  • This paper is aimed at proposing a data mining-driven analysis to manage the customer defection rate in the bank. After 1997 IMF crisis, Korean banks were suffering from hard-pressed restructuring. At the heart of such restructuring effects, there was the need to manage the customer more effectively than ever. So far, many banks in Korea used to a poor management of customers without any highly-skillful techniques. In line with this argument, we propose several data mining techniques to determine more effective technique far managing customer deflection. We applied three data mining techniques such as logit model, neural network, and C5.0. Experiment data were collected from personal deposit account data of a specific bank in Korea. After experiments, we found that C5.0 showed more robust performance compared to other two techniques. On the basis of those experiment results, we proposed customer defection management policy.

  • A quantitative survey of the protozoa microfauna at bioreactor of advanced sewage treatment plant was carried out during a period of 11 months. In this study, 32 genera were identified, including 17 ciliates. The abundance of the important protozoa were compared with the operating parameters and water quality of the effluent of the plant using statistical procedure. Statistical analysis revealed a relationship between the abundance of some genera and removal rate. In particular, correlation analysis on the quality of effluent and protozoa indicated that Lepadella may be used as the bioindicator of TP removal and Trochilia, Entosiphon, Colepus may be used as the bioindicator of TN removal when water temperature was below $20^{\circ}C$.

  • The Korean Won-Dollar exchange markets showed radical price movements in the late 1990s and 2008. Therefore it provides good sources for studying volatility phenomena. Using the GARCH option models, I analysed how the prices of foreign exchange options react volatilities in the foreign exchange spot prices. For this I compared the explanatory power of three option models(Black and Scholes, Duan, Heston and Nandi), using the Won-Dollar OTC option markets data from 2006 to 2013. I estimated the parameters using MLE and calculated the mean square pricing errors. According to the my empirical studies, the pricing errors of Duan, Black and Scholes models are 0.1%. And the pricing errors of the Heston and Nandi model is greatest among the three models. So I would like to recommend using Duan or Black and Scholes model for hedging the foreign exchange risks. Finally, the historical average of spot volatilities is about 14%, so trading the options around 5% may lead to serious losses to sellers.

  • This study was a descriptive research investigating the impact of simulation-based learning on the problem solving process and clinical competence of new nurses. The 202 participants were new nurses who have provided nursing care for less than 12 months have experienced simulation-based learning more than once in their undergraduate courses. This study found that the number of times participants have experienced the simulation-based learning had no correlation with their problem solving process and clinical competence, but simulation design features correlated with their problem solving process and clinical competence. The results of clustering analysis that examined differences in the effects on problem solving process and clinical competence by classifying simulation design features by clustering also showed significant differences. This study has confirmed the importance of simulation design to simulation-based learning in nursing education. We hope that the findings of the study will be used for effective operation of simulation-based learning. In the future, objective assessment methods will be required to evaluate the effects of simulation-based learning provided in undergraduate courses on nurses' clinical competence.

  • This research was conducted to analyze the relationship among school bullying types, collaboration empathy skills, and adaptation of school life. A survey was conducted for the research, and asked 213 adolescents in middle and high schools in capital area(middle school: 106, high school: 107). Data Analysis was used a two-step cluster analysis to classify the type of bullying, explanation of a prediction variable according to the groups were analyzed by a multiple logistic regression analysis. The results of analysis of the research are as in the following. First, experience of afflicting or suffering from school bullying had negative correlation with collaboration empathy skills, and also with school life adaptation. Secondly, assailant group and victim group of school bullying was related to the lack of collaboration skill, and also related with empathy skill. Thirdly, collaboration empathy skills was influential factor on the adaptation of school life. Based on the results, collaboration empathy skills reduce the experience of bullying, and have a positive impact on the adaptation of school life. It confirmed the need for a social skills training program and discussed the implications.

  • The purpose of this study is to classify debris flow hazard zones in urbanized areas using multivariate statistical analyses and to suggest customized management strategies to each areal type. Using field survey data set in Seoul, 49 sample debris hazard zones are selected. Clustering and discriminant analyses show that debris flow hazard zones are classified into two types. Surrounding land use and land slope are major factors influencing to the categorization. The results suggest that, by considering the characteristics of each areal type, more customized management strategies for debris flow hazard are necessary. Particularly, in addition to traditional structural measures, non-structural measures including land use and development control for downstream built-up areas should be emphasized in urbanized areas to mitigate human and property damages from debris flow hazard more fundamentally.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate flooding vulnerability considering spatial characteristics focused on Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. Assessment Factors are water cycle area ratio, surface runoff, and precipitation. And construction of assessment factors and vulnerability was analyzed by GIS program. Water cycle ratio and surface runoff were vulnerable in urban area. Precipitation was often distributed in agriculture of the northern region. Results of flooding vulnerability were low in agriculture and forest of the northern region. In contrast, urban area was high because there has covered impervious land cover. Analytical results of flooding vulnerability density using hotspot spatial cluster analysis were high in urban area. And these areas were situated in down stream so flooding were generated. Therefore, flooding vulnerability assessment of this study can help for selecting construction sites of pervious land cover and rainwater management facilities in urban and environmental planning.

  • This research case-study places are chosen Seoul Metropolitan City and Yong-In City where the distinction characteristics of outdoor spaces are introduced in Apartment Complex. In this study, the standard of waterscape facilities will be set through preliminary researches and detail design factors are prepared for each characteristics. Analyze and research the characteristics of design factors through the field research of places. The Group data from Cluster Analysis, which is about waterscape facilities, is analyzed and classified by types of waterscape facilities in common residence. and then each type of characteristics and representatives of waterscape facilities founded. Waterscape facilities are charactered in 4 main types. I Type is appeared to the natural artificially mountain stream, slope and a rest space type, and feelings type. This type has twenty sites. II Type is appeared to the fewest sites(11 sites). This type is appeared to the Eco-pond, Border planting next to the waterscape facilities. III Type is appeared to the largest sites(28 sites), that is, play style water facilities of no-plantation patterns. IV Type is appeared to the retaining wall type, the rest space of bench type. Research result led, detailed plan element 64 are selected with design elements Seoul Metropolitan City and the Yong-In City at the time of the fact that well is only reflected commonly from external spaces, the type by quality which leads a statistical analysis the type quality was well reflected relatively was judged.

  • The object of study is to propose a method for grouping R, F, and M in RFM model. Our model uses 6 levels using standard normal distribution. First level is upper 2.5% and second level next 13.5%, third level next 34%, fourth level next 34%, fifth level next 13.5%, sixth level next 2.5%. Values are symmetric and limits are clear. We compare proposed model with traditional 5 level model and 10 level model using NDSL data of KISTI. Proposed model divides most clearly the distribution of the RFM function for all cases of weights, because it uses the distribution of customers. Comparison studies of our model with grouping using cluster analysis and studies on weights of RFM model are needed.
