  • The study aims to find a way to guarantee high school students choose science subjects by exploring its necessity as a prerequisite for admission to university science and engineering major courses. For this purpose, a survey was administered to 516 science & engineering college students to investigate their cognition and completion of the prerequisite science subjects related to their major, department adjustment, and influence on their major of study. Among nine major clusters, Physics was identified as a science domain with a high relevance to majors in five major clusters, and Chemistry in three. The students who completed both science I and II subjects related to their majors responded most positively to the usefulness of prerequisite subjects to their studies. Suggestions include conditions for the opening of science II subjects, strengthening the connection between science subjects and IT, promotion of linkage between the prerequisite subject and major studies to assert students' choice of science subjects in high school.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the major selection motivation, academic stress, self-efficacy and college life adjustment and identify influencing factors of college life adjustment in the crisis situation of COVID-19. 243 nursing students were selected from 2 regions through convenience sampling. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS for Windows Ver. 22.0. The higher the major selection motivation and self-efficacy, the higher the college life adjustment. The lower the academic stress, the higher the college life adjustment. The factors influencing college life adjustment were self-efficacy, major selection motivation, monthly allowance, and the explanatory power of these variables for college life adjustment was 65.6%. Therefore, in order to improve the nursing students' college life adjustment, it is necessary to develop and apply college life adjustment program to increase self-efficacy.

  • In this study, interview scripts written in the dropout application was analyzed using BERTopic,, and parental influence, academic adaptation, university dissatisfaction was derived as major topics. An empirical study was conducted through a survey of 199 current students with researchmodel composed of those factors affecting dropout intention. The result shows that parental influence had a negative effect on academic adaptation and university satisfaction. Academic adaptation and university satisfaction had a negative effect on the dropout intention. parental influence did not directly affect the dropout intention, but had an indirect positive effect through academic adaptation and university/major satisfaction. The result shows that university satisfaction and academic adaptation is important factor to lower the dropout intention of students who chose current university by parental influence.

For data analysis, SPSS 21.0 for Windows was used. As a result, there were correlations among the variables, the adaption of University life of university students was affected by the personal motivation, social motivation for the selection of major with the largest effect being class satisfaction. The explanatory power was 38%. In conclusion, it is important to develop teaching and learning programs and counselling students considering class satisfaction for improving the adaption to university life.

  • The purpose of this study conducted to conduct a survey to understand the effect of security major college students' major selection motives on major satisfaction and career decisions. The questionnaire was written as "First, motivation for choice, second, major satisfaction, third, career decision". In this study, Chronbach's Alpha coefficient was calculated to analyze the reliability and importance of variables and to identify exploratory factors. And the Berimax method was performed. Both the AVE and CR values of the measured items were calculated to be above the reference value of 0.7, and thus, the convergent validity of each item was investigated as favorable. In the hypothesis test results, the standardization coefficient of 'selection motive ⇨ major satisfaction' was 0.653 and 'major satisfaction ⇨ career decision' was 0.403, so both research hypotheses were adopted. However, 'selection motive ⇨ career decision' was rejected with 0.392. In the future, universities and related professors seem to need more efforts to simultaneously increase the selection motive and major satisfaction in order to improve the career decisions of college security students.

  • This study analyzed the effect of career preparation behavior of female college graduates on their job satisfaction. The results of this study are as follows: First, the relationship between job satisfaction and career preparation behavior and a regression analysis of job satisfaction were all examined. This study used the original data from the Korea Employment Information Service for '2012 College Graduates' Occupation Route Survey'. The subjects of this study were 1,569 women in the science and engineering fields (649 engineering graduates, and 920 science graduates). The data was analyzed by frequency analysis, independent sample t tests, correlation analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS WIN 19.0. As a result, women with 4 years of college have higher job stability and job satisfaction than college students, but the reasons for major selection, university type, college location, and department. The results of this study are as follows. First, the effect of the variables on career satisfaction and job satisfaction was not statistically significant. This suggests that the type of college does not have a significant effect on job satisfaction if the university systematically prepares people for a career and the university suits a person's aptitude.

  • This study investigated the effects of major selection motives and occupational values on employment preparation behavior among paramedic students. The study also assessed the role of mentoring in enhancing preparation for employment. During the period of five days, from December 2 to 6, 2019, 300 students randomly selected by the researcher, were provided with a self-administered questionnaire, after taking written consent from them. The responses of 286 respondents were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 12.0 program. Fourteen responses were not included in the analysis due to lack of credible answers. The analysis revealed that personal motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic work values had a positive effect on employment preparation behavior and mentoring had a moderating effect. Therefore, continuous individual and group counseling is required to improve employment preparation behavior and special lectures and mock interviews in a mentoring program based on major selection motivations and occupational values are necessary.
