The study of characterization about magnesium alloy eye-glasses case by anodizing and mixed method (anodizing+burning) (Anodizing과 Burning 공정 혼합으로 표면처리 된 마그네슘합금(AZ31) 안경테 표면의 특성 연구)

  • During the anodizing and burning anodizing process, appreciable amounts of pores were generated on the surface of magnesium (Mg) alloy which deteriorate the quality of the alloy. However, additional burning process subsequent to the anodizing process reduces the density of pores on the surface. We found that additional burning process can increase the quality of Mg alloy. In addition we found that burning process increases homogeneity of the film thickness as well.

  • 현재 식각이나 증착, 이온주입 등에 반도체 공정에 플라즈마를 이용하고 있다. 이런 반도체 공정용 플라즈마 용기의 경우 플라즈마에 의한 용기의 스퍼터 등에 의해 금속 입자가 생성되어 공정중인 반도체 웨이퍼에 오염을 줄 수 있기 때문에 대부분의 공정용 용기는 아노다이징 알루미늄이나 세라믹 등을 사용한 부도체 용기를 사용하게 된다. 단일탐침법은 플라즈마내 금속 도체를 삽입한 후 바이어스 전압을 인가하여 전류-전압 특성 곡선을 해석하여 측정하는 방법이다. 하지만 플라즈마와 측정 시스템의 공통된 기준전압이 있어야만 측정이 가능하다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 일반적으로 많이 사용하는 부도체 용기내의 플라즈마는 기존의 단일탐침법으로 측정이 어렵다. 또한 높은 플라즈마 전위를 가지고 있는 플라즈마의 경우 높은 전압에서 전류-전압특성의 측정시스템을 구축하기 매우 어려운 단점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 이런 경우에도 측정이 가능하도록 축전기의 과도현상을 이용하여 탐침이 전기적으로 부유된 단일탐침법을 연구하였다. 이 방법의 타당성 확인을 위하여 금속용기에서 플라즈마를 발생시켜 기존의 단일탐침법과 부유형 단일탐침법을 비교하였다. 기존의 단일탐침법과 비교 결과는 공정조건에 관계없이 상당히 유사하였다. 따라서 이 방법으로 기존 단일탐침법을 사용할 수 없는 높은 플라즈마 전위의 플라즈마나 부도체용기내의 플라즈마의 측정에 사용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on the Growth and Burning of Anodic Oxide Films on Al6061 Alloy During Anodizing at Constant Voltages (Al6061 합금의 정전압 아노다이징 피막의 형성거동 및 버닝에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, growth and burning behavior of 6061 aluminum alloy was studied under constant anodic voltages at various temperatures and magnetic stirring rates in 20% sulfuric acid solution by analysing I-t curves, measuring thickness and hardness of aluminum anodic oxide (AAO) films, observations of surface and cross-sectional images of AAO films. AAO films were grown continuously at lower voltages than 18.5V but burning occurred when a voltage more than 19V was applied in 20% H2SO4 solution at 20±0.5℃ and 200 rpm of magnetic stirring. The burning was always related with an extremely large increase of anodic current density with anodizing time, suggesting that high heat generation during anodizing causes deteriorations of AAO films by chemical reaction with acidic solutions. The burning resulted in decreases of film thickness and hardness, surface color brightened and formation of porous defects in the AAO films. The burning voltage was found to decrease with increasing solution temperature and decreasing magnetic stirring rate. The decreased burning voltages seem to be closely related with increased chemical reactions between AAO films and hydrogen ions.

Effects of Specimen Preparation Method and Contact Resistance on the Formation of Anodizing Films on Aluminum Alloys (시편의 준비 방법 및 접촉저항이 알루미늄 합금의 아노다이징 피막 형성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, five different specimen preparation methods were introduced and their advantages and disadvantages were presented. One of them, an epoxy mounting method has advantages of constant exposure area, ease of surface preparation without touching the specimen surface during polishing or cleaning, use of small amount of material and ease of specimen reuse by polishing or etching. However, in order to eliminate unexpected errors resulting from preferable reaction at the specimen/epoxy interface and contact resistance between the specimen and copper conducting line for electrical connection, it is recommended to cover the wall side of the specimen with porous anodic oxide films and to remain the contact resistance lower than 1 ohm. The increased contact resistance between the specimen and Cu conducting line appeared to result in increases of anodizing voltage and solution temperature during anodizing by which thickness and hardness of anodizing film on Al2024 alloy were drastically decreased and color of the films became more brightened.

  • Confocal Imaging System is an essential machine for a wide range of inspection wafer. For concurrent and fast acquiring the image data of four channels, the new image acquisition system used the protocol of camera-link standard with the full mode of configuration in interconnection with a frame grabber integrated in a computer, which is popularly used for many cameras, so the programming environment of image processing is optional such as Visual C++, Matlab. In addition, many conventional methods were coordinately used for contribution to build the high quality of images for precise processing analog signals of PhotoMutiplier Tubes(PMTs), accurate control of scanning device, sensitivity of PMTs, and laser source. The prototype of new image acquisition system, could meet the goal of development, it is used in LSCM for high content screening to investigation the processes of elements of living specimens at the same time by simultaneous grab image data on 4 PMTs channels.

Formation Characteristics of Hard Anodizing Films on 6xxx Aluminum Alloys (6xxx계 알루미늄 합금의 경질 아노다이징 피막 형성 특성 연구)

  • In this work, anodizing behavior of 6xxx series aluminum alloys was studied under constant current density and constant voltage conditions in 20% sulfuric acid solution by V-t curves, I-t curves, thickness measurement, observations of surface appearance and cross-sectional observation of anodizing films. The film growth rate of the anodizing films on Al6063, Al6061 and Al6082 obtained at 20 V were $0.63{\mu}m/min$. $0.46{\mu}m/min$ and $0.38{\mu}m/min$, respectively. Time to the initiation of imperfections at the oxide/substrate interface under constant current condition was shortened and colors of anodizing films became darker with the amount of alloying elements in 6xxx series aluminum alloys. Based upon the experimental results obtained in this work, it is concluded that maximum anodizing film thickness without interfacial defects is reduced with increasing amount of alloying elements and brighter anodizing films can be obtained by decreasing amount of alloying elements in the aluminum alloys.

Dielectric breakdown of anodic oxide films formed on AA6061 in 20% H2O4and 8% H2SO4+ 3% C2H2O4 solutions (20% 황산 및 8% 황산 + 3% 옥살산에서 AA6061 합금 표면에 형성된 아노다이징 피막의 내전압 특성)

  • Anodizing of Al6061 alloy was conducted in two different electrolytes of 20% sulfuric acid and 8% sulfuric acid + 3 % oxalic acid solutions at a constant current or decreasing current density conditions, and its dielectric breakdown voltage was measured. The surface morphology of anodic oxide films was observed by TEM and thermal treatment was carried out at 400 ℃ for 2 h to evaluate the resistance of the anodic oxide films to crack initiation. The anodic oxide film formed in 8% sulfuric acid + 3 % oxalic acid solution showed higher dielectric breakdown voltage and better resistance to crack initiation at 400 ℃ than that formed in 20% sulfuric acid solution. The dielectric breakdown voltage increased 6 ~12% by applying decreasing current density comparing with a constant current density.

  • 마그네슘은 나트륨, 알루미늄과 함께 지구상에서 가장 풍부한 금속 중 하나로서 밀도가 약 $1.74g/cm^3$으로서 구조용 금속재료 중 가장 가볍고 우수한 비강도를 지니고 있으며, 우수한 열전도도, 전기전도도, 전자파 차폐능을 지닌다. 최근 마그네슘 및 그 합금은 항공기, 자동차, 전자제품, 기계류 및 생활용품 등에 쓰이고 있으며, 사용량 및 적용범위가 매년 급격히 증가되고 있는 추세이다. 그러나 마그네슘합금은 매우 낮은 표준 환원전위와 치밀하지 못한 표면 산화막으로 인하여 부식에 대한 저항성이 매우 취약하다는 한계를 가지고 있다. 따라서 마그네슘합금의 표면처리 가운데 부식에 대한 저항성을 보완할 수 있는 방법은 활발한 마그네슘합금의 응용에 필수적이다. 이러한 마그네슘합금의 내식성을 향상시키고자 전기화학적 플라즈마 전해 산화처리 (Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation)를 하게 되는데, 아노다이징, 화성피막처리 등 과 같은 기존의 산업적 표면처리 방안으로는 불가능한 수준의 표면경도를 확보할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 두꺼운 산화피막 형성을 통해 이들 합금이 가진 기본적 취약점인 내식성 문제를 보완할 수 있는 장점이 있지만, 다공성 산화피막 형성만으로 기대할 수 있는 내식성 향상 효과가 매우 크지는 못하다. 따라서 다공성의 양극산화피막의 단점, 즉 다공성 물질로 부식성 물질의 이동을 허용할 수 있는 공간을 가지는 구조를 개선시킬 수 있는 추가적인 처리를 필요로 한다. 본 연구에서는 발수성 표면처리를 이용하여 다공성 구조물의 표면이 물에 대한 저항성을 가지도록 함으로써 초발수성 표면을 구현하고자 하였다. 이러한 방법은 기존의 후처리 방법인 봉공처리로는 얻을 수 없었던 다공성 구조물로의 부식성 물질의 침투를 억제할 수 있었으며, 상당한 수준의 내식성 향상 효과를 보여주었다. 또한 물에 대한 반발성은 표면에 물의 이동성을 높이는 효과를 보여주며 이로 인하여 자기세척 효과도 보여주었다.

Implementation of a BLU system for advertisements using a LED and Acryl (LED와 아크릴을 이용한 광고용 BLU 시스템 구현)

  • This paper has proposed and experimentally demonstrated a new BLU using an LED and an acryl, which is specially focused on the implementation about the guiding effect of an acryl luminous by the LED. While the conventional BLU using a fluorescent lamp is generally and widely used, it shows big power consumption with a short life even more too thick to hold on the wall. To solve such demerits, we propose a new method for a BLU using an LED and an acryl in this paper. This BLU system has various scratches on the surface of acryl to get diffusion effect of light, and has been included an embedded board that can dynamically control the colors and the intensity of the BLU through the Internet. We have conducted computer simulations to find out the optimal scratch pattern on the surface of the acryl for the backlight system. Based on the resulted out simulation. The the optimal scratch pattern signs has been developed. The simulation result shows 2,673Lux an average for a luminous intensity test, and the other hand, experiential result shows 2,554Lux. From the experiments, it is possible for the proposed BLU system to be used for real advertisements.

Formation Behavior of Anodic Oxide Films on Al 6061 Alloy in Sulfuric Acid Solution (황산 용액에서 Al6061 합금의 아노다이징 피막 형성거동)

  • Formation behavior of aluminum anodic oxide (AAO) films on Al6061 alloy was studied in view of thickness, morphology and defects in the anodic films in 20 vol.% sulfuric acid solution at a constant current density of $40mA/cm^2$, using voltage-time curve, observation of anodized specimen colors and surface and cross-sectional morphologies of anodic films with anodization time. With increasing anodizing time, voltage for film formation increased exponentially after about 12 min and its increasing rate decreased after 25 min, followed by a rapid decrease of the voltage after about 28 min. Surface color of anodized specimen became darker with increasing anodizing time up to about 20 min, while it appeared to be brighter with increasing anodizing time after 20 min. The darkened and brightened surfaces with anodizing time are attributed to an increase in thickness of porous anodic oxide film and a chemical damage of the films due to heat generated by increased resistance of the film, respectively. Cross-sectional observation of AAO films revealed the formation of defects of crack shape at the metal/oxide interface after 15 min which prevents the growth of AAO films. Width and length of the crack-like defect increased with anodizing time up to 25 min of anodizing, and finally the outer part of AAO films was partly dissolved or detached after 30 min of anodizing, resulting in non-uniform surface structures of the AAO films.
