  • The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effect of resilience in the relationship between stigma and quality of life (QOL) in lung cancer patients. Participants were 119 lung cancer patients who visited the outpatient department of a hospital. The subjects completed a questionnaire of stigma, resilience and QOL. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation, three-step regressions to test mediating effect and Sobel test. Stigma was negatively correlated with resilience and QOL. Resilience was positively correlated with QOL. Stigma explained 15.0% of the variance of resilience. Stigma and resilience explained 41.0% of the variance of QOL. Resilience had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between stigma and QOL. The results suggest that a nursing intervention to decrease stigma and enhance resilience is recommended to improve QOL in lung cancer patients.

  • This study aimed to identify the effect of resilience and positive psychological capital on hospital nurses' professional quality of life. A cross-sectional survey design was utilized to investigate 221 general hospital nurses from June 1 to 30, 2021. Professional quality of life (ProQOL), which is conceptualized with three sub-dimensions (compassion satisfaction, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress), resilience, and positive psychological capital variables were measured. There was a positive relationship between compassion satisfaction and resilience, positive psychological capital, and a negative relationship among burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and the other variables in this study. The main factors influencing compassion satisfaction were resilience, and positive psychological capital, which explained about 47% of compassion satisfaction. Burnout was influenced by resilience, positive psychological capital, and work pattern, and these variables explained about 37% of burnout. Notably, it was found that resilience was the most crucial factor in nurses' compassion satisfaction, and positive psychological capital was the most crucial factor in nurses' burnout. Thus, it is suggested to develop and verify the effectiveness of a resilience improvement program and positive psychological intervention program to strengthen the internal resources of hospital nurses.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing resilience of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. The subject(N=118) was a systemic lupus erythematosus patient who visited the E hospital in D city. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-tset, ANOVA, pearson correlation, and multiple regression. As a result of the study, impact domain of uncertainty, fatigue, self-management domain of uncertainty, trust in doctors domain of uncertainty significant effects on resilience. Based on this study, in order to improve the resilience of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, a multifaceted approach is needed to reduce the uncertainty perceived by the patient and control fatigue. In addition, it is required to develop an effective nursing intervention program to enhance resilience reflecting influencing factors.

  • This study was conducted to verify the effects of self-efficacy and job stress coping on the resilience. The subjects were 240 hospital nurses in Jeonbuk and 231 questionnaires were used in the analysis after exclusion of nine due to insufficient data. Data were collected from May to June, 2017 and analyzed with the SPSS 23.0 program. Specifically, differences in resilience based on the characteristics of the participants were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA with Duncan's post hoc test, while correlations between variables were analyzed by Pearson's Correlation Coefficient. Additionally, the effects of self-efficacy and job stress coping were evaluated by multiple regression. Self-efficacy and job stress coping were found to be positively correlated with resilience. In addition, self-efficacy and job stress coping were identified as factors influencing the resilience of clinical nurses, and self-efficacy had a greater effect on resilience. To improve the resilience of clinical nurses, it is necessary to develop resilience improvement programs.

  • This study aimed to identify the mediating effect of resilience on the relationship between stress during clinical practices and clinical competence in nursing students. A total of 137 senior nursing students in three different universities located in C city were included. The study period was between October 15 and November 15, 2016, and the data were collected using by structured questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and Multiple regression using the SPSS 22.0 statistical program. The average score of stress in clinical practice, clinical competence, and resilience were $3.09{\pm}0.43$, $3.54{\pm}0.45$ of 5 and $4.93{\pm}0.66$ of 7. There were significantly negative correlations between stress in clinical practice and resilience (r=-.24, p=.005), as well as stress in clinical practice and clinical competencies (r=-.21, p=.012), while there were significantly positive correlations between resilience and clinical competencies (r=.59, p<.001). Resilience had a full mediated effect between stress in clinical practices and clinical competencies, which showed the significance upon Sobel test (Z=-3.02, p=.003). Therefore, it is suggested that various training courses and programs for strengthening resilience should be developed and applied to nursing curriculum.

Between March 1 to April 30, 2019, 531 nursing students in two different colleges located in Gyeonggi Province were enrolled to undertake a survey. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, t-tests, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression. Results reveal that the meaning of life had a significant positive correlation with empathy skills, resilience and the degree of college adjustment. It was also ascertained that college adjustment was better when the meaning of life, empathy skills and resilience were greater. Factors affecting college adjustment include gender, grade, education at admission, health status, major satisfaction, stress, family economy, meaning of life and resilience; these variables had a 44.8% explain ability of college adjustment. • This study examined the stress reaction, resilience levels, and the effects of the stress reaction on the resilience among dental hygiene students. From July 11, 2016 to July 29, 2016, questionnaires were collected from 274 dental hygiene students in several areas. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS Statistics ver.21.0. The stress reaction level of dental hygiene students was found to be 2.59 out of 5 points and the resilience level was 4.47 out of 7 points. The stress reaction and resilience showed a significant negative correlation in Fatigue, Tension, Frustration, Anger, Depression, Aggression(p>0.001), and stomatization(p>0.05). In other words, the lower the resilience, the higher the stress reaction. The factors of stress reaction influencing the resilience were depression and somatization, which explained 25.6%(R2=0.256). Therefore, to enhance the resilience of dental hygiene students, it is important to investigation the stress reaction and there should be more concern with students who have higher depression and stomatization. In addition, efforts to control the stress reaction are needed.

Data were carried out from March 7 to May 5, 2021, and a total of 200 questionnaires were used for data analysis. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression using SPSS WIN 24.0 program. As a result of the analysis, the lower the sense of social isolation, the higher the social support, the satisfaction with the explanation of isolation and the economic status of 'medium' were identified as related factors for resilience. Based on the above results, a systematic program should be developed and applied to improve the resilience of COVID-19 patients including strengthening social support through families and health care providers, reducing social isolation through non-face-to-face counseling, providing sufficient information about diseases, and providing economic support.
