  • The purpose of this study was to summarize the empirical literature on implementation of positive behavior support (PBS) within a multi-tiered system of supports in American and Korean schools and to compare its key features and outcomes in an attempt to suggest future directions for development of a Korean school-wide PBS model and implementation manuals as well as directions for future research. Twenty-four American articles and 11 Korean articles (total 35 articles) that reported the outcomes of implementation of PBS at a tier 1 and/or tier 2, or tier 3 level and that met established inclusion criteria were analyzed using systematic procedures. Comparisons were made in the areas of key features and outcomes of PBS in addition to general methodology (e.g., participants, design, implementation duration, dependent measures) at each tier of PBS. The results indicated that positive outcomes for student behavior and other areas were reported across tiers in all American and Korean studies. At the tier 1 level, teaching expectations and rules were the primary focus of PBS in American and Korean schools. However, Korean schools focused on modifying the school and classroom environments and teaching social skills whereas American schools focused on teacher training on standardized interventions or curricular by experts and teacher support during implementation of PBS. At the tier 2 level, more American studies reported implementation of tier 2 interventions within school-wide PBS, and Check/In Check/Out (CICO) was found to be the most commonly used tier 2 intervention. The results also indicated that in comparison to Korean schools, American schools were more likely to use systematic screening tools or procedures to identify students who need tier 2 interventions and more likely to promote parental involvement with implementing interventions. At the tier 3 level, more Korean studies reported the outcomes of individualized interventions, but more American studies reported that designing individualized intervention plans based on comprehensive functional behavior assessment results and establishment of systematic screening systems were focused when implementing individualized interventions. Furthermore, few Korean studies reported the assessment of procedural integrity, social validity, and contextual fit in implementing PBS across tiers, indicating the need for development of valid instruments that could be used in assessing these areas. Based on these results, limitations of the study and suggestions for future research are discussed.

  • As cases of social and ethical problems caused by artificial intelligence technology have occurred, artificial intelligence ethics are drawing attention along with social interest in the risks and side effects of artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence ethics should not just be known and felt, but should be actionable and practiced. Therefore, this study proposes an artificial intelligence ethics education model to strengthen the practical ability of artificial intelligence ethics. The artificial intelligence ethics education model derived educational goals and problem-solving processes using artificial intelligence through existing research analysis, applied teaching and learning methods to strengthen practical skills, and compared and analyzed the existing artificial intelligence education model. The artificial intelligence ethics education model proposed in this paper aims to cultivate computing thinking skills and strengthen the practical ability of artificial intelligence ethics. To this end, the problem-solving process using artificial intelligence was presented in six stages, and artificial intelligence ethical factors reflecting the characteristics of artificial intelligence were derived and applied to the problem-solving process. In addition, it was designed to unconsciously check the ethical standards of artificial intelligence through preand post-evaluation of artificial intelligence ethics and apply learner-centered education and learning methods to make learners' ethical practices a habit. The artificial intelligence ethics education model developed through this study is expected to be artificial intelligence education that leads to practice by developing computing thinking skills.

  • For the purpose of developing ‘Web-Based Nutritional Education Program’, this study did instructional analysis, analysis of entry behaviors and learner characteristics to select instructional contents for nutritional education program for junior/senior high school students. Survey questionnaires were distributed from October 21, 2002 to October 26, 2002 to a total of 564 junior/senior high school students in Seoul. The total number of questionnaires collected and used in our study was 479, which is 84.9% of the total questionnaires distributed. As a result of the curriculum analysis of ‘Technology-Home economics’, subjects related with ‘food and nutrition’ in the 7$^{th}$ educational course study result, lessons including the contents of food and nutrition were ‘nutrition and meal of adolescent’ in 7th grade, ‘family meal management’ in 9th grade and ‘practice of home life’ in 10th grade. According to the curriculum analysis, ‘nutrition’ and ‘food’ were chosen for the superior subjects of nutrition education program and four subordinate subjects per superior one were developed. Then, entry behaviors and learner characteristics were analyzed: life characteristics, internet usage, anthropometrics data and nutritional knowledge. Students were interested in using computer and preferred passive activity to dynamic activity. According. to the analysis of internet usage, WBI for students should composed active parts such as game, moving image, immediate reply and follow-up bye-mail, bulletin board and com- munity activity. Students’ BMI were in normal range but they were lacked nutritional knowledge. We wrote performance objectives that were specific behavior skills to be learned, the conditions under which they must be performed and the criteria for successful performance. The next step for developing the WBI nutrition education program would be based on the results mentioned above.

  • The aim of the study is to develop the Adolescent Anger Provocation Scale(AAPS) for Korean adolescents. In order to develop the scale, two research processes were conducted. First, a total of 130 items were derived from various related research. After analyzing 130 items by a research team(2 related field professors and 2 Ph.D. students), a total of 54 items reconstructed based on redundancy, cultural relevancy, and appropriateness. Second, a survey was administered among 252 Korean adolescents. After analyzing an exploratory factor analysis, 12 items of poor factor loading were deleted. Thus, seven factors and 42 items were extracted. Seven factors were as follows: (1) threat to self-esteem, (2) uncontrollable situations, (3) violation of personal property, (4) incidents associated with rejection, (5) violation of regulation or rules, (6) disrespectful treatment, (7) unfair treatment due to age. The internal consistency and convergence validity of the scale were supported. The results of confirmatory factor analysis were also reported. In addition, study limitations and recommendations of future research were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to shed light on the meaning and value of interest (in Korean 'Jae-mi') in science education through literature analysis. Literature analyses were conducted on literature related to interest in various fields such as Korean language, psychology, philosophy, and education. Specifically, this study discussed the meaning of interest, the characteristics of the context of experiencing interest, the educational value of interest in science education, and the direction of science education to realize the value of interest. First, it was found that interest is an experience of emotional activation that can be felt through interaction with a specific object, and it is an emotional experience caused by the complex combination of various psychological factors, which is oriented sense, relationship, self, and object. Second, to understand the context of experience of interest, we conducted a topic modeling analysis with 1173 research articles related to interest. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the context of interest is closely related with playfulness. And we addressed that this kind of playfulness is also found in science. Third, the educational values of interest in science education were discussed. In science education, fun is not only an instrumental value to induce science learning behavior, it is also one of the universal experiences that learners feel lively in science teaching-learning, and driving force of individual students' emotional development related to science. The students' active attitude to feel interest lead to creative thinking and action. Finally, we argued that the interest that should be aimed in science education should be active interest and experienced at trial and error, not passive interest induced by external stimuli. And science education culture should be encouraged to respect those who enjoy science. In particular, this study discussed the importance of each student's unique interest experience based on the philosophy of philosopher Deleuze (1976).

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the teaching-learning effects in the experimental classes for the 'Redox' unit of science textbook of 11th grade using self-regulated learning strategy. Simultaneously, the effects of teaching-learning through the student's characteristics of the scientific high school were also included. The experimental and the controlled groups were selected by the teaching-learning method established on self-regulated learning strategy and regular laboratory activity based on the teacher' instruction, respectively. The questionaries of the scientific inquiry and scientific attitude were examined by the student. For their achievement, the total score which was obtained from the formative evaluation and performance assessment was utilized. After the laboratory activity for the unit grounded on the self-regulated learning strategy, the mean values of the scientific inquiry, scientific attitude, and achievement by the experimental group were higher than those of the controlled group. There was significant difference between the two groups in the post-test. By the results of the post-test for the experimental group, there has been somewhat relationship between the self-regulated learning strategy and the scientific inquiry, the scientific attitude, and the scientific achievement.

  • This study was designed to identify the Attitude toward Engineering and Teacher Efficacy of pre-service teachers of engineering department, evaluate the validity of the difference and inquire into correlation between the Attitude toward Engineering and Teacher Efficacy. The study results are as follows. First, the Attitude toward Engineering of pre-service teachers of engineering department turned out to be 2.94, which is below average(3.00), and a bit lower figure than that of Teacher Efficacy(M=3.34). Second, there was no significant difference between the Attitude toward Engineering and Teacher Efficacy in a gender factor. In case of a major factor and grade variables, there was significant difference between Attitude toward Engineering and teaching efficacy of Teacher Efficacy. Third, as a result of analysis on the correlation between Attitude toward Engineering and Teacher Efficacy, it turned out that there was significant difference between in sub-area a few, which leads to conclusion that the attitude toward engineering and Teacher Efficacy will be gradually improved if educational institutes training pre-service teachers of engineering department operate teacher education courses considering major characteristics and learners' levels and give successful guidance to pre-service teachers. In addition, since the gender factor didn't make any significant difference between the attitude toward engineering and Teacher Efficacy, there is no need to develop and operate separate educational programs only for female or male pre-service teachers.
