The Necessary Conditions and Deterring Factors of Good Care (좋은 돌봄의 필요조건과 저해요인에 관한 연구 - 노인돌봄을 중심으로 -)

  • Social care service has grown much with the introduction of Long-Term Care Insurance, but it remains difficult to answer in the affirmative to the question: are we providing sufficiently good care? This study has its purpose in figuring out what conditions are necessary to realize good care in our society. The study has used focus group interview (FGI) as a way to acquire realistic knowledge on the conditions that create good care and its deterring factors. The focus group interview, which targeted long-term care workers and facility heads, was conducted three times from January through March 2014, with each session taking about 3 hours. The analysis showed that the components of good care were mutual understanding and recognition through active interaction, making a good relationship based on mutual trust and respect, professionalism of care worker with flexible judgment that provides customized services, professionalism of center manager with appropriate intermediation, and the tripartite partnership among family, elderly, and care worker. Meanwhile, the deterring factors of good care were identified as devaluation of care labor, ambiguous job description and abuse, unprofessionalism of care worker and manager, inappropriate interference and indifference of family, and the structural constraints on long-term care environment.

A Qualitative Study on the Anthropocene Perception and Experience of Undergraduates Using Focus Group Interviews (FGI) (포커스 그룹 인터뷰(FGI)를 활용한 학부생들의 인류세 인식과 경험에 대한 질적 연구)

  • In order to prepare for the Anthropocene, this study aims to provide basic data on the direction of the Anthropocene liberal arts education by sharing experiences on anthropocene perception for undergraduates using the FGI analysis method. Interviews were conducted on 14 people who participated in liberal arts tutoring for about four months from October 2021 to January 2022, and as a result of confirming meaningful concepts according to qualitative analysis methods, a total of three topics, eight subcategories, and 16 sub-units were derived. "The advent of the new geological age" recognized that the anthrop tax was close to our lives, and it was time to predict the future through the meaning, seriousness, and development potential of the anthrop tax, and "Anthropocene Reorganization and Responsibility" emphasized the reorganization and responsibility of individuals, companies, and governments. The Direction of Human Tax Liberal Education proposed future basic liberal arts education, action practice for climate change, measures to overcome the anthropology using ICT technology, and various liberal arts education contents for a positive anthropology. In this regard, this study raised perception of the survival of mankind by in-depth exploration of the anthropocene in terms of liberal arts education, suggested the direction of future liberal arts education necessary in the anthropocene era, and suggested implications for the educational content and method.

  • The purpose of this study was to present a developmental direction of the early childhood social education in kindergarten by investigating the mother's perceptions using the focus group interview. Mothers who have 4~5 year old children were selected for 3 focus group interviews. The following results were obtained: 1) The mothers recognized early childhood social education as an essential step before entering elementary school. 2) The mothers were found to have recognized that the cultivation of the various social situations of the children in kindergarten would be a very important task of the kindergarten, because kindergarten is a place for children to be introduced to social experiences for the first time in their lives. 3) Most of the mothers have the perception that early childhood social education showed positive effects on the development of their children. This perception was based on the evaluation of the social educational effect of kindergarten compared to that of elementary school.

  • The study acknowledges the values of periodical indexing as information resources. The study identified periodicals users' needs of article indexing services based on focus group interviews. The study also conducted a comparative study of periodicals indexing services of libraries and databases in Korea and the US. The study argues for the need of seamless services for users of periodical articles indexing services. The study also recommends the elements needed for improving the current service, which includes establishing a collaborative indexing system, adopting a metadata standard, implementing authority files, incorporating social web services, offering diverse ways of information discovery based on facet approach, and stabilizing identification systems.

A Study on Mathematics Teachers' Beliefs about Their Use Technology Experiences: Focused Group Interviews (공학 사용의 경험에 근거한 수학교사의 신념 연구 : 포커스그룹 인터뷰)

  • The purpose of this study was qualitatively conducted for getting the answer of this problem by searching the beliefs of mathematics teachers with experience in technology and the factors that influences these beliefs. The participants in this study consist of eight teachers and one university professor having technological experiences from three years to ten years with a higher degree than M.A. The data was collected through focused group interviews for twice and individual interview as well. Data analysis was completed through several readings of transcripts and then main themes were derived by classifying, comparing, and contrasting codings. The result of this study showed that teachers with the experiences of technological tools have the concrete belief that technology helps both students and teachers understand mathematical concepts and enhance various representational activities and motivations. The result also identified the impeding factors of three beliefs of mathematics teachers. From these beliefs and factors, this study would suggest how to help teachers hold their beliefs about using technologies to improve their teachings and students' learning.

A Study on the Improvement Direction for Online Finding Aids: Based on the Assessment of National Archives (온라인 검색도구의 개선 방안에 관한 연구 - 국립기록관 검색도구에 대한 평가를 중심으로 -)

  • Many archives, including the National Archives of Korea, use online finding aids. However, in many aspects, they need improvement. In this study, with focus on the National Archives of Korea, the online finding aids of the National Archives of Australia (NAA), The National Archives (TNA) of United Kingdom, and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) of the United States were analyzed. Focus group interview was administered to users of the archives, identifying the pros and cons of online finding aids of NAA, TNA, and NARA. Based on the results, various improvement and development directions are suggested, including aspects on overall functions and hierarchical search, search options and subject search, representing search results, and archival contents services.

  • 신임 만로랜드코리아 케네스 한센(Kenneth Hansen) 회장은 덴마크 출생으로 지난 1996년 덴마크 정부로부터 수도인 코펜하겐 국제 친선 사절단의 임원으로 선정되기도 한 저명한 인물이다. 인쇄와 관련해서는 약 16여년간 EAC에 근무한 적이 있어 인쇄전반에 대한 해박한 지식과 정보를 가지고 있으며,더욱이 이 기간동안 한국을 비롯한 중국, 홍콩, 대만에서 근무한 경력이 있다. 한국에는 4년 동안 근무한 바 있기 때문에 누구보다 한국에 대한 이해가 높다. 그 후 대만의 가장 오랜 역사를 지닌 Tait그룹의 CEO로도 근무한 바 있으며, 이후에 영국 런던의 시티은행에 4년간 만그룹 등의 파이낸싱 프로젝트의 책임자로도 근무했다. 케네스 한센 회장은 만로랜드 그룹의 아시아 지역 대표인 동시에 만로랜드코리아의 회장이며, 만로랜드 본사 회장의 직속에 있기때문에 국내에서의 경영에 않은 변화가 있을 것으로 예상된다. 이에 본지에서는 케네스 한센 회장의 포부와 앞으로의 경영계획에 대해 들어보았다.

  • 1990년대 '4 3그룹'은 한국 건축을 주도해온 소장파 그룹이다. 개발 열풍에 '건축'에 대한 국민적 인식과 토양이 빈약한 시대, 이들은 '메시지가 있는 건축'을 내세우며 건축계 담론을 주도했다. 4 3그룹에서 김인철 건축사는 전통에 바탕을 둔 공간철학인 '없음'을 화두로 작업해왔다. 이는 '형태는 기능에 따른다'라는 루이스 설리번의 말을 '형태는 공간을 따른다'로 바꾸어 우리 건축의 정체성을 확인하려는 것이다. 그는 건축평론가들 사이에서 건축의 본질을 추구하는 자세가 자연스럽고, 집요하며 진정성이 있다는 평을 듣는다. 머물러있지 않고 지속적인 실험 탐구로 변화하며, 건축을 다루는 손맛이 좋은 것으로 유명하다. 그런 그가 올 4월 행복도시의 건축을 집행하는 행정중심복합도시건설청 총괄건축가에 선임됐다. 최근 그의 사무소로 찾아가 근황과 총괄건축가로서 원칙, 그리고 앞으로의 계획 등을 들어봤다.

An Analysis on Bibliotherapy Experiences of Bibliotherapists in Library (도서관 독서치료사의 독서치료 경험 분석)

  • The aim of this study is focused on knowing what bibliotherapists experience while they are in a session with their clients in library settings. Qualitative interviews were conducted as the main research tool or method used for this study. The study participants included 12 bibliotherapist respondents specializing in library. They were divided into two groups of 6 and each group was interviewed for approximately 2 to 3 hours. The interview employed a question asking methodology modified from that presented and/or originally used by Kruger and Casey(2000). The interview utilized open ended questions in the order of starting, introduction, main, and ending questions. Analyses of the interviews were based on methods presented by Morgan and Scannell(1998). Results of the study show that experiences through therapy sessions consisted of 7 different themes, 26 specific categories, and 84 unique concepts. The purpose of the study was to observe the problems bibliotherapist have or may encounter in library settings, provide feedback to make each session better, and as a result, help both the library and bibliotherapist during the bibliotherapy process.

  • This study is a qualitative research to find out the experiences of the students who are helping students with disabilities in S University in Busan and the perceptions of their role as assistants. 12 student participants were divided into three groups, and group focus interviews were conducted. Four improvement points (systematizing selection, monitoring expenses, and strengthening education system) were derived for the support system for students with disabilities, and based on these four concepts, 10 categories were deduced. From the results, we suggested the improvement plan of the project to support college students with disabilities.
