The purpose of this study was to analyze intellectual characteristics of elementary students in science-gifted education. For this, 72 science-gifted students were selected. Multiple intelligences, creativity, and the science process skills of these students were tested. To compare these traits with those of general students, 78 general students were also tested. The results of this study indicated that science-gifted students significantly surpassed general students in the areas of logical-mathematics, intra-person, and naturalist. Especially, the intelligences of logical-mathematics and intra-person were strong point of the science-gifted students. But music intelligence among the 8 intelligence was weak point. Creativity and the science process skills of the students in science-gifted education excelled those of general students. Therefore, to enhance the efficiency of the science-gifted education program in elementary school, it is necessary to consider the intellectual characteristics of the students.
The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of convergence gifted education program for science-physical education on self-efficacy of the gifted students in elementary school. So, the program was carried out for the gifted students in the 5th grade of elementary school during the 8 hours on two subjects, we investigated the cause and effect through the pre-post test of self-efficacy and interview. The results were as follows. First, it was observed that it would have a meaningful effect to improve the self-efficacy of gifted students who performed gifted education program for science-physical education convergence. Especially, the results of 'confidence', 'difficulty preferences' was statistic meaningful differences. Second, convergence gifted education program for science-physical education enhanced confidence and challenge of consciousness of students. Especially, when products of gifted students are applied to real-world valued the higher confidence. Therefore, we found that in order to increase the gifted students' self-efficacy, gifted education program is configured by applying the products to the actual field.
One of main purposes to educate gifted/talented science students is to express their giftedness. Most of all, it is necessary to examine thoughts of gifted/talented students including a challenge and preparation of it, because their perception of science and scientists can affect on way of thinking, study course or occupation. To investigate this, we studied on the perception of science gifted/talented students toward Nobel science prize. They have lower possibility of Korean scientists' winning Nobel science prize, but they think when they grow up adult they can win it. And most of them have a challenge of winning Nobel prize. It is necessary to study educational stimuli and strategies for gifted/talented students to prosper a challenge of science.
The purposes of this study are to investigate Korean mathematics & science teachers' perception on the special education for the gifted, and to investigate if there are differences on their perception about it among the mathematics & science teachers when their affiliation institutes for the gifted are different. Their affiliation institutes for the gifted education are divided into two groups, which are the city office of education, and science high school. The research problems of this study are as follows. Firstly, are there any differences of their perception according to their affiliation institutes for the gifted education are divided into two groups, which are the city office of education, science high school? Secondly, are there any differences of their perception according to their affiliation institutes for the gifted education are divided into two groups, which are the mathematics teachers, science teachers? For the study, 26 mathematics teachers & 36 science teachers were sampled from the Institutes for the Gifted Education in Busan Metro-city & the Busan Science High School. and then 34-item-questionnaire developed by the author was administered to them. The research results are as follows. Firstly, the question as to participation in special education for the gifted in mathematics & science, the positive answer has been dominant. Teachers who were going to participate in special education for the gifted in mathematics & science have answered affirmatively. Secondly, perception of the organization of a class of the gifted in mathematics & science is very different between the group of institutes for the gifted education in the city office and the group of institutes for the gifted education in the science high school. Thirdly, perception of selection of gifted students for special education for the gifted in mathematics & science is very different between group of the mathematics teachers and group of the science teachers. Fourthly, 46.7% of the total agree with management of the gifted education in the science high school, 46.7% of the total agree with separation of management about mathematics & science.

The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of science journal writings on the cognitive and affective features of the science gifted students. In this research, the tasks of on-line science journal writings were assigned for 6 months and the subjects in this study were 21 students of Chemistry Division of the Center for Science Gifted Education, Seoul National University. Consequently in science journals, science concepts are found in various aspects according to the writing formats, and psychological and behavioral characteristics of the science-gifted are revealed in positive or negative aspects. In cognitive prospect, science journal writing equips students with better understanding about science concepts and scientific research. In affective prospect, science journal writing help students improve observation and attitude toward science as wren as writing skills. Accordingly, science journal writing has positive effect on cognitive and affective characteristics of the science-gifted. In conclusion, acknowledged by most of science-gifted students as both beneficial and appropriate in their education program, science journal writing should be emphasized in education for science-gifted students.
This study aimed to analyze the disadvantaged gifted students' affective characteristics and needs. The subjects of this study were 93 disadvantaged gifted elementary and middle school students in Daegu and Kyongsang-Bukdo Providence. The survey questionnaires including learning motivation, beliefs on intelligence, beliefs on academic achievement, interpersonal relationship, family variables, affective characteristics related to science and self-esteems were used to investigate their affective characteristics and needs. The results indicated that the disadvantaged gifted students showed the different characteristics on their intelligence, academic achievement, and family variables compared to those of general gifted students. They showed that they needed the financial and affective supports including transportation and continuous attention to disadvantaged gifted students.
We analyzed the responses of 152 science-gifted high school students by surveying the status and recognition of writing and keeping laboratory notebooks to develop guidelines and education plans. Science-gifted students did not write laboratory notes diligently, despite recognizing that it is crucial to do so. Mentors also tended not to provide faithful guidance and inspection. There was an insufficient practice in using research evidence in laboratory notebooks, such as including names and dates for authentication. In addition, while a high ratio of students owned their own laboratory notebooks, there was not a high level of recognition regarding the retention period, ownership, and responsibility. Based on these results, we propose suggestions for improving educational institutions for gifted students in science. First, it is necessary to strengthen the guidance for science-gifted students to faithfully write laboratory notebooks. Second, education on writing laboratory notebooks should be provided. Third, science-gifted high schools should prepare regulations for the management of lab notes and conduct education based on them.
