The purpose of this study is to investigate the current status of services and programs of bookmobiles in Korea. To do this, a questionnaire containing 22 questions on basic information, scheduling and stops of bookmobiles, services and programs of bookmobiles, promotions and needs assessment and improvement requirements was developed on the basis of 7 foreign standards and guidelines related to bookmobile services. 74 questionnaires from bookmobiles belonging to public libraries and Saemaul bookmobiles were analysed. As a result, many parts of the results including operation days per week, stops per day, operation hours per stop, visiting cycle, circulation per day, circulation period and circulation volume and promotion conformed to foreign standards and guidelines but the others did not conformed to them. Also, there were more group differences in services and programs between bookmobiles belonging to public libraries and Saemaul bookmobiles than between bookmobiles in metropolitan cities and provinces in Korea.

This study was to suggest the problems and the improvement plan of Digital Library System (DLS) which has solved the library management and has supported the data building for resource sharing in school libraries since 2001. The 9 DLS committees were interviewed about the current situation of DLS use and the problems of DLS system in the 6 areas of acquisition, cataloging, circulation and discharge, inventory, library statistics, and searching interface as the research methods. Based on the interviews, the improvement plans were suggested as followed. In acquisition, it was to need the acquisition system development and online purchase for users. In cataloging, the improvement of data quality management, and indexes and vocabularies control for upgrade of searching function were needed. The advanced circulation speed in circulation, the restoration of discarded data in inventory and the exact statistic data in library statistics were need to improve the DLS. This study would contribute to the betterment of DLS and increase the use of DLS.

Children's literature has a significant impact on children's intelligence and emotional development. The interest in children's literature is increasingly growing with the expectation of the award winning books and the educational values of children's books. Although the interest has brought about a quantitative increase in the domestic children's books, it has difficulty selecting high-quality children's books among various books. In such an environment, the Children's Literature Award will provide an authoritative source of choice, which will help guide the selection of quality books to those who want to read children's books. In addition to this trend, the library should check the status of winning works and incorporate them into new collection development policies. The purpose of this study is to present the direction of the library book development policy of the public library. For this purpose, 10 public libraries in Seoul, Korea were selected and analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively through the collection status of the children's literature winning books, loan status, turnover, Bonn's use Factor, and Trueswell's 80/20 rule. Based on the results of this analysis, we would like to suggest some issues to be reflected in library development policy of the future.

This study examines the actual conditions and present state of using large print books as a part of the senior services in the japanese public library as the super-aged society. The examination shows that nearly 80% of the public libraries in Yamagata Prefecture has large print books however there are few specialized services and book-lending rate is also low. This study also shows that there is no announcement about using large print books in the public libraries. Therefore, this study will present the redevelopment plan of the reading environment about large print books for the senior.

The study aims to develop a mobile library model for universities that can be adapted to offer suitable library information and services to smart phone users. To do this, we conducted a case study using four foreign and domestic mobile libraries as well as a user study with 212 participants and questionnaires. In addition, we also administered a survey with 160 librarians. Based on the results of case and user/librarian studies, we proposed a mobile library model in which an access and navigation methods are described and nine key information and services including catalog search, code reader and SNS services are proposed.

This study analyzed bibliographic attributes related to the selection and use of reading materials based on data on books borrowed or purchased together in order to understand the properties of reading materials that have complex user needs from various perspectives. As a result of creating co-occurrence matrices of bibliographic attribute terms by dividing them into 26 sub-attribute units related to KDC main class, target reader, and user age, and performing network analyses, the details and prominent mediating role of bibliographic attributes of reading materials were identified. The results of this study will be helpful in designing facets of reading information systems, including library OPAC, in the future.

This research is based on open data from the National Library Statistics System and Seoul Survey 2020 from Seoul to analyze the Seoul citizens' usage of public libraries. For such purposes, this research compared and diagnosed the condition of public libraries services at 25 districts of Seoul, focusing on objective indicators of library management and general usage records to understand the correlations between the two. Objective indicators such as budgets, human labor, the number of books, and total ground area were compared with usage records of different classes of Seoul citizens, organized by the citizens' place of living, educational background, and monthly household income. As a result of the research, the correlation between the objective indicators and public usage records of different classes was confirmed. Seoul citizens' usage of public libraries and reading tendency were identified. In addition to, a balanced development of the public libraries in Seoul was proposed to overcome regional disparities and leveling the service level by investigating usage behavior and reading tendency of the public libraries in Seoul.

It is required to enhance the value of ISBN as a tool for book search, identification, browsing, and improve the accessability and search capability of library OPAC. Bookmarklet is a small size javascript which can be saved as URL in a web browser bookmark or web page hyperlink. Open source bookmarklet can extract ISBN from web pages and search a book from library OPAC using the ISBN, so it is recognized as a simple but powerful search tool. In foreign countries, commercial library system vendors, libraries, OCLC, etc. are providing bookmarklets which allow a user to search for library holdings and loan information in a real time while he/she is travelling in an online bookshop web page. Therefore, this paper compared and analyzed international bookmarklets application examples and proposed LibraryLookup service in which library OPAC and online bookshop can make use of the bookmarklets.

Currently, most academic libraries provide OPAC 2.0 service which applies Web 2.0 based-internet search engine to OPAC. The new service is for the users' convenience and so the considerations for the users' opinions are of great importance for each of services. The objectives of the study were to investigate perceptions of the students as the main user for academic library on the importance for the main services of OPAC 2.0 and analyzed information sources and the reasons for book search by the virtue of this service. The study showed that there were the users' high expectations on accuracy and satisfaction for OPAC 2.0, and the main searching information source was the OPAC of the universities to which the users belong due to familiar screen as well as convenient reading and book loan through it. The OPAC 2.0 service needs to be improved with the consideration of the users' opinions.

This study noted the recent impact of Coronavirus Disease-19 (Corona 19) on the environment surrounding the library, and investigated the libraries' response activities. In addition, related issues on news media and social media were detected based on text mining techniques to engage environmental changes surrounding the library. Key issues were derived from 1,852 news reports on the library related to the Corona 19 situation and 227,983 tweets related to the library during the Corona 19 epidemic. Through this, implications were derived: prolonged 'Untact' situations, increased e-book lending, improved expectations for online services and librarians, and re-conceptualized library space. In addition, the direction of future services was discussed by selecting representative examples of library services provided in the non-face-to-face (untact) situation and dividing them into books, services, and spaces.
