Abstract A monotone polygon consists of n vertices and is a union of two monotone chains with respect to some line segment in the plane. A watchman route with minimum-links is a polygonal path such that each point in the interior of the polygon can be visible from at least one point along the route. There may be more than one watchman route with minimum links for given monotone polygon. In this paper, we present an algorithm with O(n) time that finds a shortest watchman route among the watchman routes with minimum links in a monotone polygon.

In this paper, we consider a characterization of a Guard Sufficiency Set(GSS) in the hierarchy of simple polygons. we propose the diagonals of a arbitrary triangulation of a polygon as a GSS when guards see the diagonals with completely visibility and both sides of the diagonal. we show that this can be a GSS in convex polygons, unimodal polygons, spiral polygons but this can not be a GSS in star-shaped polygons, monotone polygons, completely external visible polygons.

In this paper, we consider the shortest path problems in a simple polygon. The shortest path between two points inside a polygon P is a minimum-length path among all paths connecting them which don't pass by the exterior of P. A linear time algorithm for computing the shortest path in a general simple polygon requires triangulating a polygon as preprocessing. The linear time triangulating is known to very complex to understand and implement it. It is also inefficient in cases without very large input size. In this paper, we present the customized shortest path algorithms for specific polygon classes such as star-shaped polygons, edge-visible polygons, and monotone polygons. These algorithms need not triangulating as preprocessing, so they are simple and run very fast in linear time.

Histogram H is an x-monotone rectilinear polygon with a horizontal edge, called by a base, connecting the leftmost vertical edge and the rightmost vertical edge. Here the rectilinear polygon is a polygon with only horizontal and vertical edges and the x- monotone polygon P is a polygon in which every line orthogonal to the x-axis intersects P at most twice. Walking counterclockwise on the boundary of a histogram H yields a sequence of left turns and right turns at its vertices. Conversely, a given sequence of the turns at the vertices can be realized by a histogram. In this paper, we consider the problem of finding a histogram to realize a given turn sequence. Particularly, we will find the histograms to minimize its area and its bounding box. It will be shown that both of the problems can be solved by linear time algorithms.
This study attempted to investigate the metallurgical characteristic through material scientific analysis of hammer scale produced as a direct smelting method restoration experiment for each raw material of iron. To this end, four hammer scale groups were set up, respectively, by experimenting with Gyeongju-Gampo Iron sand and Yangyang Iron ore. For the analysis, principal component analysis, compound analysis, microstructure observation, and chemical composition were confirmed. As a result of principal component analysis, as forging and refining progressed, the content of Fe increased and the content of non-metallic objects decreased. As a result of compound analysis, iron oxide-based compounds were identified. As a result of confirming microstructure and chemical composition, Wüstite and Fayalite were observed overall, and agglomerated Wüstite were observed in some. Magnetite on shape of polygon and pillar was observed. In addition, it was confirmed that internal defects, impurities, and non-metallic interventions gradually decreased. In the future, it is necessary to investigate the metallurgical characteristic through material scientific analysis of hammer scale produced through restoration experiments using various raw material of iron, and compare them with those excavated from Iron manufacture ruins.

An automated process planning system for cold forging of non-axisymmetric parts of comparatively simple shape was developed in this study. Programs for the system have been written with Visual LISP in the AutoCAD using a personal computer and are composed of four main modules such as input module, shape cognition and shape expression module, material diameter determination module and process planning module. The design rules and knowledges for the system are extracted from the plasticity theories, handbook, relevant reference and empirical knowledge of field experts. Generally, in forging, only front view is needed for expression of axisymmetric parts, but non-axisymmetric parts need front and plane view. At the plane, this system cognizes the external shape of non-axisymmetric, parts - number of sides of regular polygon and radius of a circle circumscribing the polygon of n sides. At the front view, the system perceives diameter of axisymmetric portions and height of primitive geometries such as polygon, cylinder, cone, concave, convex, etc.

A new KAVF(kinematically-admissible velocity field) is proposed to determine the forming load, the average extruded length and the flow pattern is the extrusion/forging process of polygonal headed bars. Experiments are carried out with lead billets at room temperature using regular polygonal shaped punches. The theoretical predictions of the forming load and the average extruded length are in good agreement with the experimental results.
Currently, the fabrication of a high-tin bronze spoon by traditional manufacturing techniques involves 10 steps in the bronze ware workshop. Hot forging has a major influence on manufacturing and involves two to three steps. The dendritic ${\alpha}$-phase in the microstructure of the high-tin bronze spoon is refined and finely dispersed through hot forging. In addition, twinning is observed in the ${\alpha}$-phase of the hammered part, and the ${\alpha}$-phase microstructure gradually transform from a polygon to a circular shape due to hammering. In this process, the adjacent ${\alpha}$-phases overlap with each other and remain combined after quenching. The microstructure with the overlapping is also observed in bronze artifacts, and this shows the correlation with technical system. The results of the experimental hot forging of Cu-22%Sn alloys show that the decrease in in the amount of the dendritic microstructure, which forms during casting, is in proportion to the number of processing steps and that the refined grain obtained by hammering contributes to the improvement in the strength of the material. From the hammering marks, which are observed on both the bronze artifact excavated from archaeological sites and on the high-tin bronze spoon produced in the traditional workshop, it is presumed that the knowledge regarding the unrecorded manufacturing system of bronze ware in ancient times has been passed down in a traditional way up to the system used currently.
This was studied about aging characteristic of AC4A/$SiC_{w}$ 10-30v/o reinforced composite. Aging hardenability was decreased $SiC_{w}$ 30% > 10% > 20%. Aging hardening of T6 treatmented composite was higher absolute value than AC4A I/M material. And this results indicated initial hardening phenomenon according to increase $SiC_{w}$ volume fraction. Reinforced effect by pressure was the same effect as before aging treatment and the best condition pressure at 75MPa. Similar to reinforced effect according to $SiC_{w}$ volume fraction was 30 % > 10 % > 20 %. In case of pressure is low, whisker is not break the same time press with base metal after wetting. After it is wetting with base metal, a part transformed or wetting part break and whisker maintain original shape or a part transformed on the otherhand, in case of pressure is high, whisker is break in same time it was not against pressure and whisker's shape is near a polygon or spherical shape.
