It is necessary to consider the suicide problem of the senior citizens according to their occupation rather than simply dividing seniors according to whether they live in rural or urban areas to seek countermeasures against suicide. This study examines factors that influence the suicidal intentions of senior citizens engaged in the agriculture, forestry, and fishing industries using the ranking probit model. As a result, the suicidal intention of senior citizens working in the agriculture, forestry, and fishery industries who felt lonely increased by 3.0%, but the intention to commit suicide decreased by 1.1%, when they value their work, and the intent to commit suicide decreased by 2.7% when they feel a strong sense of belonging to their region. The more family members or relatives they meet every day, the suicide intentions of senior citizens in the agricultural, forestry, and fishing industries decreased by 2.5%. However, since the number of families living together is decreasing every year, there is an inevitable limit on face-to-face contact with family members or relatives. Therefore, it is necessary to establish policy that links the loneliness of senior citizens in the agricultural, forestry, and fishing industries with the effort of public institutions to promote social values.

This study aims to explore how the individual characteristics of the senior job placement project coordinators and the organizational structure in which they work affect their job performance. A survey of 251 coordinators who were working in the senior job placement project agencies were retrieved and used for empirical analysis using the SPSS Win.12 program. The result shows that a sense of self efficacy, the individual traits(understanding of the senior job placement project, attitude towards the elderly) and the organizational structure(the level of formalization of agency) were statistically significant predictors of the level of job performance. The results of this study show that the coordinators who were more confident about themselves, who had more understanding about the senior job placement project, who had more positive attitude towards the social activities of the elderly, and who were working in agencies with higher level of formalization had a higher level of job performance than their counterparts. Therefore, more policy and program considerations should be taken into account in empowering the coordinators, and in providing them with standardized organizational process. This in turn will ultimately enable them to better serve the elderly who participate in the senior job placement projects.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the overall problems at the moment of October 2008, and then to find the improvements of home-help services of the Long-Term Care Insurance(LTCI), which has been revealed many problems since it was released in July 2008. The research uses the literature survey which analyzes 2nd-hand materials studied by other people already, and survey research was executed from active social workers in the area of LTCI. Based on the policy analysis framework of Gilbert and Specht, all the data are analyzed in the scopes of client·benefit(service)·finance·transferring system. This research has found the problems in each scope of home-help services of the LTCI. Firstly, the client system has some problems in mismatching between registered and service clients, estimating client number, and judging service levels. Secondly, the service system reveals deficiency in professionality of social workers, service quality lowering by loose qualification criteria on workers, non-reasonable limitation of service time available, and the same fare system applied to visiting-help service in spite of different levels. Thirdly, in financing system, clients need to pay additional money to get extra services such as meal, hair cutting, bathing etc., due to government financial support stopped, some organizations have to reduce services and replace full-time workers to part-time ones, which makes the service quality worse. Lastly, in the transferring system, the management system for service quality is not well prepared. There are too much competion because of allowing too many home-help service organizations and care worker academies. The suggestions that this research has found to improve the policy are as follows. ① It is desirable to make the registered clients the service ones as many as possible in the long term perspective. ② The LTCI organization requires more workers and higher professionality. ③ Many elderly people who are not eligible now require connection system to be more served. ④ Management system and service manual for care worker are to be developed. ⑤ Laws related to the service contents and process should be modified, the proportion of client charge needs to adjust. ⑥ Home-help service organization licensed by the LTCI needs to be financially supported publicly. ⑦ Monitoring system to home-help service organization needs to be strengthened. ⑧ Evaluation tools to home-help service organization and workers is required. ⑨ Specification to open the home-help service organization needs to be more strict.

The purpose of this study supplies the basic data to plan the optimum mental health service that is reflected needs of the elderly people with mental illness by checking how their demographic-sociological distinctive feature and function level have an effect on their needs of mental health service by being absent situation of a study of the elderly people with mental illness. As results of analysis, the residental type, the disease period, and the decision person of admission-discharge control of demographic-sociological distinctive feature is much effect on needs of programs and also effect commonly on the needs of the health promotion program and the discharge support program. Generally, the function level of the elderly people with mental illness is favorable and the order of function level is the group activity program, the counseling program, and the resource network program.

The purpose of the Convergence study is to identify the factors of health-related quality of life for the elderly and provide the basic data needed to improve the quality of life for the elderly. The objects of the study were 1,367 people aged 65 or older living in Korea out of the original data for the 7th National Health and Nutrition Survey by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Year 2017). Multiple regression analyses was performed by using the SPSS/PC 21.0 statistical program for the purpose of the study. According to the study, mental health and then physical activity were the most influential factors in health-related quality of life. Based on these results, we found that health education is highly important to provide customized health care services and to build the correct lifestyle in order to improve the quality of health-related life. Therefore, follow-up research is needed to identify the effectiveness of developing and applying diverse programs to enhance mental health and physical activity of the elderly in the future.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the claim data of Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service to determine what factors affected the length of stay in patients aged 65 and older and undergoing total knee arthroplasty due to the principal diagnosis of gonarthrosis by the type of medical institutions. As a result of making an analysis, gender, age, medical security type, severity, residential area and the number of sickbeds were identified as the factors that influenced the length of stay in each type of medical institutions. At this point in time when an increase in the elderly population triggered by population aging and another subsequent increase in medical expenses put a heavy strain on household and national economy, it's necessary to consider how to shorten the length of stay and how to ensure the efficient management of sickbeds based on the findings of this study. In addition, this study is of significance in that it could be used as basic data on quality life-care for elderly patients by the introduction of a systematic management system geared toward lessening patient burden for medical expenses.

This study was performed to utilize for foundation data of research related nursing communication and developing nursing intervention by examining the relationship between nurses' perception of the elderly and communication. This study is a descriptive research using a set of questionnaires that examines the relationship between nurses who provide care to the elderly by confirming their perception of the elderly, communication difficulties with the elderly, communication behavior, and satisfaction with communication. After IRB approval, data were collected either face-to-face survey or by online survey. A total of 292 nurses participated in this study. The collected data were analyzed as descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA, Duncan test and Pearson's Correlation Coefficients, Multiple Regression Analysis by using SPSS/WIN 26 program. As a result, a significant correlation was identified between perception of the elderly and communication disorders, communication behavior, and communication satisfaction. We found that nurses who had more positive perceptions about the elderly had less communication disorders, better communication behaviors, and higher communication satisfaction with the elderly. From this result, we suggest that nurses caring for the elderly should receive education on communication methods with elderly to improve their perception. Furthermore, we suggest future studies to improve nurse's perception of the elderly and communication.

This study analyzed the association between the type of transport accident and the associated mortality of elderly inpatients. The findings will contribute to the development and establishment of a systematic and effective policy according to the type of transport accident to reduce the mortality of inpatients. The data on elderly inpatients with transport accidents was extracted from the 2013-2017 Korean National Hospital Discharge In-depth Survey dataset. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics analysis, chi-square tests and multiple logistic regression analysis. After adjustment for sociodemographic, disease, injury and policy factors, the elderly inpatient deaths due to transport accidents were significantly higher for pedestrian accidents (OR: 2.522 95%, CI: 1.291-4.972), bicycle/cart accidents (OR: 2.809, 95% CI: 1.328-5.942) and motorcycle accidents (OR: 2.330, 95% CI: 1.226-4.819) rather than that for car accidents. Likewise, elderly inpatients have a higher risk of death from other types of transport accidents than those caused by car accidents. However, Korean policies related to transport accidents of elderly inpatients are concentrated on car accidents. Effective policy is needed according to the characteristics of each type of transport accident to reduce the transport accident mortality of elderly inpatients.

The purpose of this study is to verify whether there is a mediating effect of social integration in the relationship between the elderly's change of life and satisfaction of care service through the 'Donation Bank of Social Contribution Activities'. The ultimate aim is to improve social values and the quality of life of the senior citizens. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, a survey was conducted focusing on senior citizens using care services from 50 institutions performing Care Bank activities and data of 434 people were finally used for analysis. For the analysis method, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were applied by using SPSS 25 package program. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the life changes of caring elderly had a significant effect on satisfaction of care service. In addition, the social integration had a statistically significant mediating effect on the relationship between the elderly's change of life and satisfaction with care service. Based on these findings, practical and policy alternatives were discussed to improve the quality of life of senior citizens, and to enhance social integration and satisfaction with care services.
