  • This study empirically verified the effect of environmental dynamism on changes in the dynamic and operational capabilities of an enterprise and its innovation performance. With the aim of quantification, the concept and definition of each capability were defined as a hierarchical structure of dynamic and operational capabilities. Five research hypotheses were established through prior research on dynamic capabilities, operational capabilities, innovation performance, and environmental dynamism. For empirical analysis, the hypotheses were verified based on surveys from 300 Korean manufacturing companies. It was shown that Dynamic capabilities had a positive relationship with operational capabilities and operational capabilities had a positive relationship with innovation performance. And it was shown that operational capabilities had a positive relationship with radical innovation in business groups with high environmental dynamism while operating capabilities had a positive relationship with gradual innovation in business groups with low environmental dynamism. Also, the moderating effect of environmental dynamism was not significant in the relationship with dynamic capabilities on operational capabilities. This study is meaningful in that it lays the groundwork for empirically verifying the dynamic capabilities of an enterprise by embodying its dynamic capabilities and operational capabilities into processes, and verifies the effect of environmental change on its capabilities and innovation performance. And it has implications to suggest how an enterprise should transform its capabilities to sustain its competitive advantage in a rapidly changing environment.

  • In order to confirm whether innovation can be realized through the direction that companies pursue, this study empirically analyzed the relationship between strategic directionality and innovation capacity. Specifically, strategic directionality is divided into customer orientation and technology orientation, and innovation capacity is classified into strategic planning capacity, R&D capacity, and technology commercialization capacity based on previous studies. And the effect of customer and technology orientation on each innovation capacity was analyzed. Data collection was carried out by 368 questionnaires from the workers of manufacturing industry in Gyeongbuk area and the proposed hypotheses were tested by using structural equation. As a result, it was confirmed that technology orientation had significant effects on all three innovation capacities. However, the effect of customer orientation on strategic planning capacity and technical commercialization capacity was accepted, but the relationship with R&D capacity was rejected. These results can provide implications for how to draw innovation from the organizational strategic direction and culture perspectives by explaining the impact of organizational orientation on innovation capacity.

  • Technological innovation is one of critical challenges for small and medium enterprises(SMEs) as well as larger firms. This study focuses on empirical test about the role of absorptive capacity on the relationship between technological collaboration and technological innovation outcomes in the context of SMEs. To achieve the purpose, we conducted hierarchical regression analysis through 266 samples from Korean manufacturing SMEs that is defined as an enterprise less than 300 employees. As a result, more diverse exploitations for types of technological collaboration have significant and positive impact on technological innovation outcomes. Additionally, the results show that absorptive capacity based on knowledge realization capability strengthens the impact on which external sources and types of technological collaboration affect technological innovation outcomes. Based on the results, we propose that SMEs require intense management efforts in establishing capability to create new knowledges, by combining existing knowledges, because excessive exploitations for external sources of technological collaboration necessarily do not help enhance technological innovation outcomes.

  • As the domestic consulting industry matured, consultants were required to have insight into customer's business and consulting business. Gaining these insights requires deep understanding of the business domains and high degree of competencies. This study empirically analyzed the data collected through the survey in order to apply the ICMCI competence model to domestic consultants. As a result of the study, it was found that business competency and technical competency had a positive effect on project performance, but values & behavior competency were not statistically significant. On the other hand, it was found that only technical competency, values & behavior competency had a positive effect on social-relational competency. Through this study, it was confirmed that a deep understanding and perception of the consulting business is necessary to grow into a professional consultant, but there is a limit to generalizing the research results because the characteristics of the population cannot be sufficiently reflected with a small sample.

  • This study analyzed the effect of entrepreneurial competency on entrepreneurial intentions by using the entrepreneurial opportunity recognition as a mediator for middle and middle-aged office workers. The sub-variables of entrepreneurial competency are classified into management competency, technology competency, business competency and funding competency. 222 copies of questionnaires collected from middle-aged and elderly office workers residing across the country centered on the metropolitan area were used for empirical analysis. Based on a simple mediating model with singular mediator using SPSS v22.0 and PROCESS macro v4.0. was analyzed. As a result of the analysis, first, among entrepreneurial competencies, business competency and funding capacity were found to have a positive (+) significant effect on the entrepreneurial intentions, but management and technical competency did not have a significant effect. The higher the business competency and funding competency. Second, it was found that all of the sub-variables of entrepreneurial competency had a significant effect in the positive (+) direction on the recognition of entrepreneurial opportunities. It was confirmed that management competency has the greatest influence on the entrepreneurial opportunity recognition and technology competence has the smallest effect. Third, it was found that the entrepreneurial opportunity recognition had a significant effect on entrepreneurial intentions. The discovery of an opportunity recognizing opportunities for start-up is a prerequisite for entrepreneur. Fourth, it was found that the entrepreneurial opportunity recognition mediates between the management competency, technological competency, business competency, funding competency, and entrepreneurial intention. It suggests that opportunity discovery by recognizing opportunities for entrepreneurship is a prerequisite for start-up. As implications of this study, it suggests that in order to inspire middle-aged and elderly office workers to start their own business, it is necessary to have indirect experience with education and to establish and promote a government support system for financing.. Second, It suggests that education on leadership and organizational management is particularly necessary to strengthen the opportunity recognition. Third, it suggests that the discovery of opportunities to recognize opportunities for start-up is a prerequisite for entrepreneur. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare a manual and conduct training on opportunity search, recognition, evaluation, and utilization according to the stage of opportunity development. Fourth, it suggests that in order to strengthen the intention to start a business, ALso, it is necessary to manage both the entrepreneurial competency and entrepreneurial opportunities recognition at the same time. By presenting the practical directions that can be given differentially, we intend to contribute to the provision of practical directions and policy establishment for the promotion of entrepreneurial activities of office workers who can give vitality to the ecosystem.
