This study is a one-group pre-post test design-like experimental design study, and 89 fourth graders of the Department of Nursing at one university were targeted. Data collection was from September to December 2019. The collected data were analyzed through frequency and percentage, mean, standard deviation, paired t-test, and Pearson correlation using the SPSS 20.1 program. As a result of the study, the subject's communication competency after simulation practice training (t=3.41, p<.001), critical thinking tendency (t=2.75, p<.007), professionalism was found to have increased statistically significantly (t=2.56, p<.012). After simulation practice, it was found that communication competency, critical thinking tendencies, and professionalism each had a positive correlation.

  • Purpose: The objectives of this research are to verify the development and effectiveness of a nursing student emotional competency promotion program that is important in professional nursing strategies for strengthening the psychological well-being of patients. Methods: This research was done by developing an emotional competency promotion program for nursing students according to the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation (ADDIE) model. Apply the program to students and evaluate their effects on their self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management and self-efficacy using a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this research were 48 nursing students enrolled in the department of nursing of D College; 24 students were placed in the experimental group and 24 students were in the control group. The experimental group participated in the developed program from December 18, 2017 to January 12, 2018, for a total of 8 sessions. Each session was 120 minutes long. For data collection, a pretest, posttest 1 and 2 were performed using an independent t-test and repeated measure ANOVA using SPSS/WIN 22.0. Results: The experimental group who participated in the emotional competency promotion program showed higher self awareness (F=5.65, p=.005), self management (F=11.12, p<.001), social awareness (F=5.02, p=.009), relationship management (F=11.22, p<.001) and self-efficacy (F=14.24, p<.001) than the control group. These results were supported by a statistically meaningful difference in the time period and the interaction between the time period and the two groups. Conclusion: The study's findings indicate that the emotional competency promotion program developed through this study is effective at increasing the self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management and self-efficacy of nursing students.

Data collection was conducted before and after 6 weeks of integrated clinical practice for 38 nursing college students from July 19 to September 10, 2021 with a single group pre- and post-design. The collected data were analyzed by frequency, Wilcoxon sign rank, and Pearson correlation using SPSS/Win 23.0. After the integrated clinical practice, 1st program outcomes(Care integration)(Z=-4.63, p<.001), 2nd(Core practice)(Z=-3.99, p<.001), 6th(Critical thinking)(Z=-3.60, p<.001) and 11th(Research practice)(Z=-2.76, p=.005) increased significantly compared to before practice. Since integrated clinical practice was found to be an effective practice to improve program outcomes, it is suggested to actively utilize it as a strategy for improving program outcomes.

The study design was a convergent mixed method using single-group pre-post test design and individual in-depth interviews. After applying the virtual reality program, the post-score (104.16±12.98) was statistically significantly higher than the pre-score (98.59±18.09) (t=1.85, p=.030). There was no statistically significant difference in critical thinking after the program, with the post-score of 101.66±7.18 and the pre-score of 99.18±15.13 (t=1.00, p=.108). Methods: This study was conducted using a nonequivalent control group with a pretest-posttest design. The participants were 101 certified care workers: 58 in the experimental group and 43 in the control. The experimental group completed the palliative care education program consisted of 20 hours of classroom training and 20 hours of clinical practicum. An ANCOVA was performed to compare the score changes to outcome variables. Results: Compared with the control group, the experimental group showed significant pretest-posttest differences in both the perception of hospice care (F=21.09, P<0.001) and attitude towards caring for terminally ill patients (F=13.28, P<0.001). Conclusion: These results indicate that the palliative care education program for caregivers is effective in preparing participants to provide hospice/palliative care service. Further study is warranted to explore the effects of this program on palliative caregivers' performance.

Results showed that nursing students with high nursing satisfaction had higher critical thinking disposition than those with lower nursing satisfaction (F=4.57, p=.012). There were no significant differences according to time (F=0.20, p=.821). The clinical performance was not significantly different according to nursing satisfaction (F=1.08, p=.343) and time (F=1.58, p=.210). This means that increasing nursing satisfaction would be a strategy for increasing the critical thinking disposition that was the core competency of nursing students.
