Effect of Nursing Workplace Spirituality, Grateful Disposition, Hope on Nursing Performance among General Hospital Nurses (임상간호사의 간호일터영성, 감사성향, 희망이 간호업무성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This descriptive research study investigates nursing Workplace spirituality, grateful disposition, hope, and nursing performance of clinical nurses to identify related factors. The study participants were 323 nurse working general hospitals K, P, and S cities. Data were collected during July and August 2022 using a structured questionnaire. The SPSS 25.0 program was used to analyze descriptive statistic, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression analysis. The study results indicated that nursing performance was 4.23 out of 7, nursing workplace spirituality was 4.48 out of 7, grateful disposition was 4.23 out of 7, and hope was 2.77 out of 4. Result showed that nursing performance is positive associated nursing workplace spirituality (r=.58, p<.001), grateful disposition (r=.41, p<.001), and hope (r=.47, p<.001). The result of hierarchical regression analysis that grateful disposition (β=.417, p<.001), hope (β=.357, p<.001), and nursing workplace spirituality (β=.235, p<.001), were predictive of nursing performance (R2=.301, p<.000). Therefore, educational programs and workforce management systems that can enhance nursing workplace spirituality, grateful disposition, and hope in the workplace are needed to improve nursing performance.

Effects of Positive Psychological Capitals on Service Quality and Mediating Effect of Job Satisfaction in Professional Care Workers (요양보호사의 긍정심리자본이 서비스 질에 미치는 영향과 직무만족의 매개효과 검증)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic data in order to improve service quality based on empirical analyses about a relationship among positive psychological capitals, service quality, and job satisfaction of professional care workers under the Long-Term Care Insurance in South Korea. In this study, total 430 numbers of the workers who were currently working in nursing homes for the elderly at the cities of Ansan, Anyang, Bucheon, and Kwangmyeong in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, participated in self-report questionnaires. Only 393 questionnaires were used for the final analyses after excluding the ones that neither were not returned nor didn't completed it all. These are major results. First, positive psychological capitals affect positively on service quality. Second, job satisfaction works as a mediating effect in the process of positive psychological capitals affect on service quality. Based on above results, it is possible to suggest it as down below. First, it is required to have policies that will be helpful for both positive psychological capitals and capacity building through human resource management in systematic approaches. Second, it is also required to acknowledge that having positive psychological capitals is effective to improve both their job satisfaction and service quality. Therefore, it is necessary to change environmental circumstances in relevant institutions where this acknowledgement will be applied.

Effects of Individual Motivation on Turnover Intention among Social Workers : Focused on the mediation effects of multiple commitment (사회복지사의 개인적 동기가 이직의도에 미치는 영향 - 다중몰입의 매개효과를 중심으로 -)

  • This study set out to investigate the effects of individual motivation on turnover intention among social workers and examine their turnover intentions in details by focusing on the mediation effects of multiple commitment. To be specific, it aimed to propose and test a prediction model for social workers' turnover intentions based on the Self-determination Theory and Theory of Planned Behavior. For those purposes, a mail survey was taken among social workers working for use facilities, residential facilities, public health centers, social welfare foundations and associations, and all kinds of centers and institutions in 15 cities and provinces across the nation. Total 1,918 questionnaires were distributed, and 1,671 ones were returned, and 979 whose respondents expressed a turnover intention were used in final analysis. The analysis results indicate that psychological motivation of social workers had direct impacts on their turnover intention. However, their role stress had no direct impacts on their turnover intention, which suggests that the impulsive routes model for turnover intention is supported only in psychological motivation and job characteristics. Secondly, their psychological and job motivation turned out to have indirect impacts on turnover intention through the multiple commitment, which suggests that the reflective routes model for turnover intention is supported in all career, job, and organizational commitment. Career commitment had the most significant impacts on turnover intention, being followed by job commitment and organizational commitment in the order, which suggests that the social welfare academy should increase their interest in career commitment.   • Through inductive content analysis, this study sought to examine the crisis experienced by the institution, the quality of service, and the distrust of the system and institution based on the experience of distrust in the home-visiting care service of bbeneficiary and guardians. FGI was conducted on five managers of institutions that provide home-visiting care services. As a result, the central phenomenon was found: deterioration of service quality, distrust of systems and institutions, and difficulties in opera-ting long-term care institutions. In order to improve the quality of home-visited care services and build trust in care workers and institutions, first, home-based associations or operating corporations should develop new education program plans and manuals to strengthen the capabilities of care workers and social workers. Second, the NHIS's monitoring system and the professional management system of care workers should be established. Third, it is necessary to improve awareness of the role, expertise, and rights of care workers, and fourth, improvement measures are required to reduce the turnover rate of care workers, which is the cause of the deterioration of the quality of long-term care services.

Influence of Communication on Acquired Company Members in the PMI Process : Moderation Effect of the Business Area Consistency between Acquiring and Acquired Company (PMI과정에서 피인수기업 구성원에 대한 의사소통의 영향력 : 인수기업과 피인수기업 간의 사업영역의 일치도의 조절효과)

  • Post-merger integration(PMI) plays a very important role in the success of M&A. Therefore, based on previous studies on PMI, this study discusses the relationship between communication of acquired enterprise members and uncertainty reduction, organizational satisfaction, organizational trust in the PMI process, focusing on the moderating effect of business area consistency between the acquisition and the acquired company. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the hypothesis of the relationship between variables was established and an empirical analysis was conducted. In order to collect data, a survey was conducted on members of the acquired company in China, and 317 questionnaires were finally collected and used for empirical analysis. For the collected data, the research hypothesis was verified using SPSS 26.0. The results of the study confirmed that communication has a positive effect on the reduction of uncertainty, job satisfaction, and organizational trust perceived by members of the acquired company, and that the consistency in business areas between the acquisition and the acquired company weakens the relationship between communication and uncertainty. In the positive relationship between communication and job satisfaction, organizational trust, the effect of strengthening the moderating variable has not been confirmed, but rather the weakening control effect was found. Based on these findings, the strategy of communicating with the members of the acquired company in the PMI process is meaningful for the success or failure of the merger and provides theoretical and practical implications for proposing differentiated human resources management measures according to M&A type.

119 Emergency Medical Technicians' Infection Control Education Status, Stress, and Needs related to Emerging Infectious Diseases

  • This study investigated to provide basic data for infection control education on new infectious diseases by confirming the level of knowledge, training status, stress, and need for training on new infectious diseases for 119 emergency medical technicians (EMT). This data collection period was a total of 39 days from August 10 to September 18, 2022, and a total of 105 copies were collected. The analysis of this study used the SPSS 25.0 program. As a result of the study, among the 119 paramedics, the gender of the EMT was 54 men (51.4%) and 51 women (48.6%), with more men than women, with 47 people in their 20s (44.8%) and those in their 30s or older. There were 58 people (55.2%), most of whom were in their 30s or older. The highest total work experience was 3 to 5 years (37 people (35.2%)). In the pandemic situation, an attempt was made to check the education status of 119 paramedics on COVID-19 and the need for education on new infectious diseases. As a result of the study, the status of education on COVID-19 was insufficient. The demand for education on new infectious diseases was found to be high. Among 119 emergency responders who are frequently exposed to new infectious diseases, theoretical and practical training in personal protective equipment, stress, including theoretical training, is needed. A theoretical and practical education program on new infectious diseases and personal protective equipment should be developed as a subject for college students before becoming EMT.

The Mediating Effect of Affect in the Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Organizational Commitment among General Hospital Nurses (종합병원 간호사의 감성지능과 조직몰입의 관계에서 정서의 매개효과)

  • This study was to confirm the effect of emotional intelligence on organizational commitment of general hospital nurses and the mediating effect of affect. Data was collected using a structured online self-report questionnaire on emotional intelligence, organizational commitment, and both negative and positive affect from 236 nurses working in general hospitals. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and a parallel multiple mediation model. This analysis was conducted with IBM SPSS Statistics (Version 27.0) and the PROCESS macro (Model 4). This study's findings revealed that emotional intelligence was significant correlated with positive affect, negative affect, and organizational commitment. Emotional intelligence had a significant direct effect on positive affect (β=.16, p=.015), negative affect (β=-.28, p<.001), and organizational commitment (β=.33, p<.001). Positive affect (β=.20, p=.001) and negative affect (β=-.25, p<.001), had a significant direct effect on organizational commitment. And the mediating effect of positive affect (β=.03, 95% bootstrap CI=0.01~0.07) and negative affect (β=.07, 95% bootstrap CI=0.03~0.12) was also significant. Based on these research results, it will be necessary to research various training programs that can manage emotional intelligence and affect together in developing programs to improve nurses' organizational commitment.

The Effects of Job Stress and Nursing Problem-solving Ability according to MBTI Type of Nurses on Nursing Work Performance (간호사의 MBTI 유형에 따른 직무스트레스, 간호문제해결능력이 간호업무성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This study attempted to determine the effects of job stress, nursing problem-solving ability, nursing work performance, and job stress and nursing problem-solving ability on nursing work performance according to the MBTI type of nurses. The study subjects were 141 nurses working at a medical institution in G Province, and data collection was conducted from March 01 to March 31, 2024. The collected data were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression analysis. Among the psychological function types of MBTI, the SF type (sympathetic and friendly type) was the most common, and among the psychological temperament types, the SP type (sensuous and open type) was the most common. Nursing work performance had a negative correlation with job resource stress, a positive correlation with nursing problem-solving ability, and a positive correlation with problem recognition, information collection, planning ability, and evaluation. The variable that had a significant impact on nursing work performance was job resources, and problem recognition, a subfactor of nursing problem-solving ability, was found to be the best predictor of nursing work performance, followed by planning ability. The explanatory power was 17.8%. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data to develop efficient nursing management guidelines by not only improving understanding of the personality of nurses but also investigating factors related to nurses' work performance. Through the development of programs and measures to improve nursing performance, it is necessary to revitalize programs, provide educational opportunities, and provide institutional support from hospital organizations to enable high-quality nursing care through skilled nursing work.

Case Study of Resource-Oriented Music Listening for Stress Management in Employees on International Deployment (해외 파견 근로자의 스트레스 관리를 위한 자원중심 음악감상 중재 연구)

  • The stress experienced by employees on international deployment has serious implications for their physical and mental health as well as their work performance. This study aimed to investigate the impact of resource-oriented music listening on work-related stress among employees on international deployment. The study recruited 10 participants of varying ages and occupations who had worked abroad for at least three years and conducted five personalized resource-oriented music listening sessions along with interviews. The Global Assessment of Recent Stress Scale (GARS) and Job Stress Scale (JSS) were used to measure stress levels before and after the intervention. Results showed that participants' work-related stress and perceived stress were significantly reduced following the music therapy intervention. The study also found that "awareness of own's life situation" and "self-acceptance of here and now emotional challenges" were factors that reduced regulatory stress among employees on international deployment. This study highlights the potential of resource-oriented music listening as a useful tool for managing workplace stress and promoting the well-being of expatriate employees.
