Nutrient Load Balance in Large-Scale Paddy Fields during Rice Cultivation (경지 정리된 광역 논에서 영양물질 수지와 배출 특성)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the load of nutrient from paddy fields. Water management practices that can reduce eutrophication and meet water quality requirements will also be addressed. Continuous monitoring from May to September in 2002 and 2003 was conducted for water quantification and qualification at the intensive paddy fields in Icheon, Gyunggi province of Korea. Water balance and concentration variation of nitrogen and phosphorus in the water were independently compared for water quality assessment at each rice cultivation period. Rice land preparation and transplanting periods usually marked the highest water demand when compared to other periods of cultivation. Overall, a greater net irrigation ratio was observed during the transplanting period in 2002 (92.3%) and 2003 (87.2%). The measured total N loads of precipitation, irrigation, drainage, and percolation during the rice cultivation period were 9.9, 41.6, 22.1, and $5.5kg\;ha^{-1}$ for 2002 and 15.8, 55.4, 17.3, and $7.5kg\;ha^{-1}$ for 2003, respectively. The measured total P loads of precipitation, irrigation, drainage, and percolation during the rice cultivation period were 2.1, 13.0, 3.6, and $1.8kg\;ha^{-1}$ for 2002 and 1.6, 15.0, 5.0, and $1.2kg\;ha^{-1}$ for 2003, respectively. Daily nutrient load followed the pattern of surface drainage water, but this pattern was changed by rainfall events. The nutrient load in drainage water depends on rainfall and surface drainage water amount from the paddy fields. Interestingly, the load of total N and total P output was smaller than the input load due to the natural infiltration that Occurred during the rice cultivation period. It is concluded that the paddy fields have a beneficial effect on the ecosystem and can reduce eutrophication in the water.

Effect of Controlled Water Level for Irrigation Constraint on Growth of the Rice Plant (수위조절(水位調節)에 의(依)한 관개수(灌漑水)의 제한공급(制限供給)이 포트재배수도(栽培水滔)의 생육(生育)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • In order to understand the effect of irrigation constraint on the growth and yield of the rice plant. two rice cultivars. Samnambyeo and Chucheongbyeo. were cultured in the pot controlled with different water levels: + 2 cm-submergence, and -17cm, -37cm, -57cm, -77cm, -97cm, -120cm, and -145cm depth from soil surface. 1. Among differently irrigated conditions, submerged condition was the best in growth and yield of both Samnambyeo and Chucheongbyeo. Yield and growth of rice decreased linearly with lowering the water level in sequence. 2. Samnambyeo appeared to be more drought resistant cultivar than Chucheongbyeo. It was regarded that physiologically critical water level on rice yield was about 70cm depth in Samnambyeo and 50cm depth in Chucheongbyeo. 3. The earliest heading date of the rice plant was from submergence condition and the head ing date was linearly delayed with lowering water level in sequence. The heading date of Samnambyeo was about 10days earlier than that of Chucheongbyeo at the same water level.

The Study on the Effects of the Economical Use of Irrigation Water by Different Irrgation Periods and Its Methods on the Growth, Yield and the Factors of Rice Plants. (절수의 시기 및 방법의 차이가 수도생육 수량과 기타 실용형태질 미치는 영향)

  • Higher yield in rice paddies is greatly dependent on adequately balanced and timely supply of water. A majority of rice paddy in Korea is generally irrigated by rainfall, but in many cases it has to be supplemented by artificial irrigation for optimum rice culture. Although the water requirement of rice plant is far higher than that of other crops, submerged condition of rice paddy is not necessarily required. The moisture requirement of rice plant varies with its growing stages, and it is possible to increase the irrigation efficiency through reduction of water loss due to percolation in rice paddies. An experiment was conducted on the effectiveness of economical use of water by different irrigation period and different method of cultivation. The experimental plots were set up by means of randomized block design with three duplications; (a) Alltime submerged (b) Economically controlled, and (c) Extremely controlled. Three different irrigation periods were (a) Initial stage (b) Inter-stage, and (c) last stage. The topsoil of the three plots were excavated to the depth of 30cm and then compacted with clay of 6 cm thickness. Thereafter, they were piled up with the excavated top soils, leveled and cored with clay of 6cm thickeness arround footpath in order to prevent leakage. The results obtained frome the experiments are as follows; (1) There is no difference among the three experiment plots in terms of physical and chemical contditions, soil properties, and other characteristics. (2) Colulm length and ear length are not affected by different irrigation methdos. (3) There is no difference in the mature rate and grain weight of rice for the three plots. (4) The control plot which was irrigated every three days shows an increased yield over the all the time submerged plot by 17 persent. (5) The clay lined plot whose water holding capacity was held days long, needs only to be irrigated every 7 days. (6) The clay lined plot showes an increased yield over the untreated plot; over all the time submerged plot by 18 percent, extremely controlled plot by 18 percent, and economically controled plot by 33 percent.

Studies on the Effects of Various Methods of Rotation Irrigation System Affecting on The Growth, Yield of Rice Plants and Its Optimum Facilities (수환관개방법의 차이가 수도생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향과 그 적정시설에 관한 연구)

  • This experiment was conducted, making use of the 'NONG-RIM No, 6' a recommended variety of rice plant for the year of 1969. Main purpose of the experiment are to explore possibilities of; a) ways and means of saving irrigation water and, b) overcoming drought at the same time so that an increaded yield in rice production could be resulted in Specifically, it was tried to determine the effects of the Rotation Irrigation method combined with differentiated thickess of Lining upon the growth and Yield of rice production. Some of the major finding are summarized in the follows. 1) The Different thicknesses show a significant relationship with the weight of 1000 grains. In the case of 3cm Lined plot, the grain weight is 39.0 Grams, the heaviest. Next in order is 6 cm lined plnt, 5 day control plot, 6 day control plot. 2) In rice yield, it is found that there is a considerably moderate signicant relationship with both the different thickness of lining and the number of irrgation, as shown in the table No,7. 3) There is little or no difference among different plot in terms of; a) physical and chemical properties of soil, b) quality of irrgation water, c) climatic condition, and rainfalls. 4) It is found that there is no significant relationship between differences in the method of rotation irrgation and the number of ears per hill because of too much rainydays and low temperature during irrigation season. 5) In uyny1-treated plots, it is shown that there is on difference among different plots, but the irrigation water requirement saved as much as 1/2 to actual irrigation water compare to uncontroled plot. 6) The irrigation water requirement for 48 days is saved as much 67% compared to uncontroled plot, the order are; the 9cm lined plot, the plot of vinyl with no hole, the plot with a hole of $1cm/m^2$ as shows in fig 15. 7) The rate of percolation of 40-30mm/day is decreased to 30-20/day. It is found that the decreasad rate of percolation due to vinyl-cutoff in footpath. 8) The growing condition was fine, and there was no found that decease and lageing as always submerged plot. 9) It is found that it must be constructed irrigation and drainage system, inlet and outlet perpect, respectly, of which could be irrigation water saved and would be inereased the irrigation water temperature.

The effect of restricted fluid intakes in the first week of life on the risk of bronchopulmonary dysplasia and patent ductus arteriosus in very low birth weight infants (극소저출생체중아에서 생후 첫 주의 제한적 수액투여가 기관지폐이형성증과 동맥관개존증 발생에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose : We investigated the effects of restricted fluid in the first 7 days of life on the risk of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) or patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. Methods : Eighty three VLBW infants who lived more than 28 days were selected. The amount of daily maintenance fluid was determined by calculation of insensible water loss (IWL) and urine output (UO). Seventy to 80 percent of calculated amount was given to the ventilated infants. Subjects were grouped into low (<25th%), moderate (25-75th%), and high (>75th%) fluid groups for the first 24 hours, 3 days and 7 days. Chi square tests analyzed proportions of subjects with or without morbidities across fluid groups. Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the effect of fluid intake on BPD or PDA, controlling for factors that are significantly associated with BPD or PDA by univariate analysis. Results : Rates of BPD and PDA were not significantly associated with fluid groups on each time period. The result was the same after controlling for factors that are significantly associated with BPD or PDA by univariate analysis. For the first 3 and 7 days, fluid intakes were positively related with maximal weight loss, urine output and mechanical ventilation duration. Conclusion : In VLBW infants, when given based on needs reflected from IWL and UO versus intake, relatively low fluid intakes in the first week of life do not decrease the risk of BPD or PDA, and vice versa. We suggest that calculation of daily fluid based on IWL and UO is appropriate for VLBW infants.

Assessment and Prediction of Agricultural Drought Utilizing Real Time Reservoir Storage Level (실시간 저수위를 활용한 농업가뭄평가 및 전망)

  • 농업가뭄은 강수의 부족으로 인하여 농업용 저수지의 저수량 저하로 농작물 생육 및 수확량의 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로, 농업가뭄평가는 강수량뿐만 아니라 작물의 생육시기별 필요수량과 용수공급능력을 모두 고려할 수 있어야 한다. 농업가뭄관리의 주요 대상인 논벼는 기본적으로 수원공과 관개지역 사이의 물수지를 판단함으로써 농업가뭄의 위험을 정의할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 가뭄관리가 필요한 농업용 저수지 관개지구의 농업가뭄 평가를 위해 논 물수지 분석 모형과 저수지 물수지 분석 모형을 구성하고, 용수수급해석의 결과로부터 가뭄의 크기를 객관화하고 가뭄의 단계를 평가할 수 있도록 빈도개념을 적용한 저수지가뭄지수 (Reservoir Drought Index, RDI)를 이용하여 농업가뭄을 분석 평가하였다. 또한 농업용 저수지의 저수량 모의치와 실시간 저수위를 이용하여 경험적으로 농업용 저수지의 유입량을 자동으로 보정하여 장기적으로 최적화할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였으며, 과거 유효강수량을 시기별로 나누어 빈도분석을 통해 농업가뭄대응을 위한 가뭄 기상시나리오를 사용하여 향후 가뭄의 여러 가지 패턴에 따른 농업가뭄을 전망하였다. 이러한 다양한 시나리오를 통해 실제 물 관리 및 가뭄대책 업무에 반영하고 농업가뭄대응책 수립 및 농업수자원관리의 의사결정을 수립하는데 기초자료가 될 것으로 판단된다.

  • This paper is about assessment of soil loss in irrigation reservoir based on GIS. Natural disaster caused by soil loss whose natural incidence has been rapidly reduced due to successful tree planting campaign shows high potential risk, since the latest localized heavy rain resulted from extreme weather event and artificial land development acts as direct factors for land disaster. To prevent it, various techniques and technologies have been used to predict effect of soil loss. However, reliability of techniques and technologies to predict its effect precisely is relatively low so far because the natural disaster by soil loss is taken place by complicated interaction between possible factors and direct factors. Geospatial approach is essential to examine these interactions. In this regard, this study will provide detailed plan to improve prediction reliability for soil loss of irrigation reservoir, using GIS that has Hydrologic -Topographical parameter and digital map as its input parameters.

Analysis of Characteristics for Runoff Variation Considering Irrigation Area of Each Irrigation Facilities (수리시설물별 관개면적을 고려한 유출변화특성분석)

  • This study was conducted to promote reliability of the simulated result for the long-term streamflow in Daecheong watershed. This system was constructed by the SSARR model that considered the effect of small scale irrigation facilities. We investigated the present condition of small scale irrigation facilities and analyzed the relation between irrigation facilities and river discharge. According to the analysis result about the effect of irrigation facilities, the error occurrence frequency was increased at the sub-basin that has many reservoirs and during the second quarter except for the 2003 year. Therefore, we created the relative equation between small irrigation facilities and river water and estimated the simulated streamflow for the main stations. Consequently, error of the runoff simulated with considering small scale irrigation facilities was decreased than that without considering small scale irrigation facilities at all.

  • In order to find the interaction between phosphorus and nitrogen effects during low temperature treatment, experiments of rice planted late at low water temperature were conducted and the following results were obtained. As the application of phosphorus increased, the soluble nitrogen content in the rice plants was decreased, while the degree of ripening was improved, especially when the application of nitrogen increased. When the heading was promoted due to high temperature, degree of ripening was improved. The number of spikelets increased due to the increased application of nitrogen fertilizers, and then The effects of phosphorus application on the improvement of ripening was less apparent.

  • 하수처리수의 농업용수 재이용 사업은 물 재이용 기본계획의 일환으로 수행되고 있다. 재이용방식은 직접재이용과 간접재이용으로 구분할 수 있으며 2020년까지 56개 하수처리시설에서 총 106,388 천$m^3$/년의 농업용수를 직접재이용할 계획이다. 하지만 대부분의 경우 간접재이용의 형식으로 하수처리수를 농업용수로 이용하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 하수처리수의 농업용수 간접재이용에 따른 작물생육, 수질, 그리고 토양환경에 미치는 영향을 평가하는데 있다. 본 연구를 위해 수원시 환경사업소와 오산시 환경사업소 하류 지역을 간접재이용 사례지구로 선정하고, 용인 이동저수지를 관개용수로 하는 청정지역을 대비구로 선정하였다. 각 지구별로 수량 구성요소 및 수확량 특성, 그리고 벼의 영양염류 및 중금속 함량 등의 유해성분을 분석하였으며, 관개수질과 논토양의 성분을 모니터링 하였다. 모니터링 결과를 통해 간접재이용 사례지구의 환경영향을 평가하여 수질기준을 정립하고 간접재이용시스템을 개발하는데 있어 기초적인 자료를 제공할 것이라 사료된다.
