Carbohydrate, fat, vitamin A, thiamin and iron intakes were increased(p=0.0052), and energy ratio by carbohydrate was decreased(p=0.0009) and energy ratio by fat was increased(p<0.0001) during 2007~2015 year. Mean ratios of nutrient intake compared to the dietary reference intakes for Koreans were very low in dietary fiber(19-27%) and calcium(46-56%), but was higher in sodium(221-289%)(p<0.0001) regardless of year. Based on these brain-based four principles and three components of empathy, a total of 15 lessons were designed and developed for the educational program for middle-school students, "FEEL" (For Empathy Education & Learning). The contents of this program were selected from the analysis of the 2015-revised technology and home economics education curriculum and textbooks. For these purposes, family life culture sections from six high school technology and home economics textbooks were analyzed based on the contents and elements of multicultural competence. After recomposing the family life culture sections, this study developed 12-session teaching-learning materials with an emphasis on media literacy. Among them, 4-session plans were taught in classrooms for 247 students in the 10th grades. To test the validity of the plans, a questionnaires was given to the students as a pre- and post-test. The data were analyzed with paired t-tests. The results showed significant pre and post differences in all sections of multicultural competence except the section of 'general cultural understanding'. This implied that the developed teaching-learning materials were effective in helping students overcome ethnocentrism and enhance the understanding of cultural differences.

  • The purpose of the study were to analyze of the curriculum and textbooks for technology & home economics in the 7th national curriculum, and to suggest the revision direction of them. This study was carried out through literature research of national curriculum and textbooks of Korea and Japan, respectively. The findings of the study were as follows: First, we have three textbooks which are technology & home economics 1, technology & home economics 2, technology & home economics 3 for each grade of middle school student, but one technology textbook and one home economics textbook may be better for middle school student to reduce the learning content following revised curriculum. Second, as an aspect of learning content between technology textbook and computer textbook, the computer and information volume is too much overlapped, which is also the same result at the survey research report of KICE. Therefore, the computer content of technology & home economics textbooks must be considered to reduce according to follow research.
