A Suggestion of a New Rock Mass Classification System (새로운 암반분류법의 제안)

  • The rock mass classification systems used in Korea are not standardized. And also the criteria values differ between agencies. So different opinions for rock mass classification can occur among engineers who participate in each design process. In this research, a new rock mass classification system was suggested to correct these problems. For this purpose, the criteria used in the Korean agencies were compared with the criteria used in foreign agencies and standard criteria were selected. Thereafter rational and objective criteria values were suggested quantitatively for the new classification system.

Estimation of Friction Coefficients Based on Field Data (실측값에 근거한 마찰계수의 추정)

  • Friction coefficients of the prestressing tendon are the basic information required to control the prestressing force introduced to PSC structure during jacking. However, the friction coefficients show considerable differences depending on the specifications, causing much confusion to designers. In this study, the ranges of the friction coefficients presented in domestic and foreign specifications are compared together to clarify the differences. Then, a procedure is proposed that can be used to estimate the wobble and curvature friction coefficients from field data such as elongation and prestressing force and from theory related to the friction. The procedure is applied to various tendon profiles of several PSC bridges constructed by ILM, FCM and MSS. The resulting values are compared with those presented in some specifications and assumed in jacking and a reasonable range of the friction coefficient is discussed. Lift-off tests are also performed in some bridges to further verify the results. The resulting wobble friction coefficients are not as small as those presented in AASHTO specifications but range from the lower limit to mid point of domestic specifications, while the curvature friction coefficients approach or slightly exceed the upper limit.

  • New method of volume measurement for reference weights of a pressure balance using a gas pycnometer is proposed. The result of volume measurement of proposed method shows the uncertainties of approximately 0.2% at the level of confidence of 95% for reference weights in the ranges of 1 kg, 2 kg, and 5 kg. This measuring system consists of a sample chamber, an expansion chamber, a precision pressure gage, a precison thermometer, a vacuum pump, and helium as a medium gas. The measurement principle of this proposed method is based on Boyle's law. This method will contribute a reliability of the volume measurements of reference weights for a pressure balance to the national measurement standard.

The Prognostic Significance of the Number of Resected Lymph Nodes in Gastric Cancer Patients (근치 절제술을 시행한 위암에서 절제림프절 수의 임상적 의의)

  • Purpose: The objectives of this study were to investigate the impact of the number of resected lymph nodes on the survival of gastric cancer patients who underwent curative resection, and to evaluate the cut-off values that can have an influence on survival on the tumor stage-stratified analysis. Materials and Methods: The subjects were 949 gastric cancer patients who underwent curative resection at Korea University Medical Center from 1992 to 2002. They were classified according to the depth of tumor invasion, and the influence of the number of resected lymph nodes on survival was investigated. The cut-off value for the number of resected lymph nodes was determined as the smallest value that showed a significant survival difference. Results: The tumor size, location, lymph node stage, the number of metastatic lymph nodes and the number of resected lymph nodes were significantly different according to the tumor stage. The average number of resected lymph nodes was about 39, and it showed linear correlation with the number of metastatic lymph nodes. On the Cox proportional hazard model, the cut-off values of the number of resected lymph nodes, as corrected by the number of metastatic lymph nodes, was 14 for all the patients, 15 for the pT1 patients, 28 for the pT2 patients and 37 for the pT3 patients, respectively. Conclusion: Retrieving a number of lymph nodes that is more than the cut-off value could improve the survival of gastric cancer patients. Surgeons should also make efforts to perform an exact and thorough D2 lymph node dissection. Therefore, we urge surgeons to perform D2 dissection and pathologists should examine an certain exact number of lymph nodes.

A Fast Sub-pixel Motion Estimation Algorithm Using Motion Characteristics of Variable Block Sizes (가변블록에서의 움직임 특성을 이용한 부화소 단위 고속 움직임 예측 방법)

  • 본 논문에서는 H.264 동영상 표준의 가변 움직임 블록을 위한 고속 움직임 예측 기법을 제안한다. 움직임 예측은 H.264의 비디오 코딩 과정에서 가장 많은 연산량을 차지하는 중요한 처리과정이다. 움직임 예측과정에서 정수배 화소 단위에서의 탐색에 비하여, 부화소 단위까지의 움직임 추정은 실제 움직임 벡터를 찾아낼 수 있지만, 이를 구하기 위한 계산량이 늘어나는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 기준점을 기준으로 기준점으로부터 $\pm1$ 화소 내에서 두 번째로 작은 오차 값이 있는 특성 및 부화소 단위의 화소 보간 특성을 이용하여 움직임 추정 과정에서 탐색점을 줄임으로써 연산 처리 속도를 증가시키고, 계산의 복잡도를 줄이는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안한 방법에서는 정수 화소 단위에서의 가장 작은 SATD를 갖는 점과 참조 영상으로부터 추출한 PMV를 비교하여 기준점을 정한 후, 기준점 주위의 8개의 화소 위치 가운데 두 번째로 SATD값이 작은 점을 찾아 해당 방향으로 1/2 화소 단위의 움직임 추정을 수행하였고, 1/4 화소 단위에서도 1/2 화소단위에서 두 번째로 SATD가 작은 점 방향으로 움직임 추정을 실행하였다. 그 결과 기존의 JM에서 사용한 고속 움직임 예측 알고리즘에 비해 PSNR값에 큰 변화가 없고, 움직임 벡터 예측 시간 면에서 약 18%의 시간을 줄이는 결과를 보였다.

Verifying the Suitability or Unsuitability of the Opening Force Criteria Applied to Air Pressurized Access Door to a Smoke Control Zone (급기 가압 제연구역 출입문에 적용되는 개방력 기준의 적합성 여부에 관한 연구)

  • The aim of this study was to verify the suitability or unsuitability of Korean body types by measuring the opening force criteria of an air pressurized access door to a smoke control zone. The opening force criteria were verified by comparing the NFSC 501A, NFPA 92A and BS-EN 12101-6 based on the body standards information from the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards. When measuring the opening forces, the posture of the body should be standing upright and pushing an access door with the right hand, which is a criterion for designing doors. As a result of analyzing the actual measurement results, the pushing force of men and women in their 30's was the maximum value and the forces in those in their 60's was the minimum value. In addition, the deviations in the pushing forces varied considerably. As a result of comparing the NFSC 501A, the men showed lower values than the criteria in every gender and age variable except for the 20's, 30's and 50's variable. A comparison of the criteria of NFPA 92A showed that the mean of the measured values from every gender and age was also lower than the criteria. In addition, when comparing the criteria of BS-EN 12101-6, it was found that the men in every age variable were higher than the criteria. On the other hand, the women in every age variable were lower than the criteria. Therefore, considering the Korean body type against the Western body type, it was decided that the opening force of an access door to a smoke control area to make a downward adjustment should be 110 N in the local criteria. Furthermore, the criteria should consider the characteristics of buildings and users because an optional application of the international standard is not necessarily suitable for local situations.

Evaluation on the Maximum Yield Strength of Steel Stirrups in Reinforced Concrete Beams (철근콘크리트 보에 사용된 전단보강철근의 항복강도 제한에 대한 평가)

  • The yield strength of shear reinforcement is restricted in the present design codes. In this study, the possibility of the yield strength increase in shear reinforcement is evaluated according to ACI318-08, EC2-02 and CSA-04 by comparing the experimental and calculated results. Three cases were used to analyze the shear strength of the beam. One had no limitation in the yield strength of shear reinforcement, another had restriction on the yield strength of shear reinforcement, and the other had a restriction on the yield strength of shear reinforcement and the shear reinforcement ratio. The study results showed that the case with unlimited shear reinforcement yield strength predicted the test result better than other two cases. Even though the rebar yield strength higher than the strength required in present code was applied to existing shear design equation, the result was reasonable. Therefore, the design equation seemed to be appropriate even if the high-strength shear reinforcement is used in practice based on the existing shear design method.

A study on the color management between scanner and monitor using multiple regression method (다중 회귀분석법을 이용한 스캐너-모니터간 색보정에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to recover the CIE XYZ tristimulus values of original colors from scanner output signals, and to reproduce true colors on the monitor. The process of this study is composed of three steps; scanner characterization, chromatic adaptation transformation, and color space transformation between and sRGB. Especially, in the process of recovery, scanner stimuli were obtained accurately by dividing the non-linear photometric response curve into two parts. As the result of test to EPSON Expression 1680 scanner, the average color difference between true and recovered XYZ for 228 target colors, 22 test neutrals, and 36 test colors were 1.49, 0.97, and 1.42 $\Delta$ $E_{UV}$ *, respectively. With the transformation from illuminant D50 to illuminant D65, the input signals to sRGB monitor were predicted. Finally, it could be found that displayed colors with predicted input signals were very consistent with true colors. with true colors.

고체 팬톰을 이용한 방사선치료계획시스템의 정도관리

  • 목적 : 방사선치료기술이 날로 발전함에 따라 방사선치료계획시스템에 대한 주기적인 정도관리의 필요성은 증대하고 있으나, 국내 실정에 적합한 표준화된 정도관리절차서가 없는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 방사선치료계획용 시스템에 대한 정도관리용 고체팬톰을 제작하여 주기적인 정도관리 활용 및 절차서를 제시하고자 한다. 대상 및 방법 : 체윤곽 보정을 위한 삼각기둥 모형 (30cm$\times$30cm$\times$5cm, 30cm$\times$15cm$\times$5$\times$) 및 정형ㆍ부정형, 불균질 측정이 가능한 물등가고체팬톰을 제작하였고, 컴퓨터단층촬영(AcQsim)을 통해 영상을 얻었으며, RTPS(AcQplan)에 입력하여 영상 내 기준점에서의 선량값을 계산하였다. RTPS를 통해 계산된 값의 평가를 위해 동일한 조건하에서 각 기준점에 대한 실제 측정을 이온함을 이용하여 측정하였다. 평가 항목으로는 정방형 조사면, 부정형 조사면, 쐐기 조사면, 불균질 물질 보정, 사방향 조사 등에 대해서 알고리즘별로 수행하였다. 결과 : RTPS를 이용하여 계산된 값과 실제 측정한 값을 비교하여 RTPS의 정확성을 평가한 결과로 합성의 불확도 허용 기준 (3%), 선속 중심축 상에서의 허용 기준 (2%) 등, 선진 각국 및 각 학회에서 권고하고 있는 허용 범위 내에서 잘 일치하였다. 결론 : RTPS는 측정된 심부선량과 선량분포 등 물리적인 인자에 의존하는 제한성이 있고, 실제로 선량계산 알고리즘과 기하학적 변화에 따라 계산값과 측정값 간에 차이가 발생할 수 있었다. 실제 인체의 체윤곽 불균일성과 불균질성을 모사한 팬톰을 제작하여 이용함으로써 다양한 RTPS간의 비교를 통한 치료 선량의 정확성을 평가하고, 방사선 치료의 원활하고 정확한 수행을 위해 실용적이고, 보편적인 치료계획 시스템의 정도관리 방법과 절차서를 수립하는데에 유용할 것으로 사료된다.

A Probabilistic Structural Design Method of Composite Propulsion System (복합재 추진기관의 확률적 구조 설계 기법)

  • This paper describes a probabilistic structural design method of composite propulsion system by comparing safety factor based on average value and allowable value with structural reliability. Generally, the required structural safety factor and reliability of composite pressure vessel are 1.5 and 0.999, respectively. In the case of structural design using average strength, the safety factor which satisfies the required structural reliability depends on the variation of fiber strength. However, the structural design using allowable value shows constant safety factor for the variation of fiber strength, because the allowable value of fiber strength is calculated by considering the variation of fiber strength. Through the analysis results, it was known that the fiber strength is the most important design random variable for the structural design of composite pressure vessel and the variation of fiber strength must be minimized to develop the high performance composite propulsion system.
