The Contribution of Maternal-Fetal Attachment: Taegyo, Maternal Fatigue and Social Support during Pregnancy (태아애착에의 영향요인: 임부의 피로, 사회적지지, 태교실천)

  • Purpose: Maternal-fetal attachment in a pregnant woman is important for her health and for her child's emotional stability. This study was done to identify the contribution of maternal fatigue, social support, and Taegyo to maternal-fetal attachment based on a survey of pregnant women. Methods: The study was a descriptive correlation study. Participants were 211 from two women's health clinic centers. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Mean scores for maternal-fetal attachment, Taegyo, maternal fatigue, and social support were 93.74 (range 25-125), 64.76 (17-85), 24.12 (10-40), and 54.43 (22-132), respectively. There were significant differences in maternal-fetal attachment according to parity, breast feeding experience, and putting prenatal education into practice. Multiple regression analysis showed that the key determinants of maternal-fetal attachment, were Taegyo (${\beta}$=.67), maternal fatigue (${\beta}$=.21), and social support (${\beta}$=.13), and these explained 55% of the total variance of attachment. Conclusion: The results suggest a need to encourage Taegyo in prenatal management program and provide methods for fatigue resolution and promotion of social support.

Relationship among Hardiness, Social Support and Burnout of Nurses Working in Emergency Department (응급실 간호사의 강인성, 사회적지지 및 소진간의 관계)

  • This study was to identify hardiness, social support, burnout which might influence burnout in emergency department nurses. Data were collected by self-reporting questionnaires from 115 nurses in 8 emergency department. Data analysis was done with SPSS/Win 21.0 program. Burnout showed significantly negative correlations with hardiness(r=-.390, p<.001), social support(r=-.400, p<.001) and hardiness showed significantly positive correlations with social support(r=.351, p<.001). As results, key factor was hardiness, social support, that continuing to work in emergency department, were significant predictors and accounted for 30.6%. Based on these results, burnout showed statistically significant differences depending on hardiness, social support and wanted department state. It is needed to develop a program in order to improve hardiness and social support of emergency department nurses.

Effect of Student Support on Burnout of High School Teachers (학생지지가 고등학교 교사의 소진에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to see if student support directly affects on the burnout of reduction of high school teachers. The subjects are high school teachers in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Busan. A total of 353 people were surveyed and the final 352 people were confirmed as analysis units, except for one untrustworthy response. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 16.0, and structural equation analysis was conducted to verify the effect of student support on the burnout of high school teachers. The study was conducted to a reconstruct survey with significant factor as an embodying the concept and measurement tools of student support. The main findings are as follows: First, student support has been shown to reduce emotional exhaustion, a sub-variant of burnout. Second, student support has been shown to reduce depersonalization. Third, student support has been shown to reduce a sense of personal achievement. This study is significant to demonstrate its effectiveness by using the student's support for social support teachers in order to reduce the burnout of high school teachers even there were no previous studies.

The adjustment stress and the effect of the social support on the adaptation of the North Korean defectors (탈북자의 적응스트레스와 사회적지지가 적응에 미치는 영향)

  • Due to the increasing concerns with the North Korean defectors, the researches have been increased.. However when compared with other areas, the researches about the North Korean defectors are rare. The sample size of this study is 171, which makes it possible to do statistical inferences. This study examines the adjustment stress and the effect of social support on the adaptation. As a demographic factors, gender, age and education are controlled. The context factors-the period of the stay in the third place, the period of residence and the existence of the education in Korea- are used as control variables. The research results show that the jobless is an important stressor. The structural social support affects the adjustment of stress as a whole and not individually. Among functional social support, the emotional social support is an important factor of adaptation, but the effect of structural social support is the opposite. Therefore, the adequacy of social support must be considered.

The Development of Healthy Aging Scale for Middle aged Women: Convergent Approach (중년여성의 성공적 노화 측정 도구 개발: 융복합적 접근)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an assessment scale for healthy aging of middle aged women. The data were collected from 385 middle aged women in two large cities in Korea. The development processes of the scale were followed: Development of preliminary items; Verification of content validity and reliability; Factor analysis and criterion validity of final items. Results: Factor analysis resulted in the creation of the final scale, which consisted of 38 items that were grouped into 9 factors: self achievement, physical change adaptation, psychological change adaptation, interpersonal relationships, menopausal symptom adaptation, economic stability, physical health, social support, social change adaptation. The explanatory variance was 64.03%. The reliability of the scale was Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.90$. Correlation of the scale with healthy aging and depression, established its construct and concurrent validity was r=-.69, p<.001. The scale was confirmed to have a relatively high validity and reliability. The findings of the study can be useful as a measurement to evaluate healthy aging of middle aged women. Future researches with the scale will be helpful for basic data for the program development to support healthy aging of middle aged women.

Depression and Social Support among Adults in Jeju Province, South Korea (제주지역 성인의 사회적 지지와 우울)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to compare depression and social support according to general characteristics and to investigate the influence of social support on depression. Methods: This study analyzed raw data from a project funded by Jeju Province. Data were collected through home visit interview with 750 households selected by using a randomized cluster sampling method. CES-D was used to measure depression, and the Medical Outcomes Study Social Support Survey was used to measure social support. The data of 1,155 subjects were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and regression. Results: The mean was 11.35 for depression and 75.53 for social support. Women showed a higher depression score and a lower social support score than men did. Older people; the divorced or the bereaved; and those in groups comprising people with lower education, lower social class, poor health, or high stress presented higher depression and lower social support. The result of stepwise regression showed that social support was one of the predictive variables of depression, and 22% of variance was explained by social support in this study. Conclusions: Social support was a powerful predictive variable of depression, and it was suggested that to prevent and manage depression, strategies that enhance social support should be developed and evaluated.

The Influence of Educare Teachers' Self-encouragement and Social Support on Psychological Burnout (보육교사의 자기격려와 사회적 지지가 심리적 소진에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to verify the influence of educare teachers' self-encouragement and social support on their psychological burnout. Methods: This study was 329 educare teachers working in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The questionnaire for this study (self-encouragement scales, social support scales, and psychological burnout scales) was conducted and t-test, F-test, Turkey post test, Pearson Correlation analysis, simple regression analysis and multiple regression analysis was conducted by using the SPSS windows 18.0 program. Research results of analysis were as follows. Results: First, the difference of self-encouragement of educare teachers was remarkable according to age group and that of social support noticeable according to age group and career while that of psychological burnout was noticeable according to age group and marital status. Second, educare teachers' self-encouragement and social support has negative correlation with their psychological burnout. Third, educare teachers' self-encouragement and social support affect their psychological burnout in negative manner. In particular, self-encouragement functions, more than social support, as a main factor in reducing psychological burnout. Conclusion/Implications: These results can be utilized as basic data for developing education and counselling programs designed to provide emotional stability for educare teachers and help them give more positive child-care service.

Relationship Study of Social Support of University with Occupational Values, Career Decision Standards, and Quality of Life of College Students Intended for Design Students (대학에서의 사회적 지지와 직업 가치관, 진로 결정수준, 삶의 질 간의 영향 관계 연구: 디자인 분야 전공 대학생을 중심으로)

  • This research was conducted to investigate the structural relationship social support of college students has with their occupational values, career decision, and quality of life. Subjects of study were art and design college students in Seoul. Social support, occupational values, career decision, and quality of life were measured as criteria. SPSS and AMOS were used to test structural model and the relationship among variables. Results of this study are as follows. First, effects of social support on internal and external occupational values were studied. Second, effects of social support on quality of life-satisfaction and happiness-were studied. Third, effects of occupational values on career decision standards were studied. External occupational values had a statistically significant correlation with career decision, while internal occupational values were found to have no statistically significant effect on career decision. Based on the results, it can be inferred that colleges which need to support the careers and employment of students must support students with informational and instrumental support. Design students must be provided with proper career coaching and environment improvement, as well as development of programs suitable for various talents and aptitudes, so that they can shape appropriate occupational values.

  • The purposes of this study were to examine the relationship between participation in sport for all, social support among the aged. To attain the goal of the study described above paragraphs, the older person resided in Seoul and Gyonggi, 2006 year were set as a collected group. Then, using the cluster random sampling method, finally drew out and analyzed 245 people in total. The result of reliability check up was here below; over Chronbach's ${\alpha}=.775$. To analyze materials, factor analysis, ANCOVA, multiple regression analysis were used as statistic analysis techniques. The conclusion based on above study method and the result of material analysis are below. Based upon the result of the study, the conclusions are the followings; First, participation experience of sport for all don't influence on the social support. Second, participation degree of sport for all influence on the social support.

The Convergent effect of Ego-resilience, Nursing professionalism, and Social support on Department satisfaction in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자아탄력성, 간호전문직관, 사회적 지지가 학과만족에 미치는 융복합적 영향)

  • The study were to identify the effect of ego-resilience, nursing professionalism, social support on department satisfaction in nursing students. Data were collected from April to May 2017 from 272 nursing students. The study tools were ego-resilience, nursing professionalism, social support, department satisfaction. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, multiple linear regression using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. The result showed that the difference in department satisfaction relating to general characteristics were significant for reason for choosing a department, student activity, academic record. The correlation among ego-resilience, nursing professionalism, social support, department satisfaction were significant, and the significant factors influencing department satisfaction in nursing students were social support, nursing professionalism, ego-resilience. It is necessary to find ways to improve the department satisfaction through the activities that can enhance the social support, nursing professionalism, and ego-resilience of nursing students. This will help them adjust to college life.
