The cause of a pilonidal cyst is unclear, and treatment is still under debate. In Korea, the incidence of this disease is lower than that of Western countries, and it has often been misdiagnosed as a simple abscess. When pilonidal cysts are diagnosed, the principle of treatment is not to leave a residue, and a wide excision is needed to reduce the recurrence rate. This paper introduces a wide excision technique using Indigo-carmine dye to minimize the recurrence of a pilonidal cyst.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the patient perception of clinical nutrition service. The research was performed by using questionnaires and conducted from February 14 to March 15 at 42 hospitals (over 400 beds). 41.7% of patients experienced nutritional education and counseling. The mean score of the patients' perception on clinical nutritional service was 4.62/5.00 for "nutrition care is important for treatment of the disease", 4.49/5.00 for "diet therapy is necessary for treatment of the disease", 4.16/5.00 for "nutritional counseling call-centers are necessary", 4.13/5.00 for "nutritional consultation fee is required to apply insurance benefits", 4.12/5.00 for "one-to-one nutrition system is necessary", and 3.56/5.00 for "nutrition services I am willing to pay". The patients who had no past experience in nutritional education and counseling showed significantly higher scores for "nutrition care is important for treatment of the disease", "one-to-one nutritional care system is necessary", and "nutritional counseling call-centers are necessary" (P<0.05). The mean scores for the importance (4.26/5.00) and performance (3.88/5.00) of nutrition counseling service were significantly different (P<0.01). "Nutritional counseling is available whenever I want" had the highest gap score between performance and importance among nutrition counseling service items. The importance and performance grid showed that highly important items had high performance (doing great area) and less important items have low performance (low priority).

This study examines the performance of and searches for improvements to the existing automatic fire detection systems installed at domestic apartment buildings as a basic study for development of intelligent fire detection systems specifically for apartments. Thus, this study aims to find out the problems in performance and maintenance of the existing fire detectors installed at apartment buildings which is the prerequisite process for development of intelligent fire detection system for that specific application. It is also found impossible to check whether or not the detectors installed at each apartment are in an operational state at normal times. This study finds that it is desirable to replace the slow-sensing heat detectors by a smoke and single smoke detectors which can detect a fire at its early stage in an effort to improve the problems of fire detectors installed at apartment buildings presently. Because we need to the independence fire detection system of apartment building.

When radon is staying at alveoli and bronchial tubes, the collapse of radon creates progeny nuclides (alpha ray, beta ray, gamma ray, etc.). They emit radiation causing a mutation in the chromosome of the cell, resulting in lung cancer. In other words, the main cause of lung cancer is radiation emitting as the result of radon collapse rather than radon gas. The 82% of radiation exposed to people is the natural radiation. Most of the natural radiation is radon. If we properly control the concentration of radon indoors, the probability of occurrence of lung cancer could be decreases to be 70%. Until now, to measure the indoor radon concentration, imported radon sensors are needed. So, DB construction of indoor radon emission and popular radon measuring apparatus should be developed. In this paper, we propose the radon detecting method using PIN photodiode. Also, we confirmed the PIN photodiode could be used as radon sensor module through some experimental studies.

To investigate the effect of hemolymph of silkworm larvae on the multiplication of Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) in BmN-4 cells, BmN-4 cells were infected with BmNPV, which were sequentially Heated with the hemolymph exracted from B. mori larvae. When the culture media TC-100 containing 3% fetal bovine serum was mixed with 10% hemolymph heated at 65$^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes, the released polyhedra by multiplication of BmNPV in BmN-4 cells were increased more than those of non-treated. However, multiplication of BmNPV in BmN-4 cells treated with non-heated hemolymph was not effective, since non-heated hemolymph was toxic for the cell growth. The result of plaque assay showed that plaque forming units in BmN-4 cells treated with heated hemolymph are significantly increased, suggesting that efficiency of multiplication of BmNPV in BmN-4 cells is due to increase not of cell growth but of infectivity of BmNPV.

Through Korean traditional opera (changgeuk) Medea, composer Hwang Ho-jun showed eclectic music idiom by 1) writing music (jakchang) on manuscript paper and score, 2) introducing the "song-through" format, 3) including various solo melodies, 4) maximizing the effect created by a singing narrator (dochang) with the chorus master and a mixed chorus, 5) seeking an interplay of tension and release by using both discord and chord, 6) achieving the effect of kil-bakkum, the Korean traditional method of modulation, through modulation and borrowed chord of Western music. In Medea, instrumentalists adopted suseong-banju (Korean traditional accompaniment) which does not spoil the voice of singers. Hwang adopted song for the way how singers express various hidden sides of play among song, aniri (narration) and balim (gesture) and introduced the Sung-through format in which the play is comprised entirely of song. In Medea, oral sounds expressing wail, lament, cheer, sneer and scream are often used and various solo melodies appear that fit for personalities of characters, clearly showing what bunchang (singers' singing songs divided according to characters) is all about. And discord and chord are effectively used according to the development and mood of play. Hwang also achieved successfully the effect of kil-bakkum by abandoning the traditional modulation method and boldly introducing modulation and borrowed chord of Western music.

The ESD(electrostatic discharge) protection performance of PPS(PMOS pass structure) embedded N-type silicon controlled rectifier(NSCR_PPS) device with different GPNS(Gate to Primary $N^+$ Diffusion Space) structure was discussed for high voltage I/O applications. A conventional NSCR_PPS standard device with FPW(Full P-Well) structure and non-CPS(Counter Pocket Source) implant shows typical SCR-like characteristics with low on-resistance(Ron), low snapback holding voltage(Vh) and low thermal breakdown voltage(Vtb), which may cause latch-up problem during normal operation. However, our proposed NSCR_PPS devices with modified PPW(Partial P-Well) structure and optimal CPS implant demonstrate the improved ESD protection performance as a function of GPNS variation. GPNS was a important parameter, which is satisfied design window of ESD protection device.

The study focused on the printed sheet music delivering the classical music contents in the view of the media. Media scholar Marshall Mcluhan declared that the media is not just simple tool of delivery but is the main subject affecting the human perception and the content itself. The music media, sheet music invented by the development of the printing technique allowed the massive production and it generalized the classical music contents. However, the editing, the mandatory process for sheet music, created the editors who are standardizing and visualizing the music contents and until today, the sheet music delivers the editor's interpretation rather than the composer's. To prove this notion, the study will compare the manuscript and sheet music of Unaccompanied Violin Sonata no. 3 'Fugue' by J. S Bach and will discuss about the compatibility of the sheet music as the music media now.

With the growth of media platforms and fierce competition in the media market, there have been focus on cross media storytelling, a remediation of content already proven successful to another type of medium. In particular, webtoons have emerged as being successful source media, and this study analyzes how the webtoon 's narrative is expanded and transformed in the remediation process into TV drama. The results showed that, the webtoon , which was targeted at a relatively more specific audience, objectively described stories of the life and hardships of an office worker through a contractual employee at a trading company navigating work life based on strategies of Baduk; while the TV drama version, which aims to appeal to a broader audience, strengthened popular narratives with topics of social issues such as 'hardships of the non-permanent employee', 'sexual discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace', 'difficulties of a working mom', and 'romance between new colleagues'. In addition, in order to create dramatic enjoyment, the drama's storytelling strategy incorporated conflicts by creating confrontational relationships among good and evil characters, and added humanism and comedic effect.

20th century music has been recognized as disconnected. Some criticized that it is not music. This controversy has been continued over decades in music history. This study applied Darwin's evolutionary theory to John Cage's 4'33", the most popular music in 20th century and tried to prove musical continuity embedded in it. 4'33" has always been a subject of controversy because it has no sound. However, the study found out that 4'33" has the common musical factor, the rest. 4'33" can be interpreted as the variation of the rest in evolutionary view. The rest has undergone a variety of variations in form and meaning since the beginning of the musical notation and was suitable for a new musical environment changed in 20th century. In the evolutionary view, 4'33" is evolved music, not disconnected.
