'학교도서관이 교육환경개선의 중심이 되어야 합니다'

  • 교육계를 중심으로 사회전반에서 책읽기에 대한 관심이 고조되어 감에 따라 학교교육의 중심이라 할 수 있는 학교도서관이 교육환경개선에 있어서 어떤 역할을 할 수 있는지 살펴 보고자 “도서관문화”에서는 7월 28일(화) 우리 협회 회의실에서 ‘교육환경개선과 학교도서관’이라는 주제로 좌담회를 가졌다. 이번 좌담회에는 김경욱 전국교직원노동조합 정책기획실장, 박희 사서교사협의회장, 오명숙 어린이도서연구회 문화부장, 이병기 서울중등학교도서관연구회 연구부장이 참석하였으며, 사회와 원고정리는 우리 협회 이용훈 기회부장이 맡았다.

  • 일본 온라인 정보검색 그룹회는 1979년 10월에 설립된 정보검색 이용자 단체로 온라인상에서 제공되고 있는 정보를 어떻게 효율적으로 사용할 수 있는가를 연구하는 모임으로 정보검색에 관심이 있는 회사원과 공무원 등 대부분 연구, 조사 분야의 사람들이 회원으로 가입돼 있다. 특별히 검색교육을 위한 교사가 따로 구성되어 있는 것은 아니고 오랜 경험을 통해 터득한 관련 지식을 다른 회원들에게 가르쳐 주는 연구회의 성격을 가지고 있다.

Middle School Home Economics Teachers' Performance Conditions of Self Supervision Related to the Home Economics (중학교 가정과 교사의 교과 관련 자기장학에 대한 수행 실태)

  • The method used in this descriptive study is the survey. The purpose of the study is to investigate performances of middle school home economics(HE) teachers regarding the HE subject. Respondents in this study were 177 HE teachers. Questionnaires from HE teachers were collected through e-mails. With the operation of the SPSS/Win (ver10.1) program, the analyses such as mean, standard deviation, frequencies, percents, t-test and ANOVA are done to see the relations between the related variables. The results of this study were as follows. First, the middle school HE teachers performed well above the standards in terms of planning, execution, and evaluation about self supervision related to HE. Second, the HE teachers collected materials for instruction by using literary (books) survey, Internet and mass media. They mainly focused on improving ways of "teaching and learning" and deepening the studies related to contents of textbooks. Third, the HE teachers used various ways to improve self supervision in the following order: mass media, literary (books) survey, participation in societies for researches, meetings, various training and field trip More than half of the middle school HE teachers proceeded to graduate schools, joined meetings for researches and had experiences of taking classes in private institutes. They also made a field trip once or twice a year and depended much on TV programs and education broadcasting programs as ways of improving their performances related to self supervision. While they were actively sharing information with their peer group, they made little effort at analyzing and evaluating their classes and utilizing expert group for their classes. The main problems as to self supervision were that only the half of the HE teachers responded that they were performing self supervision related to their classes well above the standards and the area where they heavily focused on has been "teaching and learning" and "the studies related to contents of textbooks". Therefore, to motivate incentives of the HE teachers for self supervision, meetings for researches should be activated and various training programs should be developed. In addition, government should give administrative and institutional support through a publication of books introducing detailed ways of self supervision and an establishment of centers and institutions for supporting self supervision.

  • This study reviewed the structural and operational systems of two professional learning communities in Korean society and analyzed their strengths and weaknesses: the Association of Korean History Teachers and the Communities of Elementary School Classroom Management. In order to analyze these cases, Robey's organizational change model was used as a theoretical frame. Two research methods were mainly employed for this study: literature review and on-site interviews. The analysis found several strengths (easy accessibility, led by teachers' initiative and autonomous will, abundant and practical teaching solutions) and weaknesses (financial burden, lack of theoretical background, sporadic participants). In conclusion, this study suggests three strategies for an educational leader who has an important role in developing a teacher's professionalism: 1) Make an institutional effort to stimulate teachers' motivation to learn, 2) Create a strong network of university professors and other experts for career advice, 3) Build a synthesized and consolidated system.

The Difficulties Experienced by the Novice Elementary School Teachers in the Mathematics Classes (초등학교 초임교사들이 수학수업에서 겪는 어려움)

  • The purpose of this paper was to investigate the difficulties experienced by the novice elementary school teachers in the mathematics classes and suggest some implications for teacher education and effective adaptation of novice teachers. The researchers observed mathematics lessons of 6 novice elementary school teachers and interviewed on the difficulties that they experience in teaching mathematics. The data were collected by lesson observations, interviews, discussion and email communications and categorized the data the types of difficulties those the teachers experience. The difficulties were difference between theory and practice, explanation, questioning, differentiated lesson, application of teaching method, evaluation, and understanding of mathematics. The implication from this study is that novice teachers need to supported by the administration as well as actively participate at various types of educational meetings.

  • 문서분류기의 개발에 있어 교사학습기법을 이용할 경우 많은 양의 사람에 의한 범주 부착 말뭉치가 필요하다. 그러나 이의 구축은 많은 시간과 노력을 필요로 한다. 최근 이러한 범주 부착 말뭉치 대신 원시말뭉치와 범주마다 약간의 씨앗 정보를 이용하여 학습을 수행하여 문서분류기를 개발하는 방법론이 제시되었다. 본 논문에서는 이 방법론 하에서 다른 연구에서의 결과보다 좋은 성능을 나타내는 비교사 학습 기법을 소개한다. 본 논문에서 제시하는 기법의 특징은 씨앗 단어에서 출발하여 평균상호정보를 이용하여 다른 대표단어 및 그들의 가중치를 학습한 다음, 정보검색에서 많이 사용하는 기술을 이용하여 그 가중치를 갱신하는 것이다. 그리고 이 과정을 반복 수행하여 최종적으로 높은 성능의 시스템을 개발할 수 있음을 제시하였다.

The Subjective Perception on the Job Contents of Educare Teachers (보육교사의 직무에 대한 인식 유형)

  • The purpose of this study is analyzing newly the role of the educare teachers by finding the teachers' subjective perception on their duty and understanding its feature. With the research, I'd like to present the fundamental materials for re-training and education for specialty. I Q-sorted 17 teachers based on the 36 statements which had been selected carefully. The results are following. The first type is the teacher who is aiming the specialized education. The teacher of this type needs to have the comprehensible knowledge on the child-development and seeks the teacher's specialty with self-supervision and study group. The second type is the teacher who is pursuing safety and protection for the children. The teacher of this type considers safety and cleanness very important and thinks that he or she should take care of the children by the cooperation with parents. The third type is the teacher who is heading for everyday's life and improvement. He or she thinks that teaching the child daily life is significant and by it, the child should grow up. The results of the research show us 3 points. The first, we need to re-design training program for the educare teachers. The second, we should prepare the manual for the teachers in accordance with the infants' growing-up. The third, we should understand the teacher's type and train him or her in accordance with the type.

Analysis of Beginning Technology Teacher's Perception for Free Semester Program Class (자유학기제 수업에 대한 초임 기술 교사들의 인식 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide a basic research data for increasing the satisfaction by analyzing perception of middle school beginning technology teachers 'technology home economics' class for free semester program. In order to investigate the class operation status, the survey questionnaires from 100 teachers were collected from middle school beginning teachers who teach technology home economics subject currently and analyzed by statistical program(SPSS ver.18). The main results of this study were as follows: First, there was no statistically significant difference to contents and satisfaction of lesson between teachers who experienced free semester program and not. In comparison of male teachers and female teachers, male teachers thought that free semester program was more helpful for student's 'career exploration' than female teachers, and there was statistically significant difference. Second, in the teacher's response according to have practice space and not, the satisfaction average of teachers who have practice space was higher(M=3.64) than those who have not at 'career exploration' and there was statistically significant difference satisfaction. Third, among the teachers who have experienced free semester program, male teachers were having more difficulty 'determining the assessment criteria' than the female teachers and there was statistically significant difference. Fourth, to improve the satisfaction of technical lesson, technology teachers asked to solve lack of practice material, increase of lesson-time, lack of practice space and lesson contents etc. Fifth, technology teachers asked free semester program seminars and information because free semester program lesson contents was given by internet and research groups of technology education.

Investigation on the Status of Information Literacy Instruction in School Libraries (학교도서관 정보활용능력 교육의 현황 분석)

  • To measure the state of instructional programs in school libraries revitalized by the MEST project, teacher-librarians who are members of a provincial library education research committee were asked to respond to a survey and phone interview. The results illustrate that both teacher-librarians and classroom teachers lack a comprehensive understanding of information literacy(IL), and that information literacy instruction(ILI) was implemented in less than half of the surveyed schools. Even in those schools where ILI was implemented, the curriculum was underdeveloped, frequently consisting of little more than basic library orientation programs. The lack of understanding regarding ILI by classroom teachers was specified as a major barrier.

A Phenomenological Study on Earth Science Teachers' Experiences of Astronomical Observation Activities (지구과학 교사의 천체 관측 활동 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구)

  • In this study, we explored the meaning of astronomical observation activities of five earth science teachers through in-depth interviews. Semi-structured interviews were conducted after providing a questionnaire based on Seidman's three-step process of interview. By analyzing the interview transcript, the educational implications inherent in astronomical observation activities were extracted. Teachers have constructed systematic basis of observation and astronomy in the observational astronomy and laboratory class during their course in the teacher education institute. After they became in-service teachers, practical know-hows of astronomical observation activities in schools were developed with the help of colleagues. By designing and executing astronomical observation activities for students, teachers notice positive changes in the cognitive domain, affective domain, and career perception of the students. Hence, teachers consider that astronomical observation activities have great educational effects. In addition, astronomical activities appear to be very rewarding and satisfying experiences to teachers, by providing opportunities for having pride as an earth science teacher. However, teachers tend to find difficulties in operating astronomical observation activities in fields, due to both internal and external obstacles. It is found that the removal of internal obstacles is more important for teachers to attempt or to continue astronomical observation activities. In this sense, it is necessary to support teachers by providing timely training courses with related content, as well as opportunities to share their experiences within a peer group such as teachers' research society.
