCP. Practically, Chungbu highway was evaluated by these evaluation charts and FWD field data for jointed concrete pavement. For Chungbu highway, only one joint showed smaller value than limiting criterion of the modulus of dowel/concrete interaction(G). The rest joints showed larger values than limiting criteria of the modulus of subgrade reaction(K) and the modulus of dowel/concrete interaction(G).

Realtime Visibility Measurement Using Moving Area Filter and Image Contrast (이동영역 필터와 영상대비를 이용한 실시간 시정측정)

  • Realtime visibility measurement using camera is a new method which can collect some realtime visibility data similar to those of the human eyes, and can replace the existing methods using the expensive optical equipment. There have been a few attempts to measure visibility by extracting depth and three-dimensional structure under bad weather conditions. However, if there are many movements of objects in the image, these approaches seem to be inappropriate. In addition, the realtime visibility measurement will require a relatively simple and fast processing. Typically the contrast degrades exponentially in the bad weather. Therefore, in this paper we propose an easy and quick method that extract contrast from images using a moving area filter and measure visibility by mathematically modelling of the relationship between image contrast and visibility. The moving area filter is used for removing the area of the sky and moving objects that affect visibility measurement on images. The method proposed here can make possible not only realtime visibility measurement from images taken by CCD cameras, but also steady visibility measurement by using the moving area filter in case of much traffic on the road.

  • The crossing construction under railroad have two methods which are cut and cover and trenchless method. First, cut and cover method is an extremely limited method concerning non-running time. Whereas, trenchless method is free from restriction such as train speed and running time, and has the strong points of safe and rapid construction. Front Jacking method, one of the trenchless methods, is frequently applied recently due to its stability during construction and vantage of assuring schedule reliability. The procedure is that after minimizing interlocking friction with structure and earth pressure due to jacking the small steel tube, pulling the precast box manufactured at the field in the ground using PC strand and hydraulic Jack. This method is able to be applied regardless of section size and length of box and condition of soil. And that is also pro-environmental. This paper presents the case of Daejeon E. W. perforate Road Project applied with the Front Jacking method.

A Study on the Behavior of Piled Abutment Subjected to Lateral Soil Movement of Soft Ground Improved by Deep Cement Mixing Method (DCM 공법으로 개량된 연약지반의 측방유동을 받는 교대 말뚝기초의 거동 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The construction on these flimsy ground, activation of unsymmetrical surcharges, can often cause of the embankment road lateral flow or the destruction of the activities. In this study, the stability of the abutment pile foundation installed on soft ground and its behavior has been evaluated. The behavior of the abutment pile foundation under lateral flow was studied by verifying the behavior and reinforcement effects of the abutment pile foundation of previous studies about horizontal loads acting on the pile due to the lateral flow of the ground by performing finite element analysis. As a result of the consolidation analyses, the undrained cohesion or the strength of the soft ground, was increased by about 1.1 to 1.8 times by the increase in the strength of the soft ground according to the degree of consolidation. It is deemed reasonable to use 3.8 cm of the allowable displacement both economically and constructively, but considering the importance of the structure and the uncertainty of the ground, measurement shall be carried out during construction and thorough safety management of the lateral flow should be done.

  • 본 연구는 급변하는 기후변화에 대응하기 위한 이동식 전처리 여과취수장치 및 이를 이용한 물 생산용 취수시스템에 관한 것으로 홍수시나 가뭄시 이물질과 부유물질의 제거를 통해 후속 여과 장치의 부하 경감과 여과 효율의 극대화를 꾀할 수 있고, 필요시 비상용수 및 생활용수로 신속히 활용할 수 있는 시설에 관한 것이다. 기존 이동식 물생산장치의 수처리 공정은 1NTU 내외의 깨끗한 물이 유입되지 않으면 여과기(RO SYSTEM) 막이 폐색되어 생산된 물의 수질이 일정치 않아 재난 시 활용하는데 어려움이 있었다. 반면에 본 연구의 물 생산용 취수시스템은 전처리 여과취수를 통해 이물질과 부유물질의 제거가 가능하여 후속 여과 장치의 부하 경감을 통해 유지관리비용 최소화와 여과 효율의 극대화를 꾀할 수 있고, 필요시 신속히 생활용수로 활용할 수 있으며, 다양한 급수원(하천, 저수지, 댐, 지하수 등)을 통한 수량 확보가 가능하고, 평상시 다용도(하천정화, 녹조제거, 도로 청소, 조경수 등)로 사용이 가능한 물생산시스템이다. 또한, 비상시 이동식 차량에 탑재하여 이동 및 운반이 가능할뿐만 아니라 저수지나 댐 또는 하천 등의 원수를 취수하여 이중 관 구조의 여과기를 통한 전처리로 지속적인 여과력을 발휘하여 이물질이나 부유물질을 신속히 제거하고, 역세척수 공급으로 여과재를 쉽게 역세척할 수 있어 여과 성능의 저하를 방지할 수 있다. 본 연구에서의 이동식 전처리 여과취수장치는 다양한 조건에서의 수치모의를 수행하여 평상시나 비상시 다용도의 필요수량을 확보할 수 있도록 장치의 최적화를 수행하였으며, 이를 통해 안정적인 수자원 확보와 활용이 가능하고, 국내 물 시장에서 물생산시스템의 다양성을 확보하여 국민경제에 기여할 수 있고, 향후 물 부족 국가의 ODA 사업에 진출하여 수출증대 효과를 얻을 수 있을 것이다.

Determination of Walking Direction for Guidance of the Blind (시각장애인 보행 안내를 위한 진행 방향 판단 기법)

  • Braille guide block of sidewalk is an essential facility for independent walking of the blind. The blind walks while checking the braile guide blocks with white cane and sense of sole. When they leave the braile area, they face difficulties until they find the braile guide blocks again. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that guides the walking of the blind by determining whether they follows the braille guide blocks safely. For this purpose, the slope of the braille block is selected as a feature and a 3-line detector is introduced. Also the slopes are stabilized using spatial filtering to deal with breaks or junctions of the braille block during the progress and temporal filtering to cope with ego-motion of the blind. Through simulations using a dataset obtained from the real sidewalks and indoors, it can be shown that the proposed algorithm can successfully estimate the walking direction and determine whether the blind is out of the braille guide block area.

Development of Simple Construction Method for Curbs and L-Type Gutter (경계석과 L형 측구의 간편 시공법 개발)

  • Curbs and L-type gutters installed at the edge of a road are very important structures to protect pedestrians from traffic accidents and to restraint slip of cars due to rain. However, existing construction method where great parts of the construction progress are done by human power has many problems in workability, quality and cost etc. In this paper, a new construction method for improvement in workability and quality for curbs and L-type gutters is developed. In order to investigate the structural safety and quality of curbs and gutters installed by the new method, tensile and lateral load tests are performed on curbs installed by existing and new methods and uniaxial compression tests are also performed on concrete samples of gutters constructed by existing and new methods. The test results show that the alignment of curbs and the strength of gutter concrete are very much improved by applying the new method. The tensile and lateral load capacities of the curbs installed by the new method are 10.7 and 2.5 times higher than those of curbs by existing method, respectively.

Information Fusion of Cameras and Laser Radars for Perception Systems of Autonomous Vehicles (영상 및 레이저레이더 정보융합을 통한 자율주행자동차의 주행환경인식 및 추적방법)

  • A autonomous vehicle requires improved and robust perception systems than conventional perception systems of intelligent vehicles. In particular, single sensor based perception systems have been widely studied by using cameras and laser radar sensors which are the most representative sensors for perception by providing object information such as distance information and object features. The distance information of the laser radar sensor is used for road environment perception of road structures, vehicles, and pedestrians. The image information of the camera is used for visual recognition such as lanes, crosswalks, and traffic signs. However, single sensor based perception systems suffer from false positives and true negatives which are caused by sensor limitations and road environments. Accordingly, information fusion systems are essentially required to ensure the robustness and stability of perception systems in harsh environments. This paper describes a perception system for autonomous vehicles, which performs information fusion to recognize road environments. Particularly, vision and laser radar sensors are fused together to detect lanes, crosswalks, and obstacles. The proposed perception system was validated on various roads and environmental conditions with an autonomous vehicle.

Development of High Performance Curing Agent and Effective Dispersion Method of Nanomaterials (고성능 피막양생제 개발 및 나노물질의 분산방안 평가)

  • Recently, issues related to the quality of concrete have continuously resulted in surface quality problems, such as the exfoliation of concrete surfaces due to the cost reduction of cement and poor quality fine aggregate, scaling of surfaces caused by laitance, and plastic shrinkage cracks. Prompted by social issues, the application of a photo catalyst to road structures is being attempted to solve the environmental problems caused by fine dust and automobile exhaust. In this study, chemical admixtures were developed to improve the surface quality of concrete and to apply and distribute titanium dioxide in nanoscale sizes to provide basic data for the development of a photocatalyst-curing agent. As a result of the experiment, silicon and silane were reviewed as a raw material as a curing agent to develop a high performance curing agent with better film performance than conventional curing agents because they could form a film quickly on a fresh concrete surface. The distributed stability of the ultrasonic disperser showed the best performance through an outdoor test for four weeks to review the dispersion measures for the application of nanomaterials.
