  • It seems essential to examine the factors that may affect relationship commitment of subcontractors to parent companies in the industrial market in Korea in an effort to construct a win-win-type cooperative network among them. Lots of studies have been focusing on the consumer goods market. Relatively few studies have been focused on industrial market. In the industrial goods market subcontractors used to sell their parts or services only to a small number of parent companies in a large quantity, resulting in decisive control of subcontractors over the quality of parent companies' finished goods. This is why relationship between subcontractors and parent companies is extremely important. From this viewpoint, this study aims to survey and analyze empirically the paths leading to relationship commitment of subcontractors toward the parent companies which are required to incite them to build up a collaborative network by means of subcontractors' entrepreneurship. For this aim, market orientation effects of entrepreneurship as well as factors of performance and trust are particularly set forth as the bases of developing hypotheses in this study in order to explore the paths from entrepreneurship to relationship commitment as follows. First, the path of entrepreneurship-market orientation-communication-trust- relationship commitment; second, the path of entrepreneurship-market orientation-performance-relationship commitment; third, the path of entrepreneurship-market orientation-transaction specific asset investment -trust-relationship commitment; and fourth, the path in which the entrepreneurship is expected to promote direct transaction specific asset investment by parent companies to induce their trust and, eventually, relationship commitment of subcontractors. The outcomes of the empirical analysis in this study may be summed up as follows: First, the conclusions of preceding studies are also supported here by the fact that the entrepreneurship of subcontractors promotes their market orientation (hypothesis 9), indicating that the entrepreneurship can facilitate collection, proliferation of and response to market informations. On the contrary, however, the assumption that the entrepreneurship of subcontractors might directly accelerate transaction specific asset investment by parent companies (hypothesis 8) is rejected. Second, although the influence of subcontractors' entrepreneurship on parent companies' investment of assets peculiar to their transactions is not affirmed, the assumption is found to be supported that subcontractors' market orientation would expedite the parent companies' investment of assets peculiar to their transactions. Moreover, it is also confirmed that parent companies' investment of assets peculiar to transactions would promote subcontractors' trust toward the parent companies (hypothesis 6), signifying that parent companies may level up their trust in subcontractors when they make great amount of efforts to invest in the assets peculiar to transactions, not behaving opportunistically, Third, the hypotheses 4 and 5 also turn out to be supported by the analysis as the former assumes that market orientation could promote communication and the latter relates that the communication between subcontractors and parent companies would prompt trust, both results in affirming that market orientation could introduce open communication to speed up sharing of information and that sharing of information by way of communication might give an impetus to trust. Fourth, the assumption that subcontractors' market orientation would expedite performance (hypothesis 3) is also proved favorably to the significant level equivalent to that of preceding studies. Fifth, same as preceding studies, it is also verified in this study that the benefit (outcomes) awarded by parent companies to subcontractors will be a direct cause exercising a positive impact upon relationship commitment(hypothesis 2) and that the trust of subcontractors toward parent companies may have affirmative influence on the relationship commitment(hypothesis 1). Overall, the first, second and third paths are identified as being supported by the hypotheses among constituent factors, while the fourth path is deemed meaningless since it is shown that the entrepreneurship exercises no effects on parent companies' investment in the assets peculiar to transactions.

  • Recently, the Korean government announced that it would focus on fostering intrapreneurship and corporate spin-off. The government encourages intrapreneurship because it ultimately seeks to develop industries and markets, grow innovative companies, and job creation. In particular, the government believes that enhancing intrapreneurship will reduce the personal fear of failures, expand open innovation by utilizing resources within existing companies related to innovation creation, and lead to new start-ups. Accordingly, this research reviewed the previous studies on corporate entrepreneurship activities and entrepreneurial self-efficacy and briefly looked at the status of global intrapreneurship activities. Based on the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Adult Population Survey data in 2015, this study conducted a logistic regression analysis with the data of 27 OECD member countries' and Korean respondents. The finding confirms that the personal experience of intrapreneurship could be positively associated with entrepreneurial self-efficacy of the person. Therefore, it seems to be worth for the Korean government considering policies that support intrapreneurship as part of the start-up policy.

And study whether R&D support from public enterprise adjusts intention to entrepreneurial Intention. This study conducted a online survey on 292 small and medium-sized enterprise manufacturing employees in May 2020. Using linear regression model and binary logistic model. The main study results are the following: First, among the key factors(innovativeness, proactiveness, risk-taking) of entrepreneurship, proactiveness hardly influenced the opportunity competency. Second, among the factors(risk-taking propensity, locus of control, tolerance for ambiguity) of personal characteristics, locus of control hardly influenced the opportunity competency. Third, opportunity competency(opportunity recognition and opportunity evaluation) had positive influence to entrepreneurial intention. Fourth, the study investigated the mediated effect of opportunity competency. The result showed that among the factors of entrepreneurship and personal characteristics, only two factors that are proactiveness and locus of control were not mediated by opportunity competency. and opportunity evaluation was acted as a mediator between proactiveness and entrepreneurial Intention, compared with opportunity recognition. Lastly, public enterprise's R&D supporting moderated the entrepreneurial intention). Based on the result, the study showed that first, the key factors of entrepreneurship except for proactiveness and personal characteristics(risk-taking propensity, locus of control, tolerance for ambiguity) except for locus of control affect the intention to start-up, repeatedly. This results are explained that employees have not started a business yet. Second, research on start-up suggests the need to analyze factors differentiated before and after the start-ups. Based on the results, entrepreneurship and personal characteristics show that study on the effects of start-up intentions should be carried out before and after the actual start-up takes place, and can be used as effective data in policies to promoting start-ups in manufacturing field.

The Tips start-up company, which is the subject of the study, was selected for the TIPS support project, participated in all commercialization funds, incubation facilities, and capacity building programs, and was selected as a company that received private investment. One-on-one in-depth interviews were conducted for about eight weeks from January 14, 2022 to March 11, 2022. For this study, the TIPS support project was subdivided into four categories: commercialization funds, incubation facilities, capacity building programs, and private investment attraction, and entrepreneurship factors were classified into four categories: innovation, challenge spirit, leadership, and risk-taking. As a result of the in-depth interview, the influence of the TIPS support project on entrepreneurship factors was in the order of challenge spirit, innovation, risk-taking, and leadership. Specifically, it was found that commercialization funds influenced innovation and risk-taking, incubation facilities had a challenge spirit and risk-taking, competency-building programs had a challenge spirit and leadership, and attracting private investment had an influence on innovation and challenge spirit. The implications of this study are that the TIPS support project, a private investment-led technology start-up support program, was introduced in 2013 and as of the end of March 2022, and a report was prepared focusing on visible performance such as private investment performance and employment rate. However, through this study, by analyzing whether the TIPS support project contributed to the cultivation of entrepreneurship for TIPS start-ups, it was found that it had a positive influence not only on quantitative growth but also on qualitative growth.

  • The locational characteristics of ceramic industry in Miryang city, Kyongnam province, were clarified by means of examining the process of its formation, spatial variation, locations and their changes. The government policy on industry and the business fluctuation are important in the quantitative changes of the industry. The spatial variation of industry toward the outer part of area are the results of equilibrium between the decrease of firms in inner city and the increase of firms in outer part. The births and deaths of firms played important role in the processes of spatial variations. The industry location has lasted by the accumulation of location decision of 'potential entrepreneurs' who learned knowledges on the industry and had personal contacts with the business-related persons for long time. The main factors on the locational decision of firms are personal factor, raw materials, land, water and market. The locational problems have mainly related with plant expansion, land, marketing, labour and capital. They caused investment changes and caused relocations of firms. Such disadvantages as raw material exhaustion, shortage of land and congestion within the agglomeration area, development of road transportation and local government policy on industry location, induced recent decentralization of industry to outer part.
