We investigated the prevalence of feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) in stray and household cats in different regions of Seoul, Republic of Korea. Blood samples were collected from a total of 200 cats (100 stray cats and 100 household cats) and examined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The overall prevalence of FPV was 2%. Among test-positive cats, 3% (3/100) were stray cats and 1% (1/100) was a household cat. The incidence of FPV was higher in juvenile cats (< 1 year, 1.5%) than in adult cats (> 1-year-old, 0.5%). The FPV-positive rates of healthy infected cats and sick cats were 1.9% (3/156) and 2.2% (1/44), respectively. We found the positive rate of vaccinated and unvaccinated cats to be 1.3% (1/77) and 2.4% (3/123), respectively. Unlike antibody tests, FPV antigen tests detected current infections in stray and household cats. Therefore, these tests can help in disease diagnosis and treatment. To our knowledge, our study is the first to survey the prevalence of FPV in different cat populations across Seoul. We found a high prevalence of FPV infection in stray and juvenile cats. Therefore, proper vaccination and surveillance are important to prevent FPV outbreaks.

목적： 해상도가 우수한 경직장 영상을 위한 소아용 two-turn 표면형 수신 코일, 안장 수신 코일을 제작하여 이를 이용하여 얻은 고양이의 경직장 영상을 비교한다. 대상 및 방법： 지금까지 소아의 경직장 영상은 주로 초음파를 이용하여 얻었으나 해상도가 떨어지며 아직까지 소아용 탐촉자는 개발되지 않았다. 소아의 항문직장 기형의 진단을 위해서는 해상도가 우수한 영상이 필요하고, 이를 위해 소아용 직장 RF 코일로 원주형 two-turn 표면형 코일, 안장 코일을 제작하였다. 크기는 직경 7mm, 길이 6cm와, 직경 10mm, 길이 l0cm 하였고, 코일의 구리선 바깥으로는 두께 1mm의 테프론 tube로 감쌌다. 균일한 시험 시료(phantom)로 마요네즈를 이용하여 T1 강조 영상(Spin echo TR/TE= 500/11 msec, FOV=12cm, 영상행렬 256$\times$256)을 얻어서 신호 강도의 profile을 얻는다. 이를 Mathematica를 이용하여 구한 RF 자기장 세기의 분포와 비교했다. 두 종류의 코일을 각각 사용하여 얻은 고양이 항문 괄약근 영상에서 외부 괄약근, 내부 괄약근 등을 구분, 비교하였다.

This study analyzed the Internet consumption behavior concerning pet care through in-depth interviews with 11 people who take care of pets. In this study, along with owners of domestic companion animals, stray cat caregivers were included as pet consumers, which have not yet been included in this category in existing research. Internet consumption was found to differ between people with dogs and people with cats. In the case of dog owners, they bought a lot of bath products, clothes harnesses, and strollers that were not appropriate for cats. Although the pet-poor phenomenon is known to occur a lot among young consumers, who care for pets behavior at the cost of money spent on themselves, even stray cat caregivers, mostly middle-aged women, are wary of becoming pet-poor. It cannot be said that there are gender differences in online shopping of pet consumers. In general, women, who did mainly Internet shopping, and if they are not used to using the Internet, their husbands made purchases online instead.

오늘 소풍을 간다. 그렇게 중얼거린다. 새벽 다섯 시부터 부산하게 움직인다. 어젯밤에 미리 이불 속에 넣어둔 속옷으로 갈아입는다. 역시 어젯밤에 미리 책상 위에 챙겨놓은 나머지 옷들을 입는다. 나를 꼭두새벽에 잠 깨운 휴대전화를 호주머니에 밀어넣는다. 바깥바람은 아직 차지만 문을 힘껏 밀어제치고 터미널로 향한다. 깜짝 놀란 어둠이 검은 고양이처럼 멀리 달아난다. 잠시 뒤돌아보면 창문을 열고 가족이 손을 흔든다. 한 달에 한 번 대도시 종합병원으로 진료받으러 가는 길이다.

The effect of dopamine on the propagation and the frequency electrical activities (slow wave) of the stomach was studied in isolated stomach muscle strips of 145 cats, The gastric slow wave monopolarly recorded by four capillary electrodes (Ag-AgCl) in Krebs-Ringer solution $(ph\;7.4,\;temperature\;36{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C)$ bubbled with 5% $CO_2$ in $O_2$. Dopamine caused concentration-dependent changes of direction of slow wave propagation with decline in development of irregular propagation by domperidone pretreatment. Dopamine also increased the variation of slow wave frequency concentration-dependently. The variation of slow wave frequency induced by dopamine was significantly inhibited by pretreatment with domperidone and phentolamine but not with propranolol, hexamethonium and tetrodotoxin. It is therefore suggested that dopamine plays a role in the genesis of gastric electrical abnormality acting on dopamine receptors and partly on ${\alpha}-adrenergic$ receptors in cats.

척수에서의 통각전달은 말초에서 전달되는 통각정보가 척수내의 척수세포에 전달되면서 시작된다. 척수에 전달된 유해자극 정보는 척수내의 이차감각세포를 통하여 시상으로 전달되고 이로 인해 통증을 느끼게 된다. 이러한 척수내의 세포는 연수등의 여러 부위에 존재하는 신경 세포에 의하여 억제를 받으며 이와 같은 하향성 억제는 뇌에 존재하는 내재진 통계를 설명하는 중요한 인자가 되고 있다. 본 실험은 하부연수에 위치하는 신경핵인 Lateral reticular nucleus가 이러한 하향성 억제를 가졌는가를 알아 보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 고양이를 마취시키고 척수궁을 절제하여 척수를 노출시키고 미세전극을 꽂아 척수세포의 활성을 기록하였다. 여덟마리의 고양이에서 31개의 척수세포를 기록하였다. 이 세포들 중 WDR세포가 14 (45%), HT가 9 (29%), LT 및 Deep세포가 각각 4 (13%)가 되었다. 이 척수세포에 북외측하부 연수인 lateral reticualr nucleus 주위를 건기자극하면 21개 (68%)의 세포가활성의 억제를 받았고 9개의 (29%) 세포는 아무런 변화가 없었고 1개의 (3%) 세포는 흥분되었다. 전기의 자극은 강도 100$\mu$A이며 자극길이는 100$\mu$S 그리고 100Hz의 주파수를 가진 펄스파였다. 이와같은 북외측하부연수의 전기자국은 신경세포의 자발활성뿐 아니라 수용장 자극에 의한 반응도 억제하였다.

Residential streets play an important role not only as a Place for moving but also as a place for social interactions among urban residents. Social interactions among urban residents are critical factor to draw sense of confidence and communality, and community spirit from the residents. Social interactions among community residents, however, are getting restricted severely by automobile traffic in the residential area. This study shows that the level of social interactions among the residents decreases substantially as traffic volume increases in the area. Other daily activities such as relaxing. playing with children, exercising, and doing small works in the street which can caused social interactions among the residents are also decreased as the volume of automobile traffic increases. Residents living in the area of heavier traffic volume perceive more strongly that automobile traffic is the major reason which deters them from interacting socially each other.

국일문화사의 조병갑 대표가 인쇄업과 인연을 맺은 것은 지난 1957년으로 반세기를 훌쩍 넘겨 54년에 이른다. 실로 긴 세월임에 틀림없다. 그리고 적지 않은 나이임에도 불구하고 조 대표는 국내 주요 인쇄밀집 지역의 하나로 손꼽히는 고양시 장항동의 기업인협의회 회장으로, 또한 국일문화사의 대표라는 현역으로 변함없이 활약하면서 후배 인쇄인들의 귀감이 되고 있다. 건강이 허락하는 한 영원한 현역이기를 소망하고 바른 길을 가고자 하는 조 대표에게 50년 인쇄인생과 최근 많은 관심과 정성을 기울이고 있는 장항동 인쇄공단의 준산업단지 승인 추진 등에 대해 들어 보았다.
