Evaluation of the Effect of Urban-agriculture on Urban Heat Island Mitigation (도시농업의 도시열섬현상 저감효과에 대한 계량화 평가연구)

  • Vegetation can make not only to lower the urban ambient air temperature (UAAT) by crop evapotranspiration (ET) and increasing solar radiation albedo, but also to reduce the urban air pollution by $CO_2$ uptake and $O_2$ emission in addition to the reducing ozone concentrations by aid of lower the UAAT. To evaluate the effect of vegetation on urban heat island mitigation (UHIM), the climate change of 6 cities during 30 years are analysed, and the amount of ET, $CO_2$ uptake, $O_2$ emission and ozone concentrations are estimated in Korea. The most hot season is the last part of July and the first part of August, and the highest average UAAT of a period of ten days was $35.03^{\circ}C$ during 30 years (1979 - 2008). The mean values of maximum ET of rice and soybean in urban area during urban heat island phenomena were 6.86 and $6.00mm\;day^{-1}$, respectively. The effect of rice and soybean cultivation on lowering the UAAT was assessed to be 10.5 and $3.0^{\circ}C$ in Suwon, respectively, whereas the differences between the UAAT and canopy temperature at urban paddy and upland in Ansung were 2.6 and $2.2^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, the urban-garden in Suwon city had resulted in lowering the UAAT and the surface temperature of buildings to 2.0 and $14.5^{\circ}C$, respectively. Furthermore, the amounts of $CO_2$ uptake by rice and soybean were estimated to be 20.27 and $15.54kg\;CO_2\;10a^{-1}day^{-1}$, respectively. The amounts of $O_2$ emission by rice and soybean were also assessed to be 14.74 and $11.30kg\;O_2\;10a^{-1}day^{-1}$, respectively. As other cleaning effect of air pollution, the ozone concentrations could be also estimated to reduce 21.0, 8.8, and 4.0 ppb through rice-, soybean cultivation, and urban gardening during most highest temperature period in summer, respectively.

  • This paper describes scheduling algorithms of the UNIX operating system and shows an analytical approach to approximate the average conditional response time for a process in the UNIX operating system. The average conditional response time is the average time between the submittal of a process requiring a certain amount of the CPU time and the completion of the process. The process scheduling algorithms in thr UNIX system are based on the priority service disciplines. That is, the behavior of a process is governed by the UNIX process schuduling algorithms that (ⅰ) the time-shared computer usage is obtained by allotting each request a quantum until it completes its required CPU time, (ⅱ) the nonpreemptive switching in system mode and the preemptive switching in user mode are applied to determine the quantum, (ⅲ) the first-come-first-serve discipline is applied within the same priority level, and (ⅳ) after completing an allotted quantum the process is placed at the end of either the runnable queue corresponding to its priority or the disk queue where it sleeps. These process scheduling algorithms create the round-robin effect in user mode. Using the round-robin effect and the preemptive switching, we approximate a process delay in user mode. Using the nonpreemptive switching, we approximate a process delay in system mode. We also consider a process delay due to the disk input and output operations. The average conditional response time is then obtained by approximating the total process delay. The results show an excellent response time for the processes requiring system time at the expense of the processes requiring user time.

DC Electric Field Characteristics considering Thermal Effect for HVDC Slip-on Type Outdoor Termination (HVDC 슬립 온형 기중 종단접속함에 대한 열 영향 반영 DC 전계 특성 평가)

  • A outdoor termination installed at the outdoor substation is required to connect undergroud cables and overhead transmission lines. The joint box for AC transmission system is already developed and widely used to interconnect overhead and undergroud systems. But the development of the joint box for DC transmission system was only introduced from China and Japan, but theire developemnt staus and core technologies were not fully reported. In order to implement HVDC systems connecting ovehead transmission lines and undergroud cables, a outdoor termination should be developed, but the detailed specifications and information of this device were not reported. It is estimated that the development of the joint box for DC environment has some technical obstacles including insulating materials, electric field mitigation, thermal temperature rise, and space charge accumuations. Among this, the most important one is the DC elctrical insualtion design. Therefore, in order to investigate the DC elctrical insualton design of outdoor termination, the design of AC slip-on type outdoor termination is reffered, and DC electric field analysis performed to verify the possiblity of application of AC joint box into DC joint box. Especially for DC electric field analysis, temperature rise of insualting materials of a joint box was considered, because the conductivity of materials could be changed due to temperature rise. Furthermore, DC electric field analysis considering transinet state, and polarity reversal state were also investigated to verify which state is the most severe condition for the DC joint box. From the simualtion resulsts, it was shown that the value and the position of maximum electric field was obtained comparing AC state, DC state without temperaure rise, and DC state with temperaure rise. And it was confimred that severe DC electric field was observed considing temperaure rise. Finally, in order to reduce DC eletric field intensifation, different configuration of the joint box was applied and it was not possible to obtain satisfactory results. It means that the slight change of configuration of AC joint box was not the suitable soluton for DC joint box. It is essential to establish novel DC insulaton design skills and method for DC joint box to commercialze this product in the near future.

  • The high efficiency power management IC(PMIC) with DTMOS(Dynamic Threshold voltage MOSFET) switching device is proposed in this paper. PMIC is controlled with PWM control method in order to have high power efficiency at high current level. DTMOS with low on-resistance is designed to decrease conduction loss. The control parts in Buck converter, that is, PWM control circuits consist of a saw-tooth generator, a band-gap reference circuit, an error amplifier and a comparator circuit as a block. The Saw-tooth generator is made to have 1.2 MHz oscillation frequency and full range of output swing from ground to supply voltage(VDD:3.3V). The comparator is designed with two stage OP amplifier. And the error amplifier has 70dB DC gain and $64^{\circ}$ phase margin. DC-DC converter, based on Voltage-mode PWM control circuits and low on-resistance switching device, achieved the high efficiency near 95% at 100mA output current. And DC-DC converter is designed with LDO in stand-by mode which fewer than 1mA for high efficiency.

  • This thesis is about the reduction of the power consumption in GPS embedded terminals with periodic position fix to improve the time delay of position determination. In order to improve time delay of position determination during the wireless terminal is powered on, it needs to be set such that it can be periodically recalibrated by the GPS and those recalibrated values need to be saved in the terminal's memory so that it can reduce the time delay from the request of location. By using the trace of the information that's been saved in the terminal's memory, it can be set so that it'll be easier to determine whether the wireless terminal has gone into buildings and have the capability of checking if it has gone into a specific building. Likewise, while the terminal is turned on, in order calibrate the location, it needs to continuously work the GPS engine which leads to a rapid decrease in terminal's idle time. This thesis proposes some solutions regarding these issues - reducing 20 ~ 30% of the battery consumption for GPS visible situation that can occur when the wireless terminal periodically calibrates its location to determine the in-building status, and extending the idle time of the terminal by flexibly using the suggested GPS calibration time method according to wireless terminal's mobility.

  • In this paper, we carried out the basic design of 36 MTD natural gas BOG re-liquefaction system to recover the generated natural gas during performance test of LNG pump and natural gas compressor. The re-liquefaction process of natural gas is designed to have 1500 kg/h of liquefaction rate with reverse Brayton refrigeration cycle. With the designed process, the variation of liquefaction rate is calculated for various inlet conditions of feed gas. From results, the liquefaction rate is more sensitive for inlet temperature than gas composition. The specifications of equipments such as gas blower, natural gas compressor, cryogenic heat exchanger and nitrogen compander are determined on the basis of the designed process. The requirement of power consumption and cooling water are also determined through the basic design.

  • 과학위성 1호에는 위성의 임무를 수행하기 위하여 광학계, 구조부, 및 전자부 등 여러가지 부품들이 실장되는데, 그 중 전자부의 가장 중요한 부품 중의 하나인 인쇄회로기판(Printed Circuit Board, PCB)의 우주환경에서의 특성 대해서 논의하고자 한다. Solder Resistor(Solder Mask)의 화학성분이 위성체가 작동하는 우주환경에서 위성체 임무수행 시 발생할 수 있는 out-gassing으로 인해 위성체가 본연의 임무 실패라는 결과를 초래할 수 있다 NASA 및 ESA의 Out-gassing에 관한 규정과 TRW에 의한 KOMSAT에 사용된 재료의 진공상태의 Outgassing에 관한 내용에 의하면, 재료의 진공상태와 Out-gassing은 America Society for Testing and Materials에서 제시한 ASTM E959 기준에 따라 제작된다. 일반적으로 우주 환경에서 광학계나 전자부의 원활한 동작을 위해서는 인쇄 회로 기판의 총 질량손실(Total Mass Loss, TML)은 1.00%을 넘지 말아야 하며, 휘발성 응축 질량 (Collected Volatile Condensable Mass, CVCM)은 0.1% 미만이어야 한다. Total Mass Loss(TML) 방법은 대기중에서 측정한 질량과 진공 조건에서 변화되는 질량을 측정함으로써 진공조건에서의 탈기체 특성을 측정하는 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 Solder Resistor(Solder Mask)의 탈기체 측정을 위한 진공챔버의 측정방법 및 진공 형성 과정을 기술하고 실제 과학위성1호에 장착될 시료를 예로 들어 인쇄회로기판에 입힌 Solder Resistor(Solder Mask)가 우주환경인 진공상태에서 위성체 부품의 작동 시 발생할 수 있는 탈기체되는 정도를 질량의 변화분으로 측정하여 위성체가 우주 환경에서 본연의 임무를 안전하게 수행할 있는지를 검증하였다.부분이다.다.향을 해석하고 시뮬레이션 하였다.Device Controller)는 ECU로부터 명령어를 받아서 arm 및 safe 상태에 대한 텔리 메트리 데이터를 제공한다 그리고, SAR(Solar Array Regulator)는 ECU로부터 Bypass Relay 및 ARM Relay에 관한 명령어를 받아 수행되며 그에 따른 텔리 메트리 데이터를 제공한다. 마지막으로 EPS 소프트웨어를 검증하는 EPS Software Verification을 수행하였다 전력계 소프트웨어의 설계의 검증 부분은 현재 설계 제작된 전력계 .소프트웨어의 동작 특성 이 위성 의 전체 운용개념과 연계하여 전력계 소프트웨어가 전력계 및 위성체의 요구조건을 만족시키는지를 확인하는데 있다. 전력계 운용 소프트웨어는 배터리의 충ㆍ방전을 효율적으로 관리해 3년의 임무 기간동안 위성체에 전력을 공급할 수 있도록 설계되어 있다this hot-core has a mass of 10sR1 which i:s about an order of magnitude larger those obtained by previous studies.previous studies.업순서들의 상관관계를 고려하여 보다 개선된 해를 구하기 위한 연구가 요구된다. 또한, 준비작업비용을 발생시키는 작업장의 작업순서결정에 대해서도 연구를 행하여, 보완작업비용과 준비비용을 고려한 GMMAL 작업순서문제를 해결하기 위한 연구가 수행되어야 할 것이다.로 이루어 져야 할 것이다.태를 보다 효율적으로 증진시킬 수 있는 대안이 마련되어져야 한다고 사료된다.$\ulcorner$순응$\lrcorner$의 범위를 벗어나지 않는다. 그렇기 때문에도 $\ulcorner$순응$\lrcorner$$\ulcorner$표현$\lrcorner$의 성격과 형태를 외형상으로

  • A bicycle is different from vehicles in the structure that a rider is fully exposed to the surrounding environment. Therefore, it needs to make use of prior information about local weather, air quality, trail road condition. Moreover, since it depends on human power for moving, it should acquire route property such as hill slope, winding, and road surface to improve its efficiency in everyday use. Recent mobile applications which are to be used during bicycle riding let us aware of the necessity of development of intelligent bicycles. This study aims to develop a riding state (up-hill, down-hill, accelerating, braking) recognition algorithm using a low-power wrist watch type embedded system which has 3-axis accelerometer and wireless communication capability. The developed algorithm was applied to 19 experimental riding data and showed more than 95% of correct recognition over 83.3% of the total dataset. The altitude and temperature sensor also in the embedded system mounted on the bicycle is being used to improve the accuracy of the algorithm. The developed riding state recognition algorithm is expected to be a platform technology for intelligent bicycle interface system.

  • Weapon systems have been developed with high technology electronic equipment due to technology growth. In addition, the capital, operational and maintenance costs of weapon systems have all increased. However, cost of operation and maintenance for weapon systems has been decreased relatively compared to the increased capital cost of weapon systems. Therefore, the defense industry needs to research the life cycle cost of weapon systems that have high operational and maintenance costs. This paper focuses on maintenance equipment for the operation and maintenance of weapon systems. Recently, it seems that the weapon systems that have periodic calibration with maintenance equipment are valid. The equipment requires periodic calibration by the manufacturer to check its own validation. Basically, customers demand high reliability devices from foreign companies that have qualified in the global market. Therefore, the tools need to be calibrated overseas. In other words, weapon systems are not available when the equipment has to be calibrated overseas because the systems require validation with valid maintenance equipment. A purpose of this paper is to compare the loss costs that arise from the calibration of the equipment overseas and the purchasing cost of the tools. Finally, the research shows the number of equipment that customers need to minimize the cost. This research will help to improve the efficiency of operation of weapon systems and solve the problems associated with the need for maintenance overseas.

Optimum Design of Underwater Connector Hole Arrangement for Deep-sea Pressure Vessel Cover Plate (심해 압력용기 덮개판의 수중 커넥터홀 배치 최적설계)

  • A deep-sea pressure vessel needs to protect the internal electrical equipment from the high external pressure. Thus, the pressure vessel should be designed to be watertight and structurally safe. In this study, a cylindrical-type pressure vessel comprising a hollow cylinder and cover plates at both ends is investigated. For communication between the internal electronic equipment and the external device, holes are bored on the cover plate to install underwater connectors. Considering the type of internal equipment and underwater connector specifications, multiple holes may be required. These holes can affect the structural safety of the pressure vessel cover plate. In this study, the optimum design of the hole arrangement in consideration of the structural safety of the cover plate was performed.
