The Effects of Teacher's Background Variables and Teacher Efficacy on Elementary School Teacher's Instructional Behavior in Student-Participatory Class (학생 참여형 수업에서 교사 배경변인과 교사효능감이 초등교사의 수업행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide research results on how teacher background variables and teacher efficacy affect the teacher's instructional behavior of elementary school teachers in student participatory classes. A survey was conducted on 122 elementary school teachers in the G area and a regression analysis was conducted to analyze the relationship of influence between variables. As a result of the regression analysis, self-regulation efficiency and task difficulty preference had a significant impact on elementary teachers' instructional behavior. As for teaching knowledge, class motivation, which are sub-variable factors in class behavior, self-regulating efficacy had a higher influence than task difficulty preference and for class communication, task difficulty preference had a higher influence than self-regulating efficacy. Based on the results of the study, we considered ways to show desirable teaching behavior of elementary school teachers in student participatory classes.

  • 본 연구는 SW교육 기초연수를 수강하는 SW교육 초급교사의 SW교육 교수효능감을 측정하고, 그 현황을 파악하여 이를 바탕으로 수강자의 SW교육 교수효능감을 신장시킬 수 있는 연수를 기획 및 수행하는 기초자료를 마련하고자 수행되었다. 연구 결과 SW교육 기초연수에 참가한 교사의 SW교육 교수효능감 중에서 교사 자신의 교수능력에 대한 개인적 판단인 개인효능 영역에서 연령, SW교육 경험에 따라 큰 차이가 존재함을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 SW교육 기초연수에서 5년 미만의 저경력 또는 20년 이상의 고경력 교사와 SW교육 경험이 전혀 없는 교사의 개인효능을 향상할 수 있는 방법을 고민하고 이를 연수에 반영할 필요가 있다는 시사점을 도출하였다.

A Study on the Relationship between Self-Leadership and Teacher-Expertise in Kindergarten Teachers: Focusing on the Mediating Effect of the Teachers' Self-efficacy (유치원교사의 셀프리더십과 교사전문성의 관계: 교사효능감의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between self-leadership of teachers who conduct free-selection activities in kindergartens. In addition, we analyze the mediating effect of teacher self-efficacy. This study was conducted using data gathered through a survey conducted on 325 kindergarten teachers in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do areas from September 17 to 28, 2018. To analyze the data, the author used SPSS Statistics 22.0 and AMOS 20.0 programs to conduct reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling. The result of the verification of the hypothesis showed that self-leadership of kindergarten teachers who engaged in free-selection activities positively influenced self-efficacy. Self-leadership of teachers who employed free-selection activities had a positive effect on the expertise of teachers as well. Also, self-efficacy of kindergarten teachers positively affected expertise of these teachers. In addition, the self-leadership of kindergarten teachers mediated self-efficacy, so that the indirect effect on teacher expertise was statistically significant. Also, the direct effect of self-leadership on expertise of teachers was significant, which showed that the self-efficacy of the kindergarten teachers indirectly mediated the relationship between self-leadership and expertise of the teachers. This study showed that to enhance expertise of kindergarten teachers, this requires enhancing self-leadership of teachers. Also, in order to enhance the level of self-efficacy of teachers, necessary knowledge and skills that can enhance self-efficacy of these teachers in their working environment should be provided. In addition, someone who can play the role of active facilitator or helper is needed in order to enhance expertise of these teachers.

Analysis of Elementary School Teachers' Efficacy on Mathematics Teaching (초등학교 교사들의 수학 교수 효능감 실태 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is for investing and analysing elementary teachers' efficacy on teaching mathematics. It was measured by Kang & Kim(2014)'s instrument; MTEI (Mathematics Teaching Efficacy Instrument). The survey was conducted on a sample of 183 participants. The findings of this study are that mathematics teaching efficacy of elementary school teachers in South Korea is 64 percent based on 100 percent. There was no significant difference between women teachers and men teachers. Teachers who have taught longer than 5 years and less than 10 years have the lowest mathematics teaching efficacy. Teachers who were major in Mathematics have higher mathematics teaching efficacy than non-major in Mathematics. In addition, chances of training about mathematics make their efficacy higher.

The Influence of Career, Burnout, and Play-teaching Efficacy on the Job Satisfaction of Childcare Teachers (보육교사의 경력 및 소진과 놀이교수효능감이 직무만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of career, burnout, and play-teaching efficacy on the job satisfaction of childcare teachers. Participants of this study were 201 childcare teachers in work-site daycare centers from the Seoul and Kyonggi areas. Collected data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA, Pearson's product moment correlation, and multiple regression with SPSS ver. 13.0. Major results of this study were as follows. First, there were significant differences in total play-teaching efficacy and total job satisfaction according to childcare teacher's career. Second, there were significant positive correlations between childcare teachers' career and their play-teaching efficacy, and between childcare teachers' play-teaching efficacy and their job satisfaction. Also, there were significant negative correlations between childcare teachers' career and their burnout, between childcare teachers' burnout and their play-teaching efficacy, and between childcare teachers' burnout and their job satisfaction. Finally, the most powerful predictor on job satisfaction was burnout. Further, childcare teachers' burnout, play-teaching efficacy, and career explained their job satisfaction. This study primarily suggests that efforts heightening childcare teachers' play-teaching efficacy as well as reducing their burnout according to their career is important in enhancing their job satisfaction.

The Longitudinal Effect of the Creative-Fostering Program for Pre-early childhood Teacher on their Problem Solving Ability and Self-Efficacy (예비유아교사를 위한 창의성교육 프로그램이 문제해결능력 및 자기효능감에 미치는 영향에 대한 단기종단연구)

  • The aim of this study was to examine the short-term longitudinal effect of creativity-fostering programs for pre-early childhood teachers on their problem solving ability and self-efficacy. The participants of this study were 67 pre-early childhood teachers (36 from the experimental group and 31 from the control group) in Seoul, Kyunggi-do, and Chungcheong-do, Korea. Pre-early childhood teachers' problem solving ability and self-efficacy was measured three times. Data were analyzed with a $2{\times}3$ ($group{\times}test$) two-way analysis of variance for repeated measures. The change in problem solving and self-efficacy appeared to be dependent on the group and test. Further statistical analysis of the data indicated that the participation of creativity-fostering programs for pre-early childhood teachers was longitudinally effective on their problem solving ability and self-efficacy.

The Influences of Teachers' Self-leadership and Principals' Leadership on Teachers' Efficacy (민간 어린이집 교사가 지각하는 셀프리더십과 원장 리더십이 교사효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of directors' leadership and teachers' self leadership on teachers' efficacy. The participants were 217 teachers in private day care centers. LBDQ (Halpin, 1967), RSLQ (Houghton & Neck, 2002), and a teachers' efficacy questionnaire (Kim & Lee) were used. The data collected were analyzed by SPSS 18.0. The results of this study were as follows: First, teachers cognized that directors' leadership was very high. Second, directors' leadership was clustered by 4 types: human oriented, task oriented, leader and deficient type. And, teachers' efficacy was clustered by 4 types: leader, restricted, compensated and task oriented type. Third, directors' task oriented leadership, human oriented leadership, and teachers' self leadership (self punishment, self-goal setting, self observation and self esteem) affected teachers' efficacy. And directors' human oriented leadership and teachers' self leadership (self punishment and self-goal setting) affected teachers' personal efficacy.

The Differences in Teacher Efficacy According to the Perception and Practices of Peers' Supervision in Day Care Center (어린이집 동료장학의 인식과 실태에 따른 교사효능감의 차이)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to find out any differences in teacher efficacy according to the perception and practices of the peers' supervision in day care centers, and to improve the effectiveness of teachers and the quality educare. Methods: The subjects were 301 teachers at daycare centers in Gyeonggi Province who are working at public, private, workplace and home daycare centers. The instruments used were questionnaire concerning the perceptions and practices of peers' supervision in day care centers, and the teacher efficacy instrument. Results: The differences in teacher efficacy according to the perception of peers' supervision were significant, depending on the level of perception, willingness to participate, need and satisfaction, and sub-area of the main view. And, the differences in teacher efficacy according to the practices of peers' supervision were significant, depending on the numbers received, gave and implementated, the implementators, and the type of peers' supervision. Conclusion/Implications: This can be a clear benefit for stimulating peer's supervision. This study can greatly benefit the quality of day care service and improve teacher's professionalism.

A Study on Pedagogical Content Knowledge(PCK) and Teaching Efficacy of Prospective Home Economics Teachers (예비 가정과 교사의 교수내용지식(PCK)과 교수 효능감 관련 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the pedagogical content knowledge(PCK) and teaching efficacy levels of prospective Home Economics teachers. Also of interest were the relationship between PCK and teaching efficacy, as well as the personal factors that influence PCK and teaching efficacy. A survey was administered to students majoring in Home Economics in colleges of education or graduate schools of education in South Korea, and a total of 202 complete responses were analyzed. The prospective Home Economics teachers showed moderately low levels of PCK and teaching efficacy. Among the PCK subcategories, the mean score for content knowledge was the highest, those for expression knowledge and environmental situation knowledge were the lowest. Expression knowledge and content knowledge showed significant effects on teaching self-efficacy, and expression knowledge and environmental situation knowledge on teaching result expectation. As for students' personal characteristics, years in college showed significant effect: Sophomores were the highest in PCK and teaching efficacy levels. Also, those who plan to become Home Economics teachers showed significantly lower levels of PCK and teaching efficacy perception than those who do not. Besides, the more basic required courses they took, the lower their perception of PCK or teaching efficacy. This study suggests that teacher education programs should develop a program that can enhance prospective teachers' teaching efficacy by providing advice and assistance to those students who plan to become teachers, and more hands-on opportunities to practice teaching.

The Effects of Emotional Intelligence on Happiness among Early Ehildhood Teachers: The Mediating Effects of Job Stress and Teaching Efficacy (영유아교사의 정서지능이 행복감에 미치는 영향: 직무스트레스 및 교사효능감의 매개효과)

  • This study examined the effects of emotional intelligence, teaching efficacy and job stress on happiness among early childhood teachers. Data were collected from 246 early childhood teachers. To collect the data, emotional intelligence, teaching efficacy, job stress, and happiness instruments were used. All research variables were measured using self-reported questionnaires, and were analyzed with one-way ANOVA, t-test, Pearson's correlation and pathway analysis. The results indicated teachers' happiness had no difference by demographic variables. Emotional intelligence had a direct effect and an indirect effect through teaching efficacy and job stress on happiness among early childhood teachers. Teaching efficacy and job stress had a direct effect on happiness among early childhood teachers. Additionally, emotional intelligence was the most important variable predicting early childhood teachers' happiness. Teaching efficacy and job stress had a mediating effect between emotional intelligence and happiness.
