The Relationship Among Domain-General Creativity, Linguistic Intelligence, Korean Language Grade and Linguistic Creativity of Elementary School Student (초등학생의 일반창의성, 언어지능, 국어성적과 언어창의성 간의 관계연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship among domain-general creativity, linguistic intelligence, Korean language grade and linguistic creativity of elementary school student. And to confirm the relative predictive power of domain-general creativity variables in predicting elementary school students' linguistic creativity. The instruments used in this study were 'TTCT', 'Essay writing' and 'Linguistic intelligence ' and school grade of Korean language. Self-reported response data on these instruments from 338, 4th grade elementary school students in Seoul were analyzed. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations, multiple stepwise regression analysis and ANOVA by using SPSS 18.0. The major results of this study were as follows; First, the correlations among domain-general creativity, Korean language grade and linguistic creativity were significant. Second, Abstractness of title were the best predictor of linguistic creativity in elementary school students.

A Study on the Effect of Reading Role Model, Reading Effectiveness on Academic Achievement of Middle School Student (독서역할모델 및 독서유효성이 중학생의 학업성취에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of reading role model (parents, teachers, and friends) and reading effectiveness (reading satisfaction, willingness to persistent reading, immersed reading) reflected on middle school students' academic achievement (Korean Language performance and middle school record). As a result of the analysis, the factors affecting the performance of Korean Language were father (1.9%) and mother (3.4%) among reading role models. Among reading effectiveness factors, willingness to persistent reading (8%) was the only effective factor. In the case of the middle school record, the mother (3.4%) had the only effect among the reading role models, and reading effectiveness was influenced all factors such willingness to persistent reading (10.4%), immersed reading (4.0%) and reading satisfaction (1.9%). However, except for the factor willingness to persistent reading, the it found the influence was insignificant.

The Effect of Private Tutoring Expenditures on Academic Performance: Evidence from Middle School Students in South Korea ('학교교육 수준 및 실태 분석 연구: 중학교' 자료를 이용한 사교육비 지출의 성적 향상효과 분석)

  • This paper examines the effect of private tutoring expenditures on academic performance of middle school students in South Korea, using data from "Analysis of the Level of School Education and Its Actual condition: Middle School". In the face of endogeneity of private tutoring expenditures, the paper employs an instrumental variable (IV) method and a nonparametric bounding method. Using both methods we show that the true effect of private tutoring on middle school students remains at most modest in Korea. The IV results suggest that a 10 percent increase in tutoring expenditure for Korean, English and math raises a student's test score of the subject at the largest by 1.24, 1.28, and 0.75 percent, respectively. The bounding results also fail to show evidence that an increase in tutoring expenditure leads to economically and statistically significant improvements in test score.

  • 사회과학분야에서 인자분석을 실시하는 경우 제1인자의 사전정의는 연구대상분야에서의 확립된 지식 또는 전제에 의해 나온다. 예컨대 고등학교 학생들을 대상으로 국어, 영어, 수학, 사회, 과학 등의 과목성적을 측정하여 인자분석을 하는 경우 사전적으로 제 1인자를 이 과목들의 단순평균에 의해 생성되는 일반지능으로 정의하는 것이 자연스럽다. 즉 다양한 사회과학분야에서 인지분석을 행함에 있어 선행 연구나 연구자의 사전지식 또는 가설 등에 의해 제1인자를 전제하는 경우 후속되는 나머지 인자를 자료에서 찾아냄으로써 인자분석을 완성하고자 하는 것이 본 연구의 기본 내용이다.

IA Relation between Social Status Type and Academic Achievement in the Upper Grade Students of the Elementary School (초등학교 고학년 학생의 사회적지위 유형과 학업성취도간의 관계)

  • This study examined the differences of academic achievement by social status types through sociometry. This study analyzed 201 students in grade 6 in S elementary school. The social status is classified by 7 (popular, average, rejected, aggressive-rejected, submissive-rejected, neglected, controversial) with academic achievement of each type as dependent variables to figure out the relation between social status types and academic achievement. To classify 5 social status types, a sociometry program developed by Ahn, Ie-Hwan (2007) was used, 2 social status types was classified with experimental condition, and its dependent variable was the score by subjects in the mid-term exam of the 1st semester in 2011. The average values of humanities courses (Korean and social studies) and natural science courses (math and science) were compared by both sexes and 7 social status types. The reference group was average group. As a result, as to male students, N type had the highest score both in humanities courses and natural science courses while C type had the lowest score in both groups. As to female students, P, N, C types had the highest score in both groups with similar range while R type had the lowest score in both groups. This result demonstrates that the academic achievement of students had relatively high relevance with social status. and also, suggestion that how teachers can do to enhance the academic achievement of elementary school students.

The improvement plan of course education and the recognition about the course&vocation of General high school student (일반계 고등학생의 진로 및 직업에 대한 인식과 진로교육 개선방안)

  • The purpose of this study is 1) to survey to identify how high school students think about career guidance and job and 2) to pursue effective career guidance. According to the survey result, first, most students have thought about their career. They chose friends as a counselor for their future. Among respondents, 39.84% of them said they did not consult with teachers. They said academic record is a stumbling block in choosing career. Second, many students responded career guidance should start at 'Junior High school'. 76.56% of respondents said they were lack of career guidance resources. With respect to career, an important subject was shown as the following order: social study, English, Korean, Science and Math. Third, students recognized the face that aptitude and ability should be the utmost important factors in choosing career. They chose mass media as a main source to gain information relative to career, which accounted for 52.34% and 20.31% for teachers. In the case of students who have rather 'poor'home background, teachers were the main sources for career information, whose proportion was relatively high. Forth, parents were the most influential people who helped students choose which high school to go(40.69%). In terms of scope of higher education, 65.63% said they wanted to graduate university. Students who has good academic records and good home environment wanted to pursue Master's or Doctor's degrees. 70.31% of respondents said they attended a high school just because they wanted to have a desired job.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the self-efficacy of gifted students in the area of sciences. For this purpose, The Self-efficacy Beliefs Inventory was administered to 220 5th and 6th gifted students and high achievers. The research findings were as follows; First, there was no statistically significant difference in the general, academic, self regulated learning, and others’ expectation self-efficacy beliefs between gifted students and high achievers as well as among groups of gifted students. Second, the gifted students in mathematics were higher than other groups in the mathematics self-efficacy beliefs. Third, the high achievers were higher than other groups in the language art self-efficacy beliefs. Fourth, the gifted students in mathematics were higher than other groups in mathematics self-efficacy beliefs. Fifth, the gifted students in science were higher than other groups in science self-efficacy beliefs. Sixth, the gifted students in IT were higher than other groups in computer self-efficacy beliefs. Seventh, the gifted students in IT were lower than other groups in social self-efficacy beliefs.

  • This thesis studied about the expression of the conflict in DongraeYaroo. Study perspective was time and passion. Time refers to a change in the time to move to the current from the past. As in the study was the change in the phase and values of the characters occurred. Passion is an act which is scheduled departing from the spirit moves the body. And the emotions move the human heart. And it was associated with the inner values that determine the ethical life. DongraeYaroo should ever criticize feudal era and values through the conflict with the changes in time. Through conflict with the realism tendencies and passions were melodramatic tendencies. DongraeYaroo is a folk masques of realism and melodramatic nature complex. DongraeYaroo has a part that is causing the conflict with the contents of the passion associated with the character's sexual desire is elsewhere. There are also distorted passions and inde normal expression of tragic passion passions that lead to death.

Law and Love in (<춘향전>에서의 법(法)과 사랑)

  • From the point of view of the law and public morals in Yi-dynasty, it is possible to discover new meanings in the love of Chunhyang and Mongryong-Lee, the conflicts between Chunhyang and Hakdo-Byeon, and the rescue of Chunhyang by Mongryong-Lee as a secret royal inspector. First, although the love of Chunhyang and Mongryong-Lee was against the law and public morals of Yi-dynasty, the narrator did not call to account, but he described the love as a romantic and new one conflicting with the ruling system. And it was an unprecedented case that Chunhyang asked a written contract as a legal guarantee for marriage when Mongryong-Lee courted her. Second, Hakdo-Byeon, the Namwon county governor, accused Chunhyang, a female entertainer of the Namwon county, of disobedience to his oder and contempt of him, and interrogated her with torture when she denied his demand for bed service which was prohibited by law. Chunhyang refuted against him and regarded his demand for bed service as the rape of a married woman. In this process, narrator sharply contrasted Chunhyang's claim for human rights with Hakdo-Byeon's legal administration. Characters such as people of Namwon county and king did not call Mongryong-Lee to account for that he, as a secret royal inspector, allegedly used his power privately to rescue his sweetheart Chunhyang from Hakdo-Byeon's illegal oppression. These different judgements on legal administrations of Hakdo-Byeon and Mongryong-Lee came from the legal emotion of characters and reading publics of . Namely, people who sympathized with Chunhyang's claim for love and human rights had the legal emotion that Mongryong-Lee's administrative order suspending Hakdo-Byeon's govenor's status could be approved as an legal and exciting one. Therefore the love of Chunhyang and Mongryong-Lee implied a new legal emotion which based on the sympathy with Chunhyang's human rights consciousness, and regarded the positive law of Yi - dynasty as one behind times.

The Historic and Mythical Meaning of the Korean Dynasty Cheoyong-ga(處容歌)'s Unclarified Passages (고려 <처용가> 미석명(未釋明) 구절의 역사·신화적 의미)

  • 1) The passage "Sila seongdae so-seongdae cheonha daepyeong nahu-deog (新羅盛(聖)代 昭盛代 天下大平 羅侯德)" of the Korean Dynasty , corresponds to the primary passage of Cheonyong Rang Manghaesa(처용랑 망해사)>. These passages are ironic expressions of King Heongang's reign. This passage can therefore be interpreted as having the meaning of "People talk about King Heongang who ruined the kingdom. The bright politics of Silla's loyalty is the virtue of King Heongang." 2) "Cheoyong aba isi insaeng-ae sangbuleo hasilandae isi insaeng-ae samjaepalnan-i ilsi somyeol hasyatda (處容 아바 以是人生애 相(常)不語시란 以是人生애 相(常)不語시란 三災八難이 一時消滅샷다)." This was said by Cheoyong(처용), who was unable to reveal his anger while witnessing his wife being raped by Yuk-sin(疫神). This passage means, "Father Cheoyong(처용), in this world if a man does not express anger about the absurdity of the world, he can escape from catastrophe," or, "Father Cheoyong (처용), because in this world you had not expressed anger about the absurdity of world, you could escape from catastrophe." 3) In "maa-man maa-man haniyeo sibi jegug-i moda jiseo syeon aeu cheoyongbi-hal maa-man haniyeo (마아만 마아만 니여 十二諸國이 모다 지 셰온 아으 處容아비 마아만 니여)," the most likely interpretation of Maa is "마아(麻兒)," which means "scarecrow." In this way, this passage emphasizes that Cheyong(처용) is not a scarecrow, but a representative of the eyes of all people in all kingdoms. 4) In "meoja oeyaja logliya ppallina nae singohal maeyara (머자외야자 綠李야 리나 내 신고 야라", meoja (머자) is the double arranging shape of meotda(멎다), and oeyaja(외야자) is the double arranging shape of oeda(외다); those characters mean "ugly" and "wrong for each other." Additionally, Rokri(綠李) can be regarded as an administrator in blue or black clothes who is performing an errand of the yuksin(疫神).
