  • This study examined the relationship of self-directed learning ability, teaching presence, learning flow and academic achievement of nursing students in non-face-to-face class. Data were collected through self reported structured questionnaire in 146 nursing students from June 19 to 20, 2021. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 23.0. As a result this study, academic achievement was positively correlated with self-directed learning ability, teaching presence and learning flow. As result regression analysis, learning flow, self-directed learning ability and teaching presence explained 67% of the academic achievement in nursing students. Therefore, based on this study it will be more effective to improve academic achievement of instructional design and customized instructional methods that can improve self-directed learning ability, teaching reality and learning commitment are applied together in non-face-to-face classes.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the latent classes depending on trajectories of intrinsic and extrinsic work values amongst college students and to test the effects of gender, socioeconomic status, academic achievement and career maturity on determining the latent classes. The results indicated that intrinsic and extrinsic work values, respectively, have two types of latent classes. The latent classes were defined as a increasing group(29.4%) and a slight decreasing group(70.8%) in intrinsic work values, a slight decreasing group(18.1%) and a increasing group(81.9%) in extrinsic work values. It was also found that the higher academic achievement levels were more likely to belong to the increasing group in intrinsic work values, male college students were more likely to belong to the increasing group in extrinsic work values, and the higher socioeconomic status were more likely to belong to the increasing group in extrinsic work values. The findings of this study can enrich future research into career counseling and education of college students and provide basic data for the strategies and intervention of career counseling. Both the implications and limitations of this study were also discussed, along with suggestions for future research.

  • This study was conducted to explore self-directed learning, learning flow, academic self-efficacy and academic achievement on nursing students and to investigate the major factors that influence academic achievement. Data were collected from October 15 to 19, 2021, data were analyzed utilizing the SPSS WIN 21.0 program. Participants in this study were 145 students of the college in J city. As a result of the study, self-directed learning was 3.67±0.65 points out of 5, learning flow was 3.35±0.76 points out of 5, academic self-efficacy was 3.43±0.94 points out of 5, and academic achievement was 3.85±1.13 points out of 5. The relationships between self-directed learning, learning flow, academic self-efficacy and academic achievement showed significant positive correlations. As a result of multiple regression analysis, factors influencing the academic achievements of nursing students were found to be learning flow and academic self-efficacy. Therefore, in order to increase academic achievement in nursing college students, it is necessary to develop educational programs to increase the academic self-efficacy, and to continuously check the effect.

  • The purpose of this research is to examine the factors correlated with adjustment to collage life of students such as their academic achievement and college life satisfaction. This research focuses on the relationship between values and college life satisfaction based on perspectives that individual values have close affinity with life satisfaction. For analyses, we used 5-years of information of college admission and GPAs of all students, and survey data of 671 students of C university. The results are as follows; 1) academic achievement is the highest among those with comprehensive school report admission-within the enrollment quota, 2) college life satisfaction is pertaining to specific values such as belief in justice, cooperation, and trust, 3) college life satisfaction is related with the satisfaction of overall educational environment. The results emphasize the importance of education of public values to enhance adjustment to college life of students.

  • This study aims to examine English learning beliefs of Korean college students enrolled in e-learning courses and to investigate the relationship between their beliefs and L2 achievement. Horwitz's Beliefs about Language Learning Inventory was used to elicit students' beliefs about English learning and their grades in a final exam were employed for the English achievement measure. The data from one hundred sixteen respondents were analyzed through a factor analysis and the analysis revealed 5 factors: Motivation, learning strategies, English aptitude, foreign language aptitude, and communication strategies. The results showed that the most of the e-learning students had a high level of motivation and expectation in learning English but they believed that they had a low language aptitude. Statistically significant correlation was found between students' beliefs in motivation and their L2 attainment.

  • In 2020, due to COVID-19, all universities in Korea were conducting non-face-to-face classes. The purpose of this study is to study what factors affect academic achievement under such non-face-to-face instruction, especially for engineering students where practical training is important. Validity of the statistical hypothesis defined in this study by applying a structural equation model using questionnaires about academic achievement for engineering students at University D for this study. In addition, I would like to suggest what factors should be considered in non-face-to-face classes, especially in engineering colleges. As a result of the study, it was found that students' Q&A, feedback and e-learning system had a direct influence on academic achievement. In addition, it was confirmed that they had an indirect influence on academic achievement through the parameters of theory class and practical class.

  • Log data accumulated in the Learning Management System (LMS) provide high-quality information for the learning process of students. Until now, various studies have been conducted to predict students' academic achievement using LMS log data. However, previous studies were based on relatively small sample sizes of students and courses, limiting the possibility of generalization. This study developed and validated a deep neural network model for the early prediction of academic achievement of college students using massive LMS log data. To this end, we used 78,466,385 cases of LMS log data and 165,846 cases of grade data. The proposed model predicted the excellent-grade students with a high level of accuracy from the beginning of the semester. Meanwhile, the prediction accuracy for the moderate and underachieving groups was relatively low, but the accuracy improved as the time points of the prediction were delayed. This study is meaningful in that we developed an early prediction model based on a deep neural network with sufficient accuracy for practical utilization by only using LMS log data.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the level of learning flow, learning satisfaction, academic self-efficacy, academic achievement, and academic stress of nursing students who experienced non-face-to-face online lectures, and to investigate the correlation between variables and the factors affecting academic stress. The data of this study was collected from 143 students at a nursing college in Seoul, through a Google online questionnaire from September 1, 2023 to September 25, 2023, and descriptive statistics, Student's t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson's Correlation, and linear multiple regression were conducted using SPSS Statistics 25.0. Following an analysis of the difference according to general characteristics, academic stress showed significant difference according to Motivation for applying to department(F=4.465, p=.005) and Major satisfaction(F=36.499, p=.000) of the subjects. The result of analyzing the correlation academic stress was negatively correlated with learning flow (r=-.464, p<.010), academic self-efficacy (r=-.522, p<.010), and academic achievement (r=-.379, p<.010), but learning satisfaction was not correlated with academic stress. Variables affecting academic stress were major satisfaction (𝛽=.367, p<.01), learning flow (𝛽=-.186, p<.05), and academic self-efficacy (𝛽=-.241, p<.05), and the explanatory power for academic stress was 40%. The results of this study can be used as basic data for intervention programs for relieving academic stress of nursing students.
