A Teaching Model for Capstone Design Class in English Education (영어수업에서의 캡스톤디자인 수업 모델)

  • The purpose of this study is (1) to present a model for Capstone design class in English education, and (2) to recognize students' performance and perceptions about Capstone design class in English education. The participants were senior students majoring in English education. The Capstone design class model was developed, applied, and evaluated after changing 'English-American Culture' subject to 'Capstone Design for English-American Culture Education.' In this study, the class design, performance procedures, derived topics, and examples of performance outcomes were presented. The classes were also evaluated through an understanding evaluation of English-American culture, task performance and final outcome evaluation, a descriptive satisfaction assessment of students, a lecture evaluation, and a teacher's self-reflection assessment. As the result, the average score of a class that applies Capstone design was higher than that of a class that does not apply the Capstone design. There were many positive opinions regarding the Capstone design class. In addition, the teacher's self-reflection indicated that students should be exposed to such design from the beginning.

A Study on the Effect of Pro-Environmental Consumers on Environmental Education Utilizing Value-Attitude-Behavior Model (가치-태도-행동모델(VAB)을 활용한 친환경 소비자의 환경교육의 조절효과 연구)

  • This empirical study is to verify the moderating effects of environmental education on pro-environmental consumers. For this purpose, we used Value-Attitude-Behaviro Model(VAB). In addition, as an environmental education method, the environmental education method using 7 environmental movies by the multimedia with excellent learning effect in order to increase the interest and educational commitment of the learners was utilized. A total of 116 subjects were divided into experimental group and control group, and the experiment was designed based on Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design to grasp the effect of environmental education after conducting environmental education to the experiment group. The results of the analysis showed that environmental education had no effect on environmental values but it had a positive effect on improving the attitude and the pro-environmental behavior. This study proved that the sustainable environmental education could form pro-environmental behavior, even though the environmental sense of values had not been formed in adolescence, and furthermore, the earlier researches had been mainly focused on the effect of the environmental education for the adolescent.

The Automated Scoring of Kinematics Graph Answers through the Design and Application of a Convolutional Neural Network-Based Scoring Model (합성곱 신경망 기반 채점 모델 설계 및 적용을 통한 운동학 그래프 답안 자동 채점)

  • This study explores the possibility of automated scoring for scientific graph answers by designing an automated scoring model using convolutional neural networks and applying it to students' kinematics graph answers. The researchers prepared 2,200 answers, which were divided into 2,000 training data and 200 validation data. Additionally, 202 student answers were divided into 100 training data and 102 test data. First, in the process of designing an automated scoring model and validating its performance, the automated scoring model was optimized for graph image classification using the answer dataset prepared by the researchers. Next, the automated scoring model was trained using various types of training datasets, and it was used to score the student test dataset. The performance of the automated scoring model has been improved as the amount of training data increased in amount and diversity. Finally, compared to human scoring, the accuracy was 97.06%, the kappa coefficient was 0.957, and the weighted kappa coefficient was 0.968. On the other hand, in the case of answer types that were not included in the training data, the s coring was almos t identical among human s corers however, the automated scoring model performed inaccurately.

Design of Liberal Arts Subjects for Artificial Intelligence Education for Pre-Teachers in Elementary and Secondary Schools (초중등 예비교사의 인공지능 교육을 위한 교양 교과목 설계)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an AI liberal arts subject for pre-service teachers of all majors in elementary and middle school. To this end, the main areas of the AI curriculum, sub-themes for each week, and activities were specifically designed and verified through two rounds of Delphi by 13 experts. The AI liberal arts curriculum in this study consists of three areas. Then, detailed topics for each week were confirmed, and a total of 13 weeks were arranged according to the natural flow. It was intended to help teaching and learning by arranging learning activities based on the experiential learning model according to the learning content. It is expected that this study will be used as basic data for the development of various AI education subjects for pre-service teachers in elementary and secondary schools in the future.

  • 초고속 인터넷 망의 구축에 따라 정보통신 교육이 활성화에 힘입어 직.간접적으로 응용하기 위한 노력이 지속적으로 진행되어 왔다. 웹 기반 원격강의는 원거리 학습자들의 학습욕구를 자기 주도적인 학습이 되도록 전체적인 수업을 진행하므로 학습과정에서의 질의 응답을 교수자에게 면대면으로 제공하지 못하였다. 따라서 학습자가 요구한 질의 내용을 잘못 이해함에 따라 교수자가 학습과정에서의 피드백 제공을 하지 못함으로써 개인학습의 동기부여가 감소됨에 따라 흥미를 입게 되었다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 웹 기반 서비스에 대한 체계적인 분석 및 설계를 위해 네비게이션 모델을 통해 질의 응답을 지원하는 QALT(Question Answer Learning Tool)를 설계 및 구현한다. 원격강의는 웹 상에서 기본적인 컨텐츠를 제시하고 그를 통해 수업이 진행되는 과정에서의 질의 응답의 문제점을 개선하기 위해 일다대(One-To-Many)의 서비스를 제공한다. 또한. 학습자는 교수자가 지정한 교육용 서버를 통해 텍스트 형식이 아닌 강의자료로 쓰인 문서파일에 직접 작성하여 질의 응답을 가능하게 된다. 그로 인해 교수자와 학생간의 질의 응답을 통해 상호작용을 원활하게 할 수 있는 보조학습도구로써의 사용이 증가될 것이다. 또한 서버에서의 폴더 서비스와 메일링 서비스를 통해 실시간 질의 응답이 가능함으로써 학습자는 강의파일에서 그림에 관한 질문에 효과를 볼 수 있고 교수자는 질문 받은 내용의 위치를 시각적으로 쉽게 볼 수 있으므로 빠른 응답이 가능하게 될 것이다.

  • The purpose of this paper is to design improving electronic notetaking interface on pen-based learning contents. For this study, we apply requirement analysis which includes heuristic analysis, conceptual mapping, surveying, and derive the functional requirements. After functional requirements process, we design a persona, scenario, storyboard and wireframe. By making a paper prototyping from wireframe, maternalize the improving electronic notetaking interface, and assess the usability test. Through the assessment, compensate the defect and complete the design

  • IT education in the colleges or universities and IT industry in producing IT manpower are urgently called for to balance its supply and demand. To correct this problem, Ministry of Information and Communication launched a program where demand-oriented curriculums are developed and applied to colleges. This paper proposes a design technique based on meta-model and software development process in developing curriculums and courses. This meta-modeling technique is proven to result in the extendibility, flexibility and quality improvement in software design. Therefore, we expect that proposed technique makes it possible to be improved in quality.

Development of Cinenurducation Based on Kolb's Experiential Learning Model for Understanding Child Growth and Development (아동성장발달 이해를 위한 경험학습모델 기반 영화간호교육 개발)

  • Purpose: Nurse educators can use film effectively to promote nursing students' motivation and indirect experiences. The purpose of this study was to develop a teaching-learning design using films based on Kolb's experiential learning model for understanding of child growth and development, and to evaluate students' satisfaction with cinenurducation according to learning type and content. Methods: Participants were seventy-four first year nursing students in the spring semester of 2013 at a private university located in Busan. In each class, participants watched film, participated in peer-to-group discussion and an educator's lecture, and wrote a composition based on Kolb's four learning stages. After class, participants filled out a questionnaire developed by the researchers. Results: Results showed a high satisfaction with cinenurducation regardless of learning type and content concerning child growth and development. Advantages of cinenurducation included it being "fun and interesting," "helpful to understand the characteristics of children," and "develop critical thinking through discussions." Disadvantages included "length of time needed," and "burdensome." Conclusion: Films are advantageous in that they provide indirect experience for nursing students. Selection of appropriate films and evaluation of learning goal achievements are important to maximize the effectiveness of cinenurducation.

Korean Teachers' Conceptions of Models and Modeling in Science and Science Teaching (과학 탐구와 과학 교수학습에서의 모델과 모델링에 대한 교사들의 인식)

  • Science inquiry has long been emphasized in Korean science education. Scientific modeling is one of key practices in science inquiry with a potential to provide students with opportunities to develop their own explanations and knowledge thereafter. The purpose of this study is to investigate teacher's understanding of models in science and science teaching. A professional development program on Models (PDM) was developed and refined through three times of implementation while teachers' conceptions of models and modeling were examined. A total of 29 elementary and secondary teachers participated in this study. A survey based on model use of scientists in the history of science was developed and used to collect data and audio recordings of discussions among teachers and artifacts produced by the teachers during PDM were also collected. Three ways of ontological and two ways of epistemological understanding of models and modeling were found in teachers' ideas. After PDM, a quarter of the teachers changed their ontological understanding whereas very few changed their epistemological understanding. In contrast, more than two thirds of the teachers deepened and extended their ideas about using models and modeling in teaching. There were no clear relationships between teachers' understanding of models and ways and ideas about using models in science teaching. However, teachers' perceptions of school conditions were found to mediate their intention to use models in science teaching. The findings indicate possible approaches to professional development program content design and further research.

  • Distance education, which emerged under the influence of both the rapid development of hi-tech information technology and the constructivism theory of learning, enables learners to acquire knowledge and skills needed by monitoring their learning process for themselves. Emphasis on web-based distance education and contructivism as a basis of learner-centered education does not mean that those education systems are performed without teachers or in noninterference. This study proposes a model of distance education system in which learners are taught in various levels of learning with the help of teacher agents. In the model teacher agents produce the learners' respective learning model considering the information on individual learners and also control the progress to the next step of learning with the result of the evaluation of learning accomplishment. The model of distance education system suggested in this study is able to help solve the problem that the learning resources web-based distance education provides were used only as objects of web search and to supply a basis of realizing learner-centered education.
