  • This study attempted to secure competitiveness in the cosmetics market and provide basic data needed to promote sales and PR after reflecting consumer demands and needs in the development of cosmeceuticals. For this, it investigated their perception regarding the ingredients and efficacies of cosmeceuticals and repurchase intention among a total of 193 adults in their 20-50s who have had prior experience of buying these types of products from an online shopping mall as the importance of cosmeceuticals is emerging. According to a survey on consumer perceptions regarding the ingredients of cosmeceuticals by gender, there was a clear difference between men and women. In particular, when asked about the ingredients of whitening cosmetics, the percentage of male respondents was as low as 30.8% with a significant difference between men and women (t=31.688,p<0.001). In addition, most consumers were very aware of the efficacies of the ingredients of cosmeceuticals on the skin. In terms of actual repurchase intention, however, a significant difference was found by gender and product type in 3 different cosmeceuticals. In other words, men were lower than women in terms of awareness of cosmeceuticals and repurchase intention. Therefore, the development of a plan which satisfies both men and women, easily labels ingredients and meets consumer needs and demands through proper pricing policy are needed during the development of cosmeceuticals.

  • The present study was undertaken to develop the in vitro sunprotection factor(SPF) measurement method having good correlation with in vivo method. As in vitro method, 8% homomentyl salicylate, P3 reference standard and sunscreens on market were measured using SPF 290 analyzer and were compared the SPF with labed value. In vitro SPF of 8% HMS and P3 reference standard were 4.59 $\pm$ 0.12 and 14.94 $\pm$ 0.83. There are good correlation, correlation factor were 0.9506 and 0.9769 respectively, between the in vitro and in vivo SPF for the sunscreen creams and lotions examined. Correlation factors of makeup base & liquid goundation, lotion labled with “shake before use”, compact powder were 0.8812, 0.8632 and 0.5984. The best sample applied method of compact powder was 1:0.8 mixture with cream base. These results suggest that the in vitro test method could be used as an alternative method for SPF.

  • It was to establish the usage possibility as cosmetic material by testing stimulation of Leuconostoc mesenteroides which were cultured from human scalp's dead skin cell by patching it to the skin in the form of solubilized essence. Cultured L. mesenteroides diluted to 1% concentration and essence which contains it were patched to 31 and 32 participants' back each for 24 hours and established the stimulus figures by the specialists in 30 minutes, 24 hours, and 48 hours after they were taken off. They are both revealed as non-stimuli due to the result of 0.011 and 0 points each and therefore they are safe when used as skin products. Considering the results of this test and the other previous studies which reported the L. mesenteroides as anti-allergic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory, L. mesenteroides is usable for cosmetics and worth further research.

  • Due to social phenomena such as rapid aging in Korea, nuclear familyization, single marriage, and low birth rate, the number of Companion animals and the number of households with Companion animals are increasing due to the increase in single-person households. In fact, one out of every four households has a pet, and the scale of the industry is expected to reach 6 trillion won in 2027. In particular, in a situation where the Companion animal cosmetics market is in the spotlight amid the diversification of the pet industry, there is a great lack of research on related research and industry development methods. Accordingly, this study attempted to search and analyze academic data, patented technologies, and the latest data related to pet cosmetics and provide them as basic data for the Companion animal cosmetics industry, and the results are as follows. Academic data included verification of the effectiveness of natural materials to improve the skin condition of dogs, analysis of the pet cosmetics industry, and research on ICT-converged pet cosmetics, and the industry was mainly cleaning cosmetics, with pet shampoo launches in Amorepacific, LG Household & Healthcare, and Aekyung. In the patented technology for pets, a patent has been registered for natural product material composition and formulation ratio for skin moisturizing, skin improvement, thinning, and inflammation symptom relief. • We describe here how we can use microfluidic technologies for fabricating functional materials that could be potentially utilized in cosmetics; these include void structures, functional particulate materials, shell materials, and multi-layered colloids. We can obtain these functional materials as microfluidic approaches provide precise control over both outer dimensions and inner morphology of emulsion drops in picoliter-volume scales with high throughput. We have confirmed that this technique has a great potential to fabricate novel particles and capsules with a variety of chemical compositions as well as higher orders of layers. This microfluidic approach will allow us to develop a lot of new techniques that are useful for a variety of applications, including delivery systems, chemical separations, bio-sensing, actuators, and so on. We do believe that these new techniques will help cosmetic industry not only give rise advanced functional materials and systems but also widen its product categories.

  • In the era of Corona, companion animals provide a lot of comfort to people, and the Pet Pam group, who thinks of companion animals as family members, has appeared. There is also the Pet Pour phenomenon, in which young consumers spend less on their pets and spend on their companion animals. Despite these changes in the times, pet products, including pet food, are still highly dependent on imports. In addition, since domestic standards for cosmetics and supplies for companion animals have not been established, they rely only on cosmetic safety standards and regulations. In addition, the terminology for domestic pet cosmetics has not been established yet. Currently, only the Animal Protection Act related to companion animals has been amended in the domestic law, but in the case of Japan, the Companion Animal Feed Safety Act came into effect in June 2009. In the United States, the federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Control Act covers pet cosmetics and supplies. Germany, which has strong animal protection laws, has various national regulations on food and feed, and detailed national regulations are also provided on the website of the Food Safety Administration. National policies and environments should be established to manage and develop the companion animal industry in Korea as in such a country, and it is considered essential for the development of companion animal cosmetics and various companion animal industries.
